Ziggy was not looking forward to this session, he still had a fixed image in his mind as to how his counsellor was going to look and act, and neither mental picture was very flattering. While he was sure this ‘Ulysses’ bloke was probably nice enough or as nice as you can get for someone who is paid to make you go over the worst in your life, it still made him dread this more than all the poking and prodding of the medical assessments, and not just for the fact the guy might be harder to manipulate. By now Ziggy assumed more of his history might have been found too, he hadn't been giving full answers to questions but there was only so much you can deny before people make a guess to where you come from, and who knows how that was going to be interpreted? Ziggy was mostly worried if this guy could get his level altered based what was read and he said, as far as the fox knew it was a ‘three’ currently, so no guard, no tag and no below level room. But maybe high enough for other residents to be cautions? Perfect really.
Sitting in the waiting area Ziggy tapped the arm of his chair, he only been waiting ten minutes but he was bored and then frowned slightly before standing and going over to a vaguely obscured notice board with pictures on it of the therapy team, that he hadn’t noticed until now… “Huh.” He said sounding pleasantly surprised, while thinking maybe this won’t be so bad after all, this Ulysses dude was a bit of of eye candy.

Lyss is a little scatterbrained when it comes to organising himself at the best of times, he thought he would have plenty of time to see to a patient in the secure ward who had been asking for him before returning with plenty of time for his next session with a new patient. It hadn't turned out quite like that, he hadn't been able to get away from the other patient as quickly as he'd thought he would but he had made a lot of progress with the guy. Now though, he was tardy and in a bit of a rush to get back to the office. It didn't help that the weather outside was beautiful as he walked back either.. It was nice enough for him to wish he could stay out here rather than return to his office and the window that never quite lets in enough air. This would be the perfect weather to go sky diving.
But he returned to the offices, passing the waiting room where he spotted the red head stood in front of the notice board. He'd seen the picture pinned to his file when he'd recieved the thing and he was admittedly somebody who was striking enough to make an impact in his memory. That, paired with the name.. Plus he smelt like a shifter. He couldn't identify him as a fox if he were asked to make a guess but he would now, his scent was identifiable enough.
"Ziggy?" He questioned with an easy enough smile on his lips, "I'm Lyss, do you want to come on through? Make yourself comfortable." If not then they could go outside instead. He doesn't need a sofa and a bookshelf to chat away to somebody. He just needs his patient to be relaxed enough to not be uptight and utterly silent. Silence doesn't make him feel awkward, but it's exactly very helpful. He gestured for Ziggy to follow him and left the doorway to his office open for the guy to just come on inside.
If he didn't follow then Lyss would just grab himself his water flask from his desk and come out to find him again.

Now he was looking at the board, Ziggy didn’t think any of the current therapy team looked too awful, the one listed as ‘Head of Counselling’ in particular struck the fox as someone he would gladly tell his pin number to (if he had one) should the guy ask politely enough. What all this said about his personality, Ziggy wasn’t sure, he guessed if he asked someone here they might have a good explanation as to why he so readily rates people he never met on attractiveness and what they could do for him, but he admit himself he was just a bit of a man-whore.
A voice then broke Ziggy’s focus away and he looked to Ulysses in the flesh. Oh yeah, he got the scent of wolf now...and dude had an accent, that was sweet and a bonus point for him in Ziggy's mind. But it wasn’t obvious from the name what kind of person Lyss would be, his staff photo gave some clues and now seeing the guy and hearing him gave Ziggy a bit more confidence he wouldn’t be dealing with a total tool, although if Lyss would be one of those ‘share a joint in the playground’ types or ‘slap his ass and get cuffed’ ones remained to be seen.
Following in after the guy gestured to do so, Ziggy went to a chair and hooked a foot around one of the legs to drag it back some more and then dropped himself down into it. For now he was going to tread carefully, he doubted he would get lucky twice and meet the staff version of Ez so soon.
