Daisy wasn't ready to come back to work just yet, but she had a desire to run around and roll in the grass, so she figured she was probably better off doing those things on the grounds. Couldn't very well run around the woods at home and let her cat get all the new smells on herself without magic, a babysitter and pure luck. No, it was simpler to take Jackson with her to the academy and ask Kaia to babysit for a little while. Could be justified as baby-swimming or something if anyone asked, just with someone better equipped to make sure the baby didn't drown than just about everyone else. Once Jackson was safely situated, and Lyss was informed, Daisy had made her way into the forest to undress and shift. She didn't feel like shifting out in the open. Not just because she didn't want to undress in the open, but because while she had gotten plenty of practice the last year, it still wasn't a completely smooth process. She had done it enough times that it didn't hurt quite as much anymore, and she could do it whenever she felt like it, but it was still a little slower when there wasn't a full moon than Bram or some of the other shifters around here. The leopard had a nice run through the woods, just working off some energy that had built up after spending so much time in human form recently (outside of full moons of course) and just getting to be silly. Before too long though, she found herself at on the lawn. She'd stumbled across a field of flowers and couldn't resist just rolling around in it, cover herself with all the floral scents, and capture them before letting them go again with a sneeze. She was in a playful mood though, so why not take advantage of that for a moment?

Kelly rolled his shoulders and stretched his back as he walked out from the Workshop and into the daylight. He had spent most of the past few hours bent over a workstation, cutting with a powerful saw into metal which was to be used as reinforcement for a new door, which itself was to be put on a room that held shifter-types. It wasn’t particularly hard work as such since the machine did the work but just rather time consuming and involved a lot of bending down to pick up pieces, moving the metal around, throwing offcuts into recycling, resetting the machine when it forked up… Being that Kelly was almost six foot four, it took a toll on his back. No fancy shifter or vamp blood to keep him from the effects of older age, Kelly was however thankful he could still keep working, he was far fitter (in his opinion) than a lot of his mates outside this place.
Crossing the laws Kelly decided to just chill out on a bench somewhere or flop under a tree rather than go and find company, the workshop was a noisy place even on quiet days and so he wanted to hear birdsong rather than chatter right now.
A reusable coffee cup and what remained of a bacon sandwich were in his hands as he got near a bench, the sandwich was soon finished though and he was about to drop down in the seat to drink that down, when he suddenly saw a leopard rolling around in the flowers nearby. It caused Kelly to crack a smile as he took his seat, was that shifter one of the reasons the team had been asked to assemble an oversized scratching/climbing post in the grounds a little while back? He chuckled a little as he took a sip of his drink… Typical cat, give them something to play with and do they use it? Nope, roll in flowerbeds instead.
Well, they might have… Kelly didn’t really know, he just does as asked, but he hoped the cats here got some use out of it as most of the time if he does things for shifters it was for the werewolves and he didn’t know how good his cat-toy makings skills are. “Hey, got to ask… the climbing post, any good?” he said while nodding in the general direction it had been placed.

Daisy should’ve known that she’d be discovered where she was rolling in the flowers, but she was a little surprised regardless when someone spoke to her. When she saw who it was, she temporarily thought about shifting and just staying flat on her stomach so she could talk to him, but the thought of shifting back again to retrieve her clothing sounded exhausting. So she wound up nodding at his question. It looked pretty awesome and she’d tried it out once, but she didn’t spend enough time in this form on the grounds to make much use of it. She should probably see about whether he’d be willing to make one special order for Jackson to learn with. For now, however, she looked around herself and was satisfied when she found her namesake. Clumsily pulling up the daisy, Daisy walked over to Kelly and offered it to him. She wasn’t going to pretend like she’d mind a good head-scratching, but she had important things to do. Trying her very best to growl out something that might resemble ‘stay’, she turned to face the woods. In her mind, there was a fifty/fifty shot he’d understood her, but she was hoping he’d wait for her. Telling herself to focus, she bolted towards the woods and rolled around on her clothing for good measure before she shifted back and got dressed in a hurry. She was carrying her shoes as she made her way back towards where she’d left Kelly. “Easier to talk this way,” she called out, chuckling slightly. She had only been gone a couple of minutes, for some reason it was a lot easier to shift back to human form so it usually took her less time

