A shrill little cry broke above the usual sounds of nature followed by the soft hushing of a woman who trod through the forest delicately with a bundle of blankets in her arms, she wasnt particularly watching where she was going either, more following her nose with her gaze set upon the little face peering back up at her. Lottie had given birth in the forest with the help of the father of the child, but after a week of living in the wild she was quite sure that Manson would see that both her and Aaron were more than capable of looking after the baby and so she was returning. She missed her bed, she missed the few little belongings she had. She wanted to show off this special little creature that she'd created. Aaron had helped too, obviously, but she had never in her memory ever been so proud of herself. Because this little person was absolutely perfect.
Aaron didn't agree that Manson would allow them to keep the kid but she was certain and so she'd snuck from where they'd been hiding and wandered on back to what she knew as her home. Already she'd passed the shifter grounds and she could see glimpses of the academy through the trees, it made her slow her speed somewhat but she kept on moving forward, just clutching hold of the precious little person she held in her arms.
Lottie wanted to get home, but she was still quite scared of them ripping the child from her arms.. But there were books, she'd read books about little babies and giving birth and in each one there had been doctors to check them over to make sure that they were alright and that had never happened with her little girl. She hadn't been checked. She seemed healthy enough to Lottie but she knew she was no doctor. And she was worried. She wanted what was best for the little baby, the absolute best.
But. Maybe she could take her time for now..
So the dark haired woman settled down at the base of a tree right on the edge of the forest, her knees up so she could lay the baby against her thighs and coo softly to the little girl who yawned widely before those little blue eyes of hers closed to the world in sleep. Lottie's heart swelled up and she traced her fingers lightly over the soft little features of the beautiful petit face, the tiny button nose, she couldn't love her any more if she tried.. Even her scent, Lottie had been almost overwhelmingly happy to have smelt that first hint of wolf upon the small girl, so much so that she'd cried uncontrollably for a while. Totally hormones.. She just couldn't wait to introduce her to the pack.

If you are a guard, in particular the ‘Head of Security’, it would be pretty amiss to not notice when two of your residents go missing. The ‘escape’ of Lottie with Aaron hadn’t gone unnoticed but it had gone un-acted upon at Fabian’s request. Lottie was unstable and arguably Aaron more so, sending a team out to drag the two back would cause more harm than good. As long as Lottie stayed with Aaron, Fabian was content enough to leave them be. There were enough cameras hidden around the forest that it wasn’t too hard to track the pair and just monitor for problems, Lottie had looked near ready to give birth and should she have an issue, medical staff were on call and could be there within ten minuets, probably less…
But that was all a week ago and having been casually watching the pair still and the baby, Fabian noticed Lottie was on the move and so he had moved too to greet her. She would be right that Manson would not allow her to keep the baby, there was simply too much risk involved in having a newborn around the campus or the forest. While he was sure Lottie felt capable and Aaron like he could simply rip the heads off any problems, that didn’t guarantee to keep a baby fed and safe. So far none of them seemed to have thought to come back and get the kid checked over, make for sure it was healthy, do all the newborn tests (Fabian had no idea what it involved but the doctors were pretty insistent it was needed) and it added to his reasons for going out to meet Lottie.
Following instructions over his radio once he had left the monitors, Fabian crossed the grounds but then switched to radio silence and just let his nose sniff out where mother and child are and he soon spied them sitting at the base of a tree. But if he could see and smell them, Fabian was sure Lottie was aware of his own approach. It didn’t worry him, if the woman wanted to fry him she had many chances to do so before and so he couldn’t think she would act on it even now despite the real fear she likely had he could be here to take the child. Fabian didn’t have that in mind even now though, while it was the previous aim, it seemed like Lottie had changed her mind about him fostering the baby until it was older, which meant another plan needed to be put in place that kept everyone happy but more importantly the baby girl (he was sure he could smell female in the air now) safe.
Once he was near enough Fabian sat down about a metre away from Lottie and just looked to the baby in her arms and then the wetness on her face. Happy tears? Sad tears? He didn’t know, wasn’t sure it was too important to find out. He had a list in his head of things he needed to ask both for the guards and to satisfy the doctors so he didn’t want to get lost on a tangent of unrelated things.
“The doctors want to check her over. Height, weight, heartbeat.” Fabian said simply, “And check you out. Make sure you cleared everything?” Fabian had stopped them before they gave too much detail, it was all a little gross sounding really. There was more but that was all Fabian shared for now, leaving it up to Lottie to decided if she wanted to follow him in to get any of that completed as he wasn’t going to force her. Since she had been moving he did wonder if she had planned on willingly coming in to get it all done, maybe would have sooner but been scared out of it? Whatever the case she was near enough to the academy that some things could be done out here, Fabian just needed to know she was willing and wouldn’t fry the doctors.