“S’up.” he said with a small nod. “You know, you ain’t how I pictured a therapist.” Ziggy just felt he would share that thought at least, “Was kinda not looking forward to this but think you have changed my mind.” It really depended how the line of questioning went. A smile followed but for once the fox was only meaning the comment in a friendly way.

He usually forgets about the australian twang in his voice, of course he knows where he comes from but not many people mention his accent as something different. Either that or his friends are just all too used to it.. Either way, if Ziggy mentioned it he'd just point out the werefox's accent in return. He'd also laugh if he heard the two extremes of staff that the guy had in his head, he wasn't either of those types, neither quick to issue protocol induced punishment nor quick to break the rules. He's more of a slow rule breaker, somebody who wants to make people feel better about themselves despite how messed up they may be. So far he hasn't caused anybody to have a breakdown, he counts that as a win in his books.
Lyss dropped down into his own seat and took a swig out of his water bottle, leaving it open as he held it in his hands. A blonde eyebrow quirked up a little and he looked undeniably amused at Ziggy's admission, "what did you expect? A tweed suit, patches on the elbows? Like a substitute teacher, but with a clipboard?" Because that's what he used to think whenever he used to think of a counsellor. But he'd learnt anybody can be anything. He wasn't judging this guy before he knew him.. Just like he hadn't judged anybody else, though from first impressions he'd say Ziggy was confident, sure of himself. He didn't necessarily need therapy, but he was paid to review anybody they sent his way and so he would.
He'd changed his mind? Before he'd even said anything, which meant one of two things. The werefox either liked the way he looked or.. Well, that was actually all he could think of and it made Lyss chuckle quietly, "anything I can do to make you feel comfortable. This isn't an interrogation or anything, more of a friendly chat." To assess whether or not he needs some further help or further sessions.. Obviously he'd have to see him a few times to evaluate properly, but after that, who knows for sure? Though.. Considering the blanks in his history Lyss is curious as to what he's hiding.
"How are you settling in so far?"

If Ziggy was honest then yes, the tweed suit, substitute teacher-ish look was what he had expected, he sort of figured Lyss would be much older too in appearance but the counsellor seemed to be in his mid thirties. Of course the fox knew in reality the guy might be older than that but doubted by much if he was only a werewolf like Ez claimed, and it briefly made him wonder how qualified the guy can be. Didn’t it take years to train in this sort of thing? Longer if you are dealing with supernatural psychos? “Kinda.” Ziggy admitted with a slightly sheepish smile, “Guess shouldn’t be quick to judge, hu?” That was said more for the counsellors benefit, personally Ziggy would always judge first and happily be corrected later, it is what kept you alive.
If getting comfy was the aim, really Ziggy was ok as he was but it crossed his mind to throw out the suggestion they both get naked, grab a cushion each and just sprawl out on the floors because being that they were both part animal, sitting up and wearing clothes was pretty unnatural. But Ziggy held back, the last comment about Lyss’s appearance changing his mind might have been a joke too soon, he didn’t want to come across too much of a troll so soon. Neutral, that was what he was aiming for, he had to keep to that for now or just hide his bad traits as best possible. Sympathy can go a long way in your favour if used correctly.
“I’m fine.” he said with a small shrug and glanced away and around the room, lifting and arm to light chew at the cuff of his shirt, just a mildly nervous habit, as oddly enough being in a room with windows but not being outside was a bit weird to him. He was being (semi) honest to Ez when he said he needed to see the sky, he just rather there was no walls between it and him. If he was to be cut off from the world, cut it off completely.
Lowering his arm again, Ziggy gave a shrug. “Fine. Getting around, seems food is easier to find so can’t complain.” No need to mention ‘food’ was the people in this case. “Kinda feels like I am being detained without a sentence though.”
Compared to others here, Ziggy kind of saw himself as damn near saintly so he wasn’t entirely sure why he was being made to stay, as convenient as it was, Manson in that sense was no different to his Sire’s coven. If this place turned out to be no better or even worse though, he did plan to leave.