Being a regular gifted human Kelly did not speak shifter, so asking a question to one like he did might seem a bit pointless, but he was assuming on any reply being somewhat translatable if only from any added gesture that was given with it like a shake of the head or even some purring. All Kelly really needed was a yes or a no to be satisfied and seeing the leopard nod now he got that answer and felt a little relieved the effort hadn’t been for nothing. “Oh, good to know.” he said with a small grin and took another sip of his coffee. It had been hard to make something that would withstand a big cat’s claws and teeth as they tended to be a bit harder wearing than even the wolves around here.
At this point Kelly still had no clue as to who he was actually talking to despite having met this particular cat before back when she was still new to the body, he hadn’t met this side of her after all. As Daisy walked away Kelly focused back across the grounds thinking that was the end of the meeting but then he saw a daisy of all things being offered to him. Taking it with a small look of puzzlement Kelly then smiled, “Thanks.” he replied, so clearly not connecting the dots just yet and focused to the cat as she growled and seemed to look towards the forest. Did she want following or was she just saying that was where she was heading? “Ok.” Kelly said as she walked away and then looked to the daisy again and finally it clicked. “Oh.. Daisy.” he said and chuckled while twirling the flower between his fingers. He blame the slowness on the long shift he just got off.
Waiting on the bench Kelly had time to finish some more coffee and then placed it to one side as he saw the woman herself walk back. If any of the growling meant ‘I am going to get clothes’ he would be grateful as it would be all kinds of awkward for him if she decided to just shift back and have this conversation in her birthday suit.
“Yeah, bit rusty with me shifter clearly.” he said with a grin. “So how you been? Heard you got a mini-me now.” Kelly didn’t usually pay attention to chat between co-workings outside his own team but that was something that had been doing the rounds a while and was more good news than gossip so he took a small interest.

Daisy had to admit, it was a little strange being a mother again, but she loved the baby. Not that she didn’t love Alice just as much, but she loved that he was a part of their world and safer with his parents than anywhere else. That didn’t mean she didn’t appreciate a little alone time every now and again, but the cat had been itching to hunt something down for the baby it had just seemed more useful to run and get distracted by flowers instead. She was glad Kelly was still on the bench as she approached.
“Mini-me has baby-swimming with auntie Kaia,” she said, chuckling slightly. Or at least was doing whatever it was Kaia did on full moons when they needed a sitter. “It seemed safer to bring him here than get someone to watch him and run around the woods at home. And running was the only way to stop myself from bringing home a rabbit or something next full moon for a baby that can’t eat solids yet,” she admitted. Her feline self might be a little more playful than her human self, but they were both focused on keeping the baby safe and fed. It was just a bit of a quandary at times whether that was a meat-based diet or a milk-based one. She knew that even her cat knew he’d be too young even if he could shift yet, but the instinct to hunt seemed to have gotten stronger since giving birth.
“I’m good though, how about you? Seems you were smart enough to avoid the biting hazard that was my desk.” Daisy still couldn’t explain why she’d been so overprotective, but she figured like most things that really messed her up, it was probably related to Alice. Sitting down on the bench herself, Daisy took the time to put her shoes on now as well. It seemed better to just get it over with after all.

Kelly was a little surprised to hear that Daisy’s baby had been taken swimming, it seemed a bit early for that really but he supposed maybe for a shifter child it was a bit more normal, not that he really knew if or not leopards swam or even if her kid inherited a shifter gene, it just seemed likely to him that they might have. “Guess it’s never too early to learn.” Thinking to his own son, Kelly got the kid involved in lessons as soon as he could afford too, which was around age four. Now Lucas was far more interested in activities on dry and rather than water but Kelly didn’t regret the cost, it meant he worried less on any beach trips they took.
It made sense she want her kid nearby too, though it was another thing that set his own parenting apart from Daisy because Lucas was only gifted like himself, for a while he had his son enrol in Manson but once he got control over his technokinesis he sent Lucas to a human school. It was safer really. “Still finding it hard to control the kitty instincts?” Kelly asked with a small smile, only teasing her a little but really he was impressed by her. He figures it must be hard to cope with two conflicting mothering instincts. But he guessed she must have gotten some control or just found a better outlet like going for a run or roll in the flowers around here because he hadn’t been asked to replace any chewed computers for a while. Not by Daisy anyway.
He was glad to hear she was ok though and Kelly nodded and smile a little as he was asked if he was good too. “Yeah, fine. Ain’t had a need to go around your office so that might have helped.” Admin were surprisingly good at keeping things working, but compared to a place like the Secure Facility where things seemed to get damaged almost hourly he supposed that wasn’t hard to do.
“So what’s mini’s name?” Kelly didn’t want to think of it as an ‘it’ if Daisy was willing to share some details.