She did indeed smell Fabian before she saw himm, but considering that he was one of the few people that she wanted to show her baby off too she didn't make any move to run away, or anything defensive either. However, she did readjust her daughter to hold her a little more securely. She didn't think that Fabian would tackle her or try and wrench the kid away from her, he'd never done anything that she'd class as a betrayal before so why should he begin now? Lottie wasn't even all that aware that she had been crying, but still she wiped at her cheeks with the backs of her hand and just hoped beyond hope that she wasn't going to get into trouble for having been in the forest for a week. Reprimands from Puppy just made her sad.
Nothing bad was said though, just the same things that she already knew that she had to do, "that was my plan," she said quietly, almost hesitantly. However, she glanced down at her little girl and back to Fabian again, "they won't hurt her, will they? You'll make sure that they don't hurt her?" She didn't need to tell him again that she trusted him entirely. The man was her alpha and before that, he'd been her friend. In her mind anyway, he'd played games with her when she was a killer and very much out of her mind. And he hadn't doused her in water. He was a good person. A good wolfy. She loves him. In an 'I'll bite out the throat or fry anybody who tries to hurt him' kind of way. She'd say that totally counts.
"I'm fine though, I am, I healed, I'm a wolf! A lady wolf, I always heal good," she held her daughter against her chest and shuffled closer to Fabian, close enough for her legs to brush against his and then she relaxed her hold on the baby to hold her out to Fabian with a brighter smile, "she's a wolf too, look! Does that make her pack, puppy? She can come to the meets and.. When she can walk, she can't do that yet, just kind of stays where you put her, but when she can walk you can teach her to hunt rabbits like you did me?" Aaron had made sure she'd been safe for the most part, Lottie seemed to be a little unaware of most dangers that could occur to the child.
Lottie couldn't be more relaxed right now and Fabian might not understand it but she was very happy to see the alpha, so much so that the inner wolf wanted to greet him excitedly and enthusiastically. Lottie is just human enough though that she knows hugging somebody tightly and licking them isn't really a good way to say hello to somebody who you're not actually intimate with. It's not really feasible either with a baby in her arms.. Still, she was incredibly happy that it was him that had come to meet her. Not that she knew he'd been watching via cameras nearly the entire time.

Lottie should be behind a secure door right now, if anyone else escaped for a week and hid out, they would be dragged back at the first opportunity and detained until their method of escaping had been fully investigated and resolved so to make sure it did not happen again. But Fabian was fast learning not one rule could be applied to all and it was what added to the reasons she was currently un-cuffed. Fabian knew he should be ‘blind’ when it came to treatment of residents but he would admit to liking Lottie a little and so possibly was letting her get away with more than he should, offering her things that he would never to anyone else as compared to the majority of residents he came into contact with she had been the friendliest despite the odd initial meeting. Fabian still hadn’t quite gotten over the bucket to his head… But he wasn’t going to forever judge Lottie by it. He felt she deserved to be given a break as in his opinion, she wasn’t going to be a bad mother but just one that needed support that Manson can’t give safely.
Fabian felt the opinion was affirmed when Lottie spoke up to say going in to get checked out had been her plan, it showed she knew the kind of things that needed to be done, though he wondered why she had not sooner. Maybe it didn’t matter too much, as a supernatural, Lottie’s baby was not in immediate danger but had it been any longer than a week and Fabian couldn’t see himself being able to stop the doctors from rushing in to take the kid. His authority was mostly on a level with the head and top doctors.
Looking to Lottie, Fabian sniffed the air but more the small pink creature in her arms. His wolf was curious, it wasn’t as if it had any more experience with babies than the human part but it did have more primal thoughts towards it, both wanting to help it but also having an odd reluctance to get too close because to one half of himself, how you make babies was… well it wasn’t something he was even slightly interested in and yet, he did want to help this baby. His wolf wanted to have a baby. It was confusing and even now despite the prospect of fostering the child seeming slimmer, Fabian was a little disappointed (perhaps slightly more for Zevren) but also relieved as at times it had all seemed like a bad idea anyway. What did he know about babies any more than Lottie did? Refocusing to Lottie though, Fabian then gave a small shake of his head. “No, and yes?” the questioning tone at the end was only as no, nobody would harm the baby and yes he would make sure of that even if he felt he didn’t need to because nobody would hurt the child. Some extra precautions had been brought it too to make sure that no other residents got too near either, a baby around had a smell that was going to be very obvious to certain species and not all would have good intentions.
Nodding a little as she said she was fine, Fabian could believe Lottie might be ok but it still seemed worth checking since she would be inside anyway. “Won’t hurt to check.” he said to let her know as such. He thought a moment but decided against asking her to do it as favour for him, it felt like it might cross a line of some kind to try and blackmail her inside if he did have some kind of special hold over her, which was becoming more apparent to him each meeting.