"Perhaps not," but then that's just something that people do. They judge others. Some before other people have even said a single word, in Ziggy's case though it had been before he'd even laid eyes on him. It made Lyss wonder if there was anybody who this man in his office trusted. To judge early was to be somewhat cynical. Especially if you expect the worst of somebody. Perhaps some old sod wearing a tweed suit wasn't the 'worst' of things to imagine of somebody, but it did paint a picture of somebody who wasn't necessarily willing to listen. Or would respond to comments with irritating questions like 'how does that make you feel?' or suggestions such as 'perhaps start a journal'. It would make counselling sessions something to dread rather than something that could help.
As for his qualifications.. He had the necessary certificates hanging on his wall, it's amazing how much studying you can do when you can quite literally slow time down to a near enough standstill. Not that Ziggy would know that.
The idea of nakedness would simply earn a laugh from the blonde, he would take the guy seriously but it would have made him laugh and decline none the less. Getting naked with his patients wasn't something he wanted to be known for. Bram.. Well, he was a separate person altogether. He was no longer much of a patient, the hybrid was family, pack.. Somebody it was absolutely fine to get naked and do other things with. Nakedness would only occur at work if he plans on shifting and he rather likes his opposable thumbs right now. Besides.. Accidentlly shifting seems to happen only when he's surrounded by a bunch of other wolves and his wants to assert some kind of dominance. Luckily for him he doesn't often spend time around many other wolves.
The nervous habit did not go amiss.. But Ziggy said he was perfectly comfortable. If he'd admitted that he'd rather be outside then they'd spend the session in some shade on the ground rather than within this room. But Ulysses is no mind reader, nor does he pretend to be so the offer wasn't made. He'd wait and see whether or not the guy would chew at his sleeve again, seeing him do it once did not make it a habit.
"What makes you think you're detained without a sentence? You attacked somebody, Ziggy, you're not human.. This place exists to make sure that everybody's safe, human and supernatural alike. We can help you here. If that means controlling urges, or even something as simple as life skills." Some might want to hold supremacy over the residents here, but Lyss was one of those who wanted to help as much as he was capable of, "of course, you might not need this place at all. But the fact remains that you attacked somebody who works here. That's enough for the security to drag you in for assessment at least. I'll try and make it as painless as possible."

It was hard to tell so far just what Lyss knew and didn’t, Ziggy guessed he could just outright ask the man about what info had been passed on but would that make him seem suspicious? The little joke form before had been taken well enough but that wasn’t enough for Ziggy to judge if the counsellor was a rule follower or a rule breaker, or whether or not anything he was doing or saying wasn’t getting mentally noted down for later use against him, not that the fox would blame Lyss. If positions were reversed he would do exactly the same.
Ziggy already assumed his reason for being taken here would be written but the specifics it seemed were not, but then he knew it was always going to be his own word against that staff member so he guessed it didn’t really matter, his side was probably irrelevant. “Fight or flight.” Ziggy said with a shrug, he couldn’t do the latter (didn’t want to at least) so he did the former. “One incident seems a bit harsh to lock a person away for an indefinite period. Haven’t been told how long I’m held for. That’s what makes me think it.” The reaction here and you would think he had killed someone, which he felt was a bit ironic considering what his formal slave role was.
Sitting up more now, Ziggy crossed a leg over the other and refocused to the counsellor. Painless this might be but it was still a little annoying and the only reason Ziggy was tolerating it was because the dude wasn’t annoying to look at. “So what more do you need to know? Kinda been poked and prodded everywhere already. Can’t think there is more to assess. Should be able to tell I am not crazy, not violent, have good control over my shifting too. Any skills I need, I know already.” If he sounded confident, well because Ziggy was and maybe pushing that a bit too far, but he couldn’t stop himself. He doubted Lyss was going to be much of an aid to him so seemed best, if not having therapy was an option, to not have to come here.
But taking a breath Ziggy reminded himself of the 'neutral' approach he was meaning to have. "Sorry, this all just seems a little pointless. I am sure my place could be better taken by someone who needs it. Honestly, feels like as my past is a bit of a mystery, people here are hanging on to me. Doesn't mean I am hiding anything bad, no bodies I swear."