Maybe it was a little early to take the baby swimming, but in all honesty she didn’t know what Kaia got up to when she watched the baby, just that water was her element. “Well, I don’t know if he’s actually swimming, I just know he won’t drown. If nothing else, at least he’ll grow up feeling safe around water.” That was really the main thought behind asking Kaia to baby-sit. It was important to her that Jackson didn’t grow up to be afraid of water the way Bram was, especially since Lyss seemed to enjoy it so much and she wanted them to have something they could do that was just them when the kid got older. She would work on magic if he got any after all, and learning how to feline. Once she got a better grasp on that herself.
Daisy wasn’t quite ready to let go of Jackson for extended periods of time yet, there was still a small part of her that was worried someone would take him away from her. But that didn’t mean she wasn’t comfortable with the baby being with Kaia while she was exploring as a cat. “It has its ups and downs,” she said, chuckling slightly. “Let’s just say, if anyone I don’t trust comes near the baby, it’ll be hard not to bite.” Even if that meant biting in human form like she had while pregnant. She was of two minds about a lot when it came to raising a baby, but thankfully her and the cat agreed on most things. Other than food.
“Probably helps,” she agreed. “Might have to ask you to build one of those climbing posts at our place, for when the kid learns to shift, but that’s hopefully ways off still.” It seemed a lot safer for Jackson to learn how to climb somewhere safe than to start with trees after all. “Jackson,” she replied, pulling out her wallet from her pocket so she could get a picture out. “He’s just a little potato still, but he smells positively feline, so he’ll fit right in around here when he’s a little older.” It was definitely safer for him to come to Manson for classes when he was old enough, just to learn how to fit in, then he could go to regular school if that seemed appropriate. But all that was way off.

A big cat that was scared of water didn’t seem like a good thing so making sure it could swim and didn’t have a fear sounded like solid parenting really. Water was just fun to play around with too, Kelly thought you miss out on a lot if you can’t swim or are simply too scared of the big blue to even float around in it. He didn’t actually go swimming much himself other then when he took Lucas but he was grateful to be able to do it.
Kelly gave a chuckle to Daisy’s reply at how the cat instincts were going for her, it didn’t really seem like it was too different to any other parent really, though Kelly would not bite anyone he was fairly sure that if someone who looked a bit dodgy approached his son that he might find it hard to keep his fists to himself. Or his gift inside him for that matter… Kelly had never used his technomancy for protective reasons but he knew the possibility was there should he need to use it for that reason. These days everyone carried something electronic even if it was just a phone, it wouldn’t take much effort to make such a thing start smoking or explode or just whatever tech was around at the time. “Eh, sounds like the reaction of any other parent,” he said with a shrug and then smiled again, “wouldn’t worry about it.” he didn’t know if she was but felt the need to point out such a reaction wasn’t totally abnormal.
As for building a miniature climbing post for Daisy, Kelly was happy to do so but almost asked why they didn’t use an actual cat climbing toy since it probably would fit in the short term. Maybe it wasn’t robust enough? He didn’t really know how big of a kitty baby Daisy had. Who was the dad, anyway? Kelly had vague memory it was a counsellor called Lyss but he hadn’t met the guy to know much about him or if his genes were something to take into account when making a new climbing post.
“Sure, just give a little warning for when you want it and can get somethin’ made with the team.” Side projects were ok to work on in spare time as long as Manson didn’t have too much that needed doing, which is why Kelly asked for warning since he could see it maybe taking a few weeks to create.
Jackson was an unusual name and Kelly wondered why Daisy picked it. “Usual name…” he said with a grin, he only knew of one Jackson himself but it was a surname rather than a first name and he briefly wondered if there was a connection with Bram. Kelly had only recently met the hybrid properly despite having played at his bar a number of times. Maybe all the work that Daisy said she was doing with the guy last time they spoke had paid off?
He then leaned forward a little as Daisy brought out a photo of him to show. “Aw, looks like he is gonna be a strong lad.” Kelly wouldn’t have said feline from looks but then he didn’t have enhance senses. “Heh, I would share a baby pic of my kid but he is nearing thirteen and I promised I wouldn’t anymore.” Lucas wouldn’t know if he did but Kelly didn’t want to break the promise.