As she came closer Fabian kept seated, he still wasn’t worried of attack and was even less so with a baby in Lottie’s arms. What the baby had inherited was another of the questions that needed answering and was now answered at least in part, the girl was a wolf too, but did she have anything else? Electrokinesis was one of the worries, screaming baby might mean a short circuit in the lights or a fire in the forest if Lottie insisted on staying out here. Enhanced strength could be a problem but not as immediate as a sparking baby. Fabian would have taken hold of the little girl at this point but he wasn’t sure he was meant to or if he was supposed to just look at her, it seemed a safer bet to just look.
“Yeah. When she can walk and eat solid food she can join the pack and hunt.” Fabian replied, he could see Zevren almost insisting on it especially if the girl had inherited all of the parents abilities, that sort of thing needed an outlet, structure and discipline to control, which she would get in a pack. In the past Fabian could feel his arms and hands like burning when it rained, and having to not use his gift despite something deep inside screaming to throw it around to scratch the itch. It was something he adapted to and mostly got over but he can imagine how hard it might be for another kinesis type.
“What’s her name?” Fabian knew he should be telling Lottie to follow him inside but he wanted her cooperative so wouldn’t push for it again just yet, he rather she just got up and willingly made her way inside with him following.

Lottie wasn't quite sure what was going to happen to her and her child now.. Whilst she hoped for the best there was a part of her that was bolstered by Aaron's voice in the back of her head saying that she'd never be able to keep the child whilst she's housed in Manson. But then, that saner and usually smothered voice insisted that her baby would be looked after by people who understood her and her needs regardless of who she ended up with. But the wolf had issues with the idea of saying goodbye to the child. Lottie has been desperate to belong and be truly loved by somebody for a long time now and this little tiny person was everything she'd longed for. It broke her heart to think of never seeing the child again. But she's conflicted, so very conflicted because she wants her baby to have a family, to grow up with friends and school and parties and.. She knows she can't provide that in Manson.
This was a horrible emotional rollercoaster and she wasn't even over the halfway point yet.
But, she trusted Fabian. He'd never hurt her, not really, not in a way she can't forgive (which, admittedly, would take something big), so that means that he'd never hurt her baby either. Especially if it's pack. Alpha's don't hurt their pack, they protect them. That's not even up for debate to her, she believes that wholeheartedly. So she nodded at his answersand still scooted closer to him none the less. The doctor's wouldn't dare do anything with him around, she knew that. And she knew he wouldn't pop the heads off of anybody either, that wasn't particularly something she wanted the little innocent thing in her arms to ever lay eyes on.
The guard was right in his thinking though, she would do whatever he asked of her, within reason. She wasn't a submissive little pet, but she was a loyal person and Fabian was one of her favourite people. The other person she loved was a little mad with her at the moment, but she was over that now so therefore he must be too. Logic.
She grinned when he agreed to her joining the pack and without much warning she pushed the baby onto Fabian, not giving him much choice but to take her or let her fall into his lap, Lottie had no worries about him hurting her, "hold her, she's so little and light, delicate, like a dolly," and she's been incredibly gentle with her. The dark haired woman is incredibly proud of herself for that. Though, unbeknownst to them all the child has inherited her father's sturdiness and durability, so Lottie could throw the kid across the lawns and it'd be alright. Probably a little shocked, but alive. Not that she would do that, or let anybody else do it, she'd rip their throats out, "she'll be a good wolf too, I bet.. You won't regret it, I promise."
That's if she still has the kid then of course, but then she would quite contently fall back onto the secondary plan that Fabian had suggested before, of him looking after her until she's all grown up. But honestly she was just enjoying every sweet second of time she had with her right now.
"She was born at night time, so we called her Luna.. Luna Diana Hunt, that's her dad's last name, Aaron's one," she smiled and touched the little girl's cheek lightly again, it was hard not to touch her she found. Her wolf wanted nothing more than to curl around her and keep her safe, "I really love her," she added happily, "don't you love her? Just look how small and perfect she is." Yes, she looks as proud as she sounds. Lottie knows not to expect any praise from Fabian, he's not really that type but it would be very well appreciated...

Fabian was not used to kids, something he knew would have to rapidly change should Zevren and himself end up looking after Lottie’s baby for a while. He blamed past experiences on the slight anxiety and confusion he held, something that seemed a little stupid when put towards a thing that doesn’t even know where it is or who or what it is yet to make any judgement towards you. Having the baby suddenly thrust into his arms meant he had to hold her and couldn’t really argue about it, and so he held her, with her head resting somewhat against his arm and chest and body down the rest of his arm. She was indeed really little and light, Fabian could barely notice her weight and though Lottie might not be worried about her being harmed deliberately, Fabian was that he might accidentally. She was barely bigger than his forearm after all… “Uh-hu.” Fabian said in reply to Lottie’s statement her baby would be a good wolf. He would have said something a bit more comforting but all his attention was for now on the little thing in his arm.