Lyss wasn't going to be giving away everything he knows so far about Ziggy because there were inconsistancies that he himself could see, spaces in which little information had been given, areas in which details were vague at best. Lyss doesn't expect anybody to give a detailed history, he hadn't himself, but at least there had been a viable excuse as to why he was missing years. He couldn't quite shake the fact that Ziggy was holding back on purpose, for whatever reason that be. Embarrassment, shame, regret, perhaps even because he doesn't want his freedom fully restricted. He doesn't know. He might even be wrong, but, he'd wait and see. No judgement either way..
He listened as the other guy spoke and frowned thoughtfully, "well.. Why don't you tell me how it happened? Security's handwriting is terrible at best and your notes have yet to be typed up into eligible writing." Which was a mild lie, but once again, there weren't a massive amount of details that he was privy too, "as for the length of your stay, that's entirely down to you. Be a model resident and you'll be out of here quicker than you realise.. Raise suspicions," which he already was with him but hey, Lyss wasn't revealing that either, "and you'll find yourself here longer. Either way, we aren't terrible people." There are terrible people within Manson though, but he was gathering that Ziggy would be aware of that already. Hopefully. "Just be honest."
Regardless, his room has already been assigned to the dorms and so he hopefully wouldn't find himself face to face with anybody murderous.
"Your violence levels were assessed when you were brought in," Lyss told the guy after taking another sip of his water and this time placing the bottle on the side table, "if anything I'd say you were patient. Intelligent enough to realise the situation that you've found yourself in and so you're adjusting appropriately to make the best of a bad hand." Attacking people just isn't done, if Ziggy hadn't harmed the staff member then perhaps it would be different, but he had attacked. Prone to violence. That was why he'd been placed in the violence category and for now Lyss wasn't so convinced that should be changed. Oppuurtunistic violence is still violence. "Tell me if I'm wrong, of course, these are only assumptions based upon experience."
And the Ziggy went and apologised, not quite changing his tune but some thought must have crossed his mind for him to come out with that last little spiel. It was almost exactly what he would expect to hear from somebody who was genuinely out of place and confused as to why they had been restrained within Manson.. It made sense to the human, but the wolf inside of him let out a low warning growl, an inward sound that never made it past his lips, "then what are you hiding?" He had just admitted to hiding something. If not bad then what was it? A lie of ommission is still a lie.

Ziggy knew he was not really innocent in the attack on the staff member, at best he could blame ignorance, stupidity even for the way things had turned out, but never could he be blameless. Of course it would not stop him from peddling that story out and the less he took accountability for the less he had to remember.
It usually worked for him but here it seemed they were just not going to buy vague admissions or let things drop. In caused Ziggy to inwardly sigh, he had gotten too used to his word being taken as gospel simply from the fact he came across to eloquently compared to other slaves. Now given the chance to give his side, the fox wasn’t sure if he should take it but in the end figured he had little to lose. His side obviously favoured him but still would be mostly factual… he couldn’t help but inwardly chuckle at the instruction to be honest though, he could be as honest as his species allowed, but they don’t call a fox cunning for no reason.
“Well, not going to deny that a labrador sized fox would draw attention but I was hungry. Hadn’t eaten in a week. I was out, found a bin with food then that staff member spotted me. How was I to know who he was? All I saw was an angry looking bloke coming my way and backing me into a corner and trying to grab me.” Ziggy guessed he shouldn’t have tried to steal his wallet but as he already claimed, he was hungry, had planned to buy food with it when the bin smelt more rotten than it looked.
Then came the flight or fight response… Hungry and frightened, that would make most animals fight, wouldn’t it? Looking to Lyss as he drank, Ziggy kept quiet, glad the man agreed at least that he was coherent enough to know what was going on and not just label him with the nutters they seemed to house here with no control over anything.