Swimming wasn’t her favorite activity in the world, but it seemed only fair to give Jackson a good basis for wanting to learn later in life. Besides, both Kaia and Ida seemed to enjoy having a baby around so it was nice to be able to let the cat out to play without worrying or feeling guilty. Daisy loved the family she’d found here, but sometimes she just needed to do her own thing. While being turned nearly a year ago now had made her feel more at home, cats were solitary creatures and sometimes that just had to be indulged too.
Maybe it was just because she hadn’t been a shifter when she’d had Alice, or maybe it was just that she’d always known on some level that she wasn’t ready to be a mom, but she hadn’t felt as protective over Alice as she did Jackson. “Guess it doesn’t help that I’ve got a little girl living with my sister and her family,” she admitted, running a hand through her hair. “She’s perfectly human though, same as most of my family, didn’t seem safe to bring her here when I moved back. I know she’s safe though, and happy, but it’s probably why I actually bit people while I was pregnant with Jackson.” Sure, there had been a warning sign on her desk for a reason, but still. She felt like biting was a bit excessive. Shooting someone with a tranquilizer gun seemed more reasonable.
Daisy knew they could probably use a cat climbing toy to begin with, but she knew she’d feel safer having something Jackson could grow into that would be more size appropriate when he grew. “Probably be alright to wait until spring again at least. I don’t know when shifters first learn to shift, but this is a case of sooner not being better,” she said. Daisy was worried about that more than anything, that their little boy would shift and get stuck as a cat for hours at a time.
“He’s an unusual kid,” she said, not finding the name choice all that odd given how it made it possible for him to be named after all his parents. “Potentially a witchy kitty like his mom, or a time-bending kitty after his dad, or both. And something tells me he’ll be an excellent drummer like his papa-wolf, so he’ll fit right in with our little family-pack no matter what.” Daisy didn’t care what Jackson grew up to be really, just that he grew up in a loving family and even if they were a strange family, they all loved him and each other and that’s what mattered.
She nodded at his words. Despite him being so small still, she had no doubt he’d grow up to be able to do whatever he wanted. “Reasonable to keep the promise,” she agreed. “Even if I’m sure he was a cutie as a baby too.” She couldn’t help but appreciate the fact that he was keeping his word to his son even if ht’d never find out. “Any advice on what boys like to play with?” It seemed better to ask Kelly than call her sister and ask.

Kelly was damn grateful his kid had inherited his gifted gene, the technomancery at least even if the flecto side did not seem to have come through at all. He was disappointed about that but happy nonetheless the boy was gifted because it gave him something extra to relate to him with, also Kelly was pretty damn sure his ex, if Lucas had been born ‘normal’ would have use the fact to keep him away, take full custody as like Daisy said, it wouldn’t be safe to have a human child around those who can do such weird things. Needless to say Kelly didn’t get on with his babymoma too well, tried to but they were far better off separated. Rather than get into a moan he just nodding understandingly. “Got to do what’s best for the kid.” he said, knowing he would too if he had to.
Kelly grinned a little hearing Daisy didn’t want Jackson sifting too soon, he didn’t know where she lived but he guessed having a mini leopard in any home would cause some chaos and probably chewed furniture. He wasn’t thinking the kid could get stuck like that either, he thought shifting was a thing you can do rather than had to be learnt. “Heh well if it is sooner, just say… can work in free time if needed.” Kelly didn’t mind helping a colleague or a friend even in his down time.
Kelly hadn’t meant unusual in a bad way, he liked unique names, his own was a little unique in the sense that mostly girls were called Kelly in the UK but he liked the title still, and it for sure fitted for what was an unusual family and he smiled as Daisy explained why. “Sounds like he has got a lotta love around him.” Which in a way was all a kid needs… What a papa-wolf is he had no clue but was guessing it is a shifter thing, like a godfather maybe.
It was tempting to bring out some older photos of Lucas but Kelly didn’t think his kid would appreciate that any more so decided against it. As for what boys liked to play with, Kelly chuckled. “The living room lights, tv, putting the oven on and off seemed to be a worryin’ favourite too.. But wouldn’t worry about that unless your kid got some techno-blood in him too.” For non-gifted things, “But other than that, Lucas just liked going out an playing in the dirt and climbing stuff. Computer games a bit more now but loves his bike still, taking it apart and rebuilding but riding too.” He was a rough and tumble kind of kid really.