Had he known the baby had inherited the durability of the father he would have been less worried, not careless of course but his attention could be split a little more, perhaps even it would make those who ultimately decided where the child would go would be more open to Lottie keeping her knowing she wasn’t going to be as vulnerable as she seemed. It would come out in the genetic tests of course but for now Fabian and everyone else on staff was going to treat her as vulnerable as she appeared.
Names were important though and Fabian wanted to find out what the girl in his arms was called, thinking of her as ‘baby’ seemed a bit off really, but that was how she (well, ‘it’, since until now they didn’t know gender either) had been referenced in all the meetings about what to do with Lottie, Aaron and the child. “Ok.” Fabian said with a small nod. Luna, he would let the others know and update the files.
As for loving her, that was a bit harder to answer… The answer that came to Fabian’s mind was ‘no’ because he known her all of a few minutes really but even Fabian knew better than to say that, and so he instead nodded, “Um, yes.” Not in the way he loved Zevren of course, or the sibling like love he felt towards Kaia as the sister he never had, or even the protective like feeling he had to most (he couldn’t say all) of the pack that came from his wolf. But in time, he was sure he might love Luna like a child of his own, whatever that felt like, if he did look after her. In a small way he sort of did feel close to the child, he had been heavily involved in her life before she was born really just making preparations for her arrival. Suddenly, thinking he might be cut off from all that completely and Zevren would be too, did make him feel a little sad.

She swelled with pride when he took the baby and supported the little girl without any prompting from her. It had taken Aaron to show her how to properly support the childs head and how to place her down and pick her up again. The man had done so without making her feel useless too, which had earnt him some good points in her books. However, it hadn't been enough for her to take his warnings about returning too seriously, she trusted other people more than the father of her child. Fabian being one of them, probably the most reliable of them actually. This woman has always managed to fill in the silence with words that she believes are being spoken silently. Basically she assumes a large majority of conversation and even the guard's little 'uh-hu' spoke more to her than a little rant would have done. He'd basically agreed with everything she'd said about the little girl. To anybody who listens she'll tell that her alpha said her baby will be an awesome wolfy. It's just fact cemented in her mind now.
And he loved her! Not her her, but Luna, he just admitted to it and she welled up a little but made no move to hug Fabian. She didn't want to squish the baby or make the guard feel all awkward, but the wolf inside of her whined at the lack of contact. Lottie's skin kept on getting pins and needles at various moments, it wasn't painful, more a mild itch because she hadn't shifted since she'd given birth, but she hadn't wanted to leave the baby for even a moment and as a new wolf it still took at least a good few minutes for her to shift. It just made her come across as a littl twitchier than usual at the moment but she was just fine, not about to snap or shift spontaneously so there was nothing to worry about there, but, she had been neglecting herself somewhat to try and care for this teeny tiny person.
"She likes you," Lottie said quietly, the happiness obvious in her tone. Luna hadn't done much else other than stir a little in her little baby sleep before settling back into a soundless sleep against the man holding her. The shewolf leant in a little to stroke a hand gently over the blonde peach fuzz on the little girl's head, "puppy is safe," she whispered, well aware that Fabian could hear her but she didn't care, "he's alpha, puppy alpha.. like a daddy and a big brother and an uncle and cousin all in one, he's mumma's favourite so never bite him. Never be mean," she placed a little kiss on the baby's head and let her lips linger so she could inhale softly, taking in her scent again. Something she never could get enough of.
The child couldn't understand her, obviously, but that would never stop her chatting to her.
She glanced back up at Fabian, a more unsure smile upon her lips, nervous tension building somewhat, "I'm ready.. To see the doctors now, if you'll come too. Keep her safe from being prodded too hard, 'kay? I really don't want to hurt anybody, promise.." It wasn't a promise not to hurt anybody, but only that she didn't want too. Still, she'd explode if anything went wrong. Like being dragged back to her cell without her daughter, or being told she'd never see her again. That wouldn't make for a pretty result.

Fabian couldn’t see how Luna could like him or dislike him but he supposed since the baby girl was not screaming or crying to go back to her mother, maybe she did sense on some level, as a wolf if not a person, that she was in a safe pair of hands or at least a safe arm. Almost Fabian gave a small smile, just a little one… This might be a new role he was finding himself in, new, awkward and a bit puzzling, but that didn’t mean he dislike it as such. It was simply another thing to adapt to, to learn about, probably to pester Zevren with fifty questions or so, later. “That’s good.” he said simply. All the vague plans they had made so far would be pointless if Luna disagreed with them.
Looking up as Lottie went to stroke a hand over her girl, Fabian just listened quietly as reassurance was given that ‘puppy’ was safe. At this point the guard knew he was never going to lose the nickname, if anything it might get a little more widespread and so it seemed better to just accept that he was going to be puppy to Lottie, puppy to Luna… He didn’t really want to be that to Aaron but somehow he couldn’t see the man calling him that, thankfully.