It still did not justify in Ziggy’s mind dragging him in here but he supposed it was all a formality maybe, that Lyss might be correct and if he just went through the motions he be out again soon enough. It be a shame to loose contact with those who would be easy prey (and obviously there were a lot here) but Ziggy didn’t think he could deal with the rules for too long. “I would say that was fair, but then I don’t really have a choice right now.” Adjust or die, it was that way before and would be now but he wasn’t sure he had the patience to bend things to his liking again.
Though the growl was not audible, the animal in Ziggy sensed a shift in tone for a moment and did not really like it but calm as ever the fox just stared to the counsellor. This guy really liked to rake over things, didn’t he? Read into things, it was a bit annoying.
“Nothing is hidden.” Ziggy replied, if you look at his history he thinks it is fairly obvious as to where he came from, or doesn’t, depending how you look at it. “You are all just asking for information I can’t give because I don’t know.” He would say he was being loyal too but that would be an outright lie that he wasn’t even sure he could say with any amount of being convincing. He didn’t care if his Sire was found or not, didn’t care if any of the other slaves were rescued based on what info he shared or didn’t, didn’t much care for the dude who brought him or he wouldn’t have run off given the first opportunity. Ziggy was for Ziggy, he just pretended it was otherwise.
“People like me are not given birth dates, addresses, nationality. I picked my own name, you know?” If things he had done were to come out he rather take control over the info. Ziggy wasn’t going to use the word ‘slave’ but he was trying to hint to it, he felt it made the whole victim persona more believable and would be better for him in the long run, particularly as he really didn’t want his level higher or to stay here longer than needed. That would happen if they became aware of half the shit he had done, most of it quite willingly.

If that was the state of affairs that he was in out there in the world then why would he be so against staying someplace where there was plenty of food for the taking. Breakfast, lunch and dinner all served and free. A week was an awfully long time to not having eaten. The brief explanation really gave Lyss more questions than answering any but he kept his comments to himself for the moment, he didn't think that interrogating this guy would be the way to help him out. If anything he'd probably end up zipping his lips and not saying a thing. Ulysses prefers to have a friendlier relationship with his patients.
"Why hadn't you eaten in a week? That seems a long time to go without if you're not opposed to eating thrown out food.." That instead seemed like a safe enough question rather than asking why there was nobody out there to make sure that he did things like that. People who care about other people don't let them go hungry. Especially not hungry enough to go dumpster diving, that couldn't be sanitary even for a shifter.. Unless he did know people out there and they hadn't been looking after him very well. There were those who were severely neglected by so called 'owners' in Manson.. One of which he was occassionally sharing a bed with come to think of it.
And it shouldn't matter who the person is.. Violence isn't really an acceptable response to things. However, his wolf does disagree with him on occassion there, but the wolf doesn't hold itself to human laws.
There was no question in Lyss's mind why Ziggy had been brought into Manson. Not only had he attacked somebody but he had also been obviously famished if he was eating from a bin. The counsellor would have thought that he needed help as well and probably would have called somebody in to help him bring the guy in. But then he also probably would have tried to speak to Ziggy first.. At least not made him choose between 'flight' and 'fight'. Lyss at least likes to think he's not overly intimidating when he's not trying to be.
The blonde just listened patiently and really the longer he spoke the more his mind thought of possibilities and he did wonder more towards whether or not he'd been owned. Escaped perhaps? Or something. "I can't make assumptions, Ziggy," even though he had this unwavering feeling that the fox was hinting towards something, "you need to tell me what you want me to know, I don't suppose you'd believe me when I say anything you do tell me is confidential? Things you ask to be kept out of the record will be cut, as long as you keep me as your counsellor of course." Plus any information he does share will end up being used to track the guy down if he runs away.. If it'd be helpful of course, if not he'd still keep it to himself.
However, he smiled at Ziggy, "I'd understand why you wouldn't trust me, but trust me. I can't help you unless you do." Just like he had done for Dutch, just like he hopes he'd done with Bram. The hybrid seemed happier these days anyway, that made him happy. There were others.. There was no reason why he couldn't do the same with this guy.