Daisy was always grateful when people seemed to understand why she had left Alice with her sister when she first moved here. She hadn’t wanted her little girl growing up around all this strange stuff and be jealous that she couldn’t do anything like it. No, she wanted better for her daughter than what she’d had. Wanted her to have a chance to fit in with the people around her and not feel like she was less simply because she was different. “Better to fit in and be safe than always the outsider,” she commented, smiling slightly at him. Of course, if her life depended on it, Daisy would find someone to turn her in a heartbeat and bring her into this world, but it would need to really be a matter of life and death.
Maybe there was no way to control when Jackson would start shifting, but she hoped he’d be human a little longer. She kind of liked having someone to look after and it was easier to take him places when she didn’t have to worry about suddenly carrying a leopard cub around. “Will let you know,” she said, honestly grateful he was willing to help out. “Have a few toys around the house anyway for the actual cat, so he might be able to use those until he grows a little anyway.” Right now, she reckoned he’d be small enough still to use Spud’s stuff if he shifted, but he’d probably outgrow that soon enough.
“Lots of love and chosen family around him, he’s going to be just fine,” she agreed. She couldn’t help but feel like she was surrounded by a lot of love these days too and it was nice. Nice to have a proper home and family to share everything with. Sure, she missed her sister from time to time, but she felt much more at ease with the people around here and had no plans to move back there. “Got a village, figuratively speaking,” she added, chuckling slightly.
Ah, no, she probably didn’t need to worry about any of that, because it would’ve needed an evolutionary miracle for Jackson to have any tehcnomancer genes. “So pretty much just prepare for lots of outdoors time,” she said, smiling at the thought. “Guess I better be prepared to make him a magical collar too, in case he wants to run around the woods and play in animal form… Sounds like plenty of things Lyss might enjoy too though.” Clearly there was a lot about this that she hadn’t really thought out, like how to get a kid to understand that he couldn’t run around as a leopard whenever he wanted…

Kelly had never really considered been normal as being on the outside of things but he supposed a human in this place, in this world of Manson actually would be the odd one out. He would never question another persons parenting style but especially not in this complicated matter, Daisy did what she thought was best and that’s all anyone can do, he had no doubt she still loved her first kid so nodded understandingly.
It was an amusing picture to have a baby-kitty and an actual kitty romping around but Kelly tried to not let it show too much, imagining it wouldn’t be half as funny to deal with, kinda a headache really since you can’t leave the baby at home but taking it outside amongst the normals had the risk of tails or ears sprouting at unexpected moments. Kelly was going to ask if Daisy can’t magic up something to help but he guessed she might have already thought of that if it was a possibility. “Money saver for sure in the short term.” he joked, other than clothing, toys were really the more expensive thing he had to buy for Lucas since they were grown out of so quickly or just broken.
Kelly gave another smile as Daisy mentioned her child having a lot of love around him. Sometimes he worried himself if Lucas knew that since his parents were not together and he was split between two homes. It didn’t really scream stability but Kelly tried to make the alternate weekends and shared holidays go smoothly.
Since Daisy’s kid was in part shifter outside time seemed like it might be even more important so Kelly chuckled and nodded, “Yeah, saves furniture being stacked and climbed on.” Which in itself wouldn’t have been so bad if it was just the sofa but Kelly had a tiny apartment and tables were used too, the place really wasn’t big enough to have that kind of thing going on. Then Daisy mentioned a magical collar so Kelly realised she had thought about magicking thing up so was glad to have not mentioned it. “Wouldn’t hurt I don’t think, mean I ain’t a shifter but guess typical boy energy, shifter genes too, gonna need a lot of space.” The only other helpful thing Kelly could think of was not letting the wrong things become a game. “Just don’t make things you don’t like accidentally into a game… made that mistake myself.” Mostly with the lights and oven, Lucas switching it on and him having to turn it off again was apparently hilarious to a two year old.

There really was no bright side to anything. Because if she had stayed back home with her sister and Alice, she never would’ve met Bram and Lyss and had Jackson. So if she had to go back, knowing what she knew now, it might actually have been a lot easier to leave Alice with her sister. Not just because she’d be in a much more stable home that way, but also because she wouldn’t trade having a family she felt like she belonged with and was accepted by for feeling like the outsider herself. At least this way, Alice was safe and had a family and Daisy herself was safe and had a family that made her feel wanted. She wasn’t just a screwup to her family here.
“For sure,” she agreed, chuckling slightly. “And I reckon my magical laser pointer would work just as well for Jackson as the actual cat once he’s in that form,” she said, smiling at the thought. Somehow, she wasn’t overly worried about Jackson playing with Spud while they were somewhat the same size. It would be good for the kid to learn how to kitty from an actual cat. As long as Spud didn’t try to adopt him for himself, it was all good. “Spud’s a good sport though. He lets us play with him in animal form, so I reckon he’ll appreciate having someone a little closer to his own side for a while.” It was a lot easier to play with someone closer to you in size after all.
Daisy shuddered slightly at the thought of furniture being stacked to climb on. Chewed on was a different matter entirely, because she’d been just as guilty about that for a while. “Probably gonna need a lot more boxes too,” she said, amused more than anything. “I mean, gonna be three of us enjoying cardboard, but at least that’s an easily acquired plaything.” She reckoned it wouldn’t be too hard to get cardboard boxes for all of them, hell Bram must have a steady supply and anything he got for supplies would be more than big enough for Jackson for a while.
She nodded at what he said about not making things she didn’t like into games. “That is some sound advice right there. Should probably tell Lyss too. In case Jackson got his time powers.”