And the little smile that Fabian almost had grew to something a bit more noticeable at the reasons Lottie gave for him being trustworthy, mostly as daddy, big brother, uncle, cousin… they were all things he had never been or had never been allowed to be due to family resentment. But Fabian tried to not be too hopeful for filling the roles, this could all still fall apart if the higher ups said no or even if Aaron strongly objected. Right now it seemed best to just focus literally, on just being a good Alpha.
Hearing Lottie was ready to go back in, Fabian nodded and moved to hand Luna back to her. Another thing came to his mind now, and like Lottie couldn’t promise not to harm anyone but rather she promised she didn’t want to harm anyone, Fabian couldn’t say Luna wouldn’t get hurt a tiny bit or at least cry from what was done. Babies didn’t like to be fussed over, did they? “I’m coming.” Fabian said, that he could guarantee. “She might get prodded a little. Might cry. But they won’t be hurting her.” he said with a slight frown. “They want blood tests and stuff.” So he assumed some kind of needle would be used.
Standing up Fabian waited for Lottie to start walking back and he would follow a few steps along side. He figured it would look better if she seemed to be going in herself and willingly rather than he was walking her back. Only when they got to the Secure Ward did he plan on going ahead but that was more to stop the doctors rushing at her and Luna.

Lottie blinked at the smile, she hadn't really seen that expression on his face before but would imagine him like that from now on, everytime somebody mentions the guard it was this moment she'd remember. She knew her little girl was special but now she had proof of it and that just delighted her even more. But she said nothing about it, she didn't want to make that smile disappear and he was handing her back her daughter so she was a little bit distracted with taking the blanket wrapped child back into her own arms. Delicate delicate, but she was more than happy to have the slight weight and warmth close to her once more. And she was going to be returning to something that was admittedly small but it was her own, her little home, her little cell. She hadn't even thought about possibly getting punished for having 'disappeared' for a week.
She made a happy little sound when she got back to her feet upon hearing that Fabian would be there too but she refrained from bouncing on the spot. Lottie has a lot of energy right now, possibly because she hasn't been for a run for a while, heavily pregnant didn't leave her much to get suitable exercise and since she'd had the baby she'd been quite wrapped up with caring for her. Not that she's complaining, but it does explain off her slightly more nervous energy, the undercurrent of tension that could snap at any moment.
Her lips formed into a soft line as he explained about the blood tests, the prodding.. She hadn't meant that type of thing, she'd meant the more torturous kind of thing that she'd gone through. She'd been an adult when that had happened but considering she couldn't remember her earlier years then those were her first memories. Lottie won't have her child being hurt like that, she doesnt want her kid to grow up like her. "Okay.. Little needles sting a little, but that won't hurt her bad. They won't try and drown her or see how long she can go without food will they?" That was the bigger worry for her. And one of the circumstances in which she'd try and rip off limbs, "it makes me hurt inside when she cries, puppy.. but I'll be good if you're there to watch her. And watch them. Watch them close.."
She was mumbling by the time she got to end of her sentence, she didn't need to tell Fabian what to do, she felt kind of uncomfortable actually telling him what to do too actually. Made her wolf all anxious, but she hid that by beginning to wander off in the direction she knew the medical center was, but she glanced back occassionally to make sure that the other werewolf was still close by. Lottie did open the door to the med center a little hesitantly, but breathed out a little sigh of relief when Fabian took lead then, she felt a lot better just trailing along behind him, though hopefully he wouldn't stop abruptly because she would walk into the back of him she was that close.
At least she'd evolved beyond the point of looping a finger through the belt loop on his trousers. Though that was most likely only because she was hugging the little girl against her chest protectively rather than keeping hold of her alpha for once, "I don't like it.. I don't like it.." Especially as there were people approaching, but she kept herself semi-hidden behind Fabian and there wasn't a spark of electricity to be seen.

Once inside Fabian planned to inform Lottie of the other arrangements that had been made, it was nothing that he thought she would object strongly too but he still thought it best to not overwhelm her with information that might see the primary target of getting her inside come to nothing. Details could be shared afterwards… Although this method of approach could be argued was more for the guard himself than Lottie’s sake, since he didn’t like too many options and things to think over at once he just assumed she would not either. Anyway, it was simply a case of telling her that her room had been moved, as although the lower level of the Secure Facility was capable of housing them both, it still was not good to have a mother and newborn around the area. Why add risks when they can be avoided? Fabian was hoping that Lottie might even enjoy the change to the low risk levels, she could see daylight easier, open a window if she wanted, too. It was overall a bit more baby friendly and in general there would only be other shifters around her or those serving a small timeout, nothing to really worry mother and child. Besides, they would be in a private room, until it was decided what was going to actually happen at least.