Was a week a long time? Ziggy did not think so, if he slept with the right person and went without too much use of his gifts, one person’s life essence could easily support him a week, but it seemed with actual food that might be different. Ziggy wasn’t too used to eating real food much, his metabolism was naturally a bit slow so he did not often feel very hungry. It was more facts he was not overly keen on sharing until he knew how restrictive the staff here were going to be in terms of access to what he really liked to live off, didn’t want any forced starvation because that was the only way to stop him using his gifts. “Locks, mainly.” Ziggy replied plainly. “People don’t like the normal foxes and rats getting into things, creates mess I suppose. And more shops are getting all eco aware, throwing out less.” It might not be a full answer or explain why he would dive into a bin in the first instance but it was the one Ziggy was going to give for now.
Ziggy wasn’t sure if Lyss was deeming this all a valid excuse or not, he didn’t seem to be making notes so that seemed a promising sign. He did hope that Lyss would fill in the blanks but it seemed he shared at least one of the annoying traits he thought counsellors possessed, ‘how does that make you feel’, ‘what do you think that means’ answers to everything instead of just giving a solution or letting things go. Fair enough, the fox thought to himself, maybe it was better Lyss was not making assumptions, that might actually be worse.
It was really hard to know and genuinely something that was throwing the fox off his game, at least with other slaves he knew his role and position, it was easy to get them to fall into line and do what he asked or believe what he said. He knew too he was far more useful to his Sire alive, that was reason enough to act a bit cocky and push his luck on more than one occasion. Even within the owned group there was some kind of hierarchy, he wanted to be on top of it here too.
But Ziggy did not fully believe things would stay in these walls and he hesitated a little longer rather than just spill what he was trying to hint towards, he assumed if he was to seem at all traumatised he probably should keep quiet a little more, make it seem he was slowly trusting this counsellor. Even if Lyss can’t be useful Ziggy didn’t want to have to go through all this again with someone else because his file had been handed over. For all he knew another counsellor could have empathic skills and see through half his bullshit. “Will show you.” He said and then leaned forward in his seat, reaching down to his foot to untie a trainer and pull it off. “Not leaving this room, right?” he asked, flicking his gave up briefly then pulled the shoe off and a sock. Ziggy wasn't too worried if it did, he doubted his old owner could be traced, and he run from them once he was confident he could again.
Crossing a leg over the other he looked down to his foot. “That was my number. Each slave was given one.” he said pointing to a small, faint tattoo on his ankle. Ziggy could have used his gift to dissolve and heal over the ink but he chose to keep it, it had proven useful in the past to have it and might be right now. “You stay useful, you stay alive and fed. Until you get sold, then who knows. I was lucky, guy who brought me wasn’t too awful. Didn’t want to stay though, even if I did get to eat off a plate.”
Dropping his foot down he looked back to Lyss. “Don’t really want to go back there or to my buyer. Things were always a bit ruthless. Not saying street life is easy but it’s freedom.” Sure, he knew he started a lot of the fights his Sire had to break up but it wasn’t completely intentionally, werwolves were just too damn obsessive about rules and loyalty, ‘wah, wah, I thought you liked me.’ He would laugh at the thought if he wasn’t trying to come across as at all sad right now. “Not going to return me now, right?” he asked with a nervous chuckle.

Lyss wasn't exactly aware that this guy didn't just eat food like the average person but absorbed energy from those he got close too. So a week was an awfully long time to go without a meal, especially for a shifter, right? His own appetite had increased exponentially since he'd become a werewolf, perhaps that was natural for his species but not for foxes? He still has a lot to learn about the individual species out there, but he's always willing to listen and learn. To each and every person he comes across. Ziggy's answer wasn't very informative at all, of course people locked their bins to keep animals out, and the homeless.. It was unsanitary and disgusting.