It sounded like Daisy had it all figured out really so all Kelly could think she really needed was a little confidence in herself. Sure, her ideas might be a little unusual but her circumstances were too so that called for a bit of creative thinking, like sharing the actual cat toys with her kid and getting boxes for him to play with. As for them all playing together, well that was just a mental picture Kelly couldn’t help but laugh at, especially if Lyss was involved too and that papa-wolf, you can’t really get a more unique family. “Getting me tempted to throw the teenager in the mix, might burn him out for once.” Kelly joked, not really planning on making Daisy babysit and time soon though he was sure Lucas could keep them all entertained for a while.
But yes, boxes were easy to find, the workshop was always full of them and usually they got recycled or reused somehow but Kelly would not mind donating some to the teething cause. “Always got some round the workshop, wooden ones too if you need something more hardwearing to chew on.” he said with a shrug, it wouldn’t take a lot of effort to throw them into the back of his truck and drop them off on the way home if Daisy or Lyss couldn’t fit them in the boot of either their cars.
As long as things like that got the the teeth and claws he imagined it would be a lot less worry for all… “Time powers too? Sounds like your all gonna be kept busy.” Kelly said with a grin while wondering just what that meant exactly just as it sounded like the kind of thing that might be just as much of a headache to cope with than a toddler that can manipulate every electrical thing in the house. A shifting, witchy, possibly added gifted baby… no parenting books on that out there for sure. Kelly honestly admired how well Daisy was coping if all she doing was rolling in flowers to unwind.

Maybe it was a little unusual to let your kid play with the same toys as the cat, but Daisy figured he’d get his own toys for human playtime and it seemed a little excessive to buy toys for a baby shifter’s animal form when you already had pets. Hell, they’d had to get toys for Lyss’s stray too so there’d be plenty of stuff for Jackson to play with as he grew up. In addition to regular human toys, of course. “A referee between the cats, dog and wolves probably wouldn’t be a terrible idea sometimes,” she joked back. “Honestly, if your kid’s a reliable kid and wants to babysit from time to time come summer again, for a fee of course, I reckon they could tire each other out.” Daisy wasn’t willing to look for a sitter just yet, for more than full moons anyway or just an hour here or there, but she reckoned once they knew for sure about Jackson’s powers it’d be a little easier to let go for a bit and have some time with friends.
“Bram is helping me pick those soft, chewable drumsticks for Christmas. Figure it might be better for human teething to chew on something a little softer and less likely to splinter, but cardboard is probably going to be a huge hit. I know it is with me and the actual cat.” Daisy didn’t kind if Jackson picked up Bram’s habit of chewing on drumsticks for a while, but she’d rather he didn’t chew the wooden ones. She had tried chewing the one Bram gave her herself and wound up with a wooden splinter in her tongue somehow and that wasn’t something she wanted to risk her baby experiencing. She also wasn’t ashamed to admit that she’d taken great pleasure just playing with the box the crib had come in. It was something she hadn’t even known she was missing, but one round with the thing and her feline self had been absolutely sold. It was good for flopping in, placing Spud in for safekeeping (practicing for Jackson was her excuse on that) and chewing on. It didn’t matter if she destroyed it in the end either, that was the best part about it.
“We don’t know if he got Lyss’s gifts or not yet,” she admitted. “He feels magical to me, but I can’t say for sure whether it’s my kind of magical or Lyss’s kind until he puts on a show. Could be either, could be both. Sure gonna be interesting to find out.” Daisy knew there were probably tests they could do, either scientific ones or magical ones, to find out for sure one way or another, but her cat was content just knowing he was hers and staying, it didn’t seem all that important to her to find out for sure anything else just yet. Besides, who was gonna test him magically? She was only able to tell he was magical, not what kind.
“Anyway, that’s my life. What’ve you been up to recently?”