Fabian was relieved no objection came to the needles that might be used, some test he would admit looked like they might hurt but he could understand the necessity behind it and the pain would be momentary at best, not that you can explain that to a week old infant… The other comment just made Fabian stare to Lottie a little blankly, sure he knew some bad stuff had gone on with Lottie but had she been drowned before? Starved? He wasn’t sure what to say to that or why she would even think any of it was a possibility but ended up simply shaking his head. “No.” All they wanted to do from what he could tell was make sure she was healthy, Lottie was healthy and find out what abilities the baby had. “I will.” he added on, if he was honest the wolf in him was restless in the back of his mind and wanted to make sure that it watched this other pack member closely like the pup was its own. If allowed, it would be putting a baby monitor in the room and taking the other home with it… But Fabian knew that was overstepping boundaries so for now he kept the animal at bay with the idea that he could trust other guards, in fact was only putting those he fully trusted in change of any of this. Jules as doctor, Ulysses as another shifter with a child, maybe Kaia… Not that she was a guard or medical but she lived in the lake and that was out in the grounds, she could keep half an eye on Lottie should she wonder off again.
As they walked Fabian still listened to anything he might be told but kept quiet, he had little to say to Lottie, she seemed to be making her own way back so he didn’t want to interrupt if she was just finding her own method to process the information and situation. This could still backfire and he sure as hell didn’t want to be the reason for it by giving an unwise comment or a push where it was not needed. But as they reach the medical centre he felt relief too as Lottie went inside with Luna, and he did go ahead of her, blocking the approaching med staff as best he could.
“It’s ok.” Fabian said to Lottie but kept his gaze ahead, even let out a small if somewhat unintentional warning growl for those coming to back off a little. “Only those that are needed.” he said and then looked towards the area that had been pointed out to him before as where the test would be done, then he did focus towards Lottie. “She needs to be in there.” he said while briefly gesturing to a side room down another corridor. But that was all he would say, if Lottie wanted to turn and run he wouldn’t be grabbing her to make her go in that direction. Kid gloves, that was the saying, wasn’t it?

The only real saving grace of her entering the medical center was it's clinical scents. Lottie feared her baby being hurt and there were certain smells that triggered the memories in her own mind for that type of thing, mostly mould, damp, mildew. The burning scent of faded electricity, scorched flesh or even just the scent of salt water would have sent her backpeddling and out of there before Fabian was any wiser. But cleaning products she could work with, antiseptic and such, it was the scents that meant healing and although they made her sensitive nose sting a little she was in no danger of bolting because of that. However, the people approaching did make her a little antsy and she was glad for Fabian's company, in particular that warning growl of his. It might not have been intentional on his part but it did a lot to calm both the wolf and the woman.. Luna just continued to sleep in her arms, she wasn't much of a fussy baby unless hungry, something Lottie didn't realise was such a godsend.
"We need to be in there.." She added with a little murmur, adding to Fabian's instruction simply because she didn't want to leave the baby right now. So she wandered on down the hallway and into the room swiftly, just grateful more than anything to be out of view of all of those eyes and potential hands reaching for the precious bundle she carried. No way. She looked back to make sure that Fabian was still behind her before she went through the door and wouldn't move away from the doorway until he was inside too. Lottie wasn't going to make the mistake of getting locked in an unlockable room with just her and her baby. She'd been drugged before through a hole in a door, they could do it again.
Of course the last time they'd done that she had been literally raging around the room destroying things and making herself a danger mostly to herself rather than anybody else, so they'd safely tranquilised her. She didn't want that to happen again. At least if Fabian was there he could take hold of Luna and keep her safe. He was a good alpha.
Lottie spotted the little plastic crib with the little soft blanket in it almost immediately and she wandered on over to it and carefully placed Luna down into it with a little smile, "there we go," she said softly, "this is a proper bed.." Back in the forest they'd been using more of a nest of blankets to keep her warm and safe. The baby had no clothing other than a little cloth nappy, but the blankets were clean and warm but still Lottie took her time unwrapping her from it so she could gently wrap the cleaner, admittedly softer one around her. By this stage the little girl had opened her eyes, the dark blue of her iris's staring around the room without really seeing, she'd read they can't see very far at this stage but that was completely normal.
"Got to be a big brave girl," she murmured quietly and bent to give her a little kiss on top of the head again. Little did she know they'd have a little issue breaking her skin with a needle. It wouldn't be impossible, just difficult, "mumma loves you," she added, though he gaze had moved now from the small girl to the staff member entering the room, a deathly glare upon her face. A quiet warning. But she behaved herself and backed off hesitantly to stand just in front of Fabian. If she lost her patience and threw herself forward at least he could grab her.. She'd stood near him on purpose.

Fabian nodded, Lottie and the baby needed to be in that room and probably himself too to keep a certain calm going. So he followed and walked into the side room behind the two but didn’t lock the door after himself, for one thing the doctors needed to get inside but also he just did not think shutting themselves in would be at all helpful. Fabian was being guided by some wolf instinct right now and it said keeping a clear method of escape was important, he didn’t think Lottie would bolt at this stage but he would leave her the option. Once inside he kept near the wall next to the door and just watched.
When it came to parenting Fabian really didn’t know the first thing about the subject, sure he had a partner and pets and people said they are like children to some childless individuals and couples but Fabian failed to really see the comparison. A cat was not a baby, a dog was not a shifter child with who knows what else kind of gift or abilities. Zevren, well he could mostly take care of himself too. It all meant Fabian watched with some mild fascination as Lottie settled her baby and spoke to her.
A part of him felt like someone, somewhere had messed things up with their assessment of Lottie as it seemed like she was a natural at this. Was it just mothers instinct? Wolf instinct? A bit of both? Either way Fabian suddenly didn’t think his offer to foster was the best thing for the child. But then, a judgment can’t really be made on this brief interaction, could it? Fabian inwardly frowned, he really hated not having a clear answer to a problem and this problem had him changing his mind what felt like every five minutes for what the best thing to do is. He felt like he needed to take himself out the situation for a while but forced himself to stay in the room, Lottie wanted and needed him here and if the doctors were to get anything productive done he needed to be here too, and yes it was his job, so that helped.
Any thoughts about stepping outside were quickly forgotten anyway as another staff member walked in. Lottie didn’t look happy but she wasn’t sparking from what Fabian could see so he made no move towards her and instead just kept his arms loosely folded as she stepped back. It did for a moment come across his mind to offer a hand to her, maybe hold her hand or would putting it on her shoulder be better? He didn’t have an answer to that either and so kept still, watching, like he said he would.

This was hard.. This was really hard, Lottie seemed to tremble from the effort of keeping herself still as the doctor approached her little girl. He spared a glance in her and Fabian's direction but th reassuring smile on his face went unnoticed by the shewolf, instead she had her gaze fixated upon Luna and was fighting the instinctual need to pick the girl back up and take her away from this clinical place. Her wolf didn't like it at all, but the more submissive beast would trust the alpha that stood behind her. Lottie's own warring emotions were a little more difficult to control though, as much as she claims to 'love' the man behind her she cares an awful lot more about the kid the doctor had now gently unwrapped from it's blanket, checking her little legs, toes and fingers.
Lottie wasn't quite sure what he was doing really, but the baby seemed content enough right now with the attention, one little hand shoving into her mouth to suckle on. Which made Lottie instantly think she was hungry and she let out an involuntary whine like sound and shuffled a little bit closer to the little plastic cot and the hunched over doctor who now seemed to have something in his hand. There was a long, silent moment in which nothing seemed to happen, but just as a nurse entered the room Luna let out a wailing little cry of pain that caused Lottie to pretty much dart forward, pushing the nurse out of the way just so she could see what was happening.
If anybody tried to grab her she'd bite, shove or punch just so she could see what was going on.
That's all she wanted, to see what was happening. But it was just a needle, a needle filling a small vial with crimson blood, the doctor had to press just a little extra effort into piercing the babes skin and that was why Luna had turned red and was currently wailing loudly enough that Lottie's ankles were sparking electricity as she resisted the urge to simply rip her child away from this man and make a break for it. Her gaze went to the door that was still ajar and then to Fabian, panic a little too evident on her face but she'd promised hadn't she? She'd promised she'd be good, so she just crouched down beside Luna, her hand looped over the top of the cot to stroke her hair softly, "shh, shh.. Shh, they won't hurt you proper, they wouldn't dare, mumma will fry them and eat them with puppy," her sentence trailed off to growled words as she glared at the doctor.
Who seemed to get the point and he pulled back with the vial of blood to walk over to Fabian, leaving Lottie cooing over the calming baby. The nurse however, just stood awkwardly near the door until the doctor passed her the vial, then she disappeared.
"We need more than one vial and to perform further tests that will probably make the child upset. Get her out, control her, or we tranquilise her, Adolfo." Lottie wasn't exactly being a massive pain in the ass right now, but she doesn't have the best track record when it comes to hurting staff members or other residents.. Plus it was a little obvious that this doctor had no patience for a sparking shewolf who's threatening to literally eat people. Not that she would, but they don't know that. "And with her history.. We can't let her leave with the baby. She is aware of this?"
If either of them chose to look over at Lottie now she was staring at the both of them wide eyed, her hand gripping the edge of the cot, white knuckled, "puppy?"

There was tension in the air. Fabian could smell it even if he couldn’t name it. It left him feeling uneasy about the situation, anxious even which seemed to make a part of his inner animal slightly angry. Emotions like these were not something it was used to feeling in this environment, control, law and order was the way in the Secure Facility when he was around and working, even in the Medical Centre there was a certain calm and order expected to be followed perhaps even more so due to the nature of the place and what it contained. Nothing though was very calm about this and no rules were really being followed, and things went wrong when you don’t do what you are supposed to do. Fabian wasn’t naturally pessimistic, in his work he took that side though for safety more than anything but right now the attitude was having him thinking all hell would break loose any second and it really wasn’t helping his focus.
If Lottie felt any of it too, he was unsure but the whine she let out didn’t give him much confidence she was coping any better. If that was how she reacted to just the doctor looking then how would she cope when he actually did something to Luna? It meant Fabian took a small step forward just so he could watch the mother better as she was his concern, the doctor in his mind was a professional and still not going to do anything that was not needed to the baby so why worry about him?
But then a nurse came in and thats when it all went down hill… The sudden cry form Luna had Fabian having to fight the urge to cover his ears and instead reach for the nurse to stop her from falling as Lottie shoved her out the way. Fabian kept his gaze on Lottie as it happened though, ready to grab her and drag her out if he needed. As much as this might be all motherly protective instinct, that instinct would be doing more harm than good if it got in the way of these tests.
It didn’t escalate though so Fabian relaxed as much as he could with all the crying and the now sparking that Lottie hard around her feet. He thought about suggesting they step out for a moment but would that help? Hearing but not seeing what was happening? Seeing Lottie look to him, Fabian guessed it would not… she looked more than a little upset right now but she was keeping it together and he didn’t want to punish her for that or add a new element to the situation that could have her tipped over the edge. The eating comment had him go a little wider eyed though, that was not something he had agreed to…
Any comment in response he had to that was interrupted as the doctor walked over, handing the blood to the nurse who soon walked off with it. So was this over now? Fabian would be beyond thankful if it is. But it was not…
Staring to the doctor as he spoke Fabian once again felt his wolf stir and get angry. Was the doctor giving a threat? It might not have been one but thats how the alpha in him took it, a threat to two pack members too. Another low growl escaped him only this time it was a bit more intentional as he was more or less telling the guy without words to back off, or flipping the middle finger, possibly a bit of both. Lottie would be controlled as Fabian had faith she would control herself, he didn’t need telling how to do his job by someone lower in rank than him.
Still…Fabian sort of wanted an emergency alarm to sound right now, maybe a resident to run through screaming and naked, anything to give him an excuse to get out of here because when he took this Head roll he assumed it would come with less bullshit, not more to deal with. Given him a button and a crazed resident to disarm any day over this emotional stuff.
Glancing to Lottie briefly and back to the doctor Fabian folded his arms loosely. “Nothing has been decided yet.” he said firmly. She might not be able to leave but there was no reason she can’t stay in Manson with Luna until what the plan was gets decided on by everyone.

Lottie was wrapping Luna back up again as the doctor spoke to Fabian, she didn't like seeing so much bare skin, she needed to be covered up and kept warm and snug. Really, she was a little annoyed that the doctor had walked away and left her like that, thankfully though there was no blood trickling from the small needle mark on her arm from where they'd taken the blood. She was a quick healer, even her little belly button was healed over flawlessly, leaving the cutest (in her opinion) tummy to blow raspberries on. There was a moment where she wondered whether Fabian would take her out of the room so the doctor could finish his examination but then there was that growl and Lottie's wolf perked up happily, so did the woman.
She smoothed her hand over Luna's blonde peach fuzz hair and remembered her own little promise. She'd be good, she had to be, otherwise they'd take her away and put her in that room on her own. Or they'd stick her with a little needle and make her sleep, it's happened time and time before and she hoestly doesn't want that to happen again. She can't watch over Luna is she's locked away or sleeping.. The thought is enough to make her realise that she needs to let them look her over and do it properly, that's what she said she wanted, what all of the books said the doctor's were supposed to do. It had been that cry, she hadn't heard her daughter in pain before and it hadn't been easy.
She whimpered softly and kissed her on the forehead before backing off again, growling a little, "just do your job properly.. Or will be chewing on your ribs." Which was unlikely, she knew that, puppy wasn't the eating doctor's type, neither was she really, she prefers deer, but she doesn't have any other threat to use that wouldn't put Luna or Fabian in danger too. She doesn't want to light up with electricity and hurt those she cares about.
So as the doctor went back to work on the baby in the cot, after having cast Fabian a somewhat stoney stare of course. Lottie missed that stare, otherwise she may not have gone to sit on the floor against the wall just behind the guard, reaching up only to lightly link her little finger around his. Though she'd let it fall if he shook her off even a little. At least it was better than sitting at his feet like a lapdog and hugging his leg, "better not take long.. She's hungry, so hurry up. Tell them, puppy, or she'll start crying again, she will, and I'll be taking her back then. He can't stop me."
She sounded determined there. Fabian had just given her a little more confidence that she was behaving just find.