"I apologise, I should have been a little more specific," he knew that the guy was probably avoiding the question, he didn't think that Ziggy was daft, the other man knew what he meant and the counsellor knew it. Why avoid the question though? That was the answer that he really wanted but to ask it would be to basically accuse Ziggy of weasling out of answering honestly. Or, being a sly fox about it all. "Why did you not have food readily available to eat where you were living..?" If he even had a home. Was he a literal stray fox? How sad.. Lucky he hadn't been found by Bram though, that could have been a tragedy waiting to happen. The thought made a small amused breath leave him but he wouldn't explain it.
Mostly because the fox was removing his shoe and sock, leaving Lyss looking somewhat perplexed but he nodded mutely at the question asked in his direction. If there's anything that he's good at it's keeping secrets of his patients from the administration of Manson. They didn't need to know everything, only the things that would make them a danger to others or to themselves and the information he was learning now was private enough that nobody needed to know other than the guy's counsellor.. Which he was hoping would be him from here on out.
A slave. Lyss's brow furrowed as his gaze took in the faded number inked into his skin, he belonged to somebody then.. But why hadn't they been looking after Ziggy? Wasn't he useful anymore? Lyss could understand entirely why he hadn't come clean about this, being somebody's property wasn't something he'd imagine somebody as confident as this guy would be proud about divulging to others. Especially if he was a runaway, there might be some in Manson who'd be interested in returning him to where he belonged. Luckily for him Lyss was one of those who didn't particularly like the idea of anybody belonging to anybody else.
Bram's outlook on it all had confused him at first, he was somebody who wanted to belong to a more severe level than those who just wanted to be involved.. he could understand the security behind it. Briefly the thought of the two having spent time
"Here you'll never have to dive into a bin for food.." And he wouldn't have to go far for the other type of meal he looked for either, "and don't worry, if I have it my way you'll never have to return to the either of the people who believed they could own your life. We're a little more modern minded here, you're your own person." Unless he wants to find himself an owner. But, he didn't get that feeling from the werefox, "and freedom, well, that depends upon your behaviour. But I can't see you having an issue as long as you don't lay a violent hand upon anybody inside these walls." Or outside of them. You never know who might be watching..

Maybe Lyss should have been more specific but even if he had been, Ziggy would have found a way to reply without actually giving away more information than he wanted, maybe later he would answer fully but for now this all was going to be played out on his own terms, Ziggy had to feel on top and in control one way or another. If that made him come across as evasive or awkward, the fox didn’t care. That would work for him right now, he rather seem like a bit of a mystery since it seemed without solid facts, the staff here could not do a lot to him. Of course a balance was needed too, don’t want the blanks filled in with something worse than the reality was, even if the reality was likely far worse than whatever the staff could invent.
Giving a small shrug Ziggy looked away, still not planning to expand on the answer he gave yet even if Lyss likely knew he was avoiding it. “It’s complicated.” he replied just so he wasn’t totally ignoring the other man, that might be written down as rude and Ziggy only wanted to seem compliant if a bit standoff-ish. That was a trait he could blame on his history when it came to sharing more.
Ziggy’s focus came back when it seemed Lyss found something funny, that was a bit odd but he didn’t question it either, maybe it was the mental picture of a fox rooting around a bin? Ziggy would admit that was a little funny... not that he had actually done it much. Anyway, it was complicated why he didn’t get fed. Well fed slaves are strong slaves and who wants that? And yes, he did eat in a different way a lot of the time, that was something he had to keep on a need to know basis and very few needed to know. For sure not the people he fed off or his Sire and future owner. If they knew he had this hidden reserve of strength that belied his weaker appearance then he couldn’t exactly claim to be blameless in any fights or if caught under whatever slavemate he pulled his way to snack on.
Really the only reason Ziggy was sharing more now was to avoid Lyss filling in the gaps himself or passing things on for someone else to do it. This guy seemed the sympathetic sort, emotional to some degree, the fox figured that could work for him. He took in Lyss’s face as he showed the tattoo and explained what it meant, hoping it went someway to explaining why he might not be forthcoming with details. Ziggy didn’t think his counsellor was stupid, he know his patient even in this brief meeting wouldn’t be the personality to willingly be owned. And Ziggy was not, he couldn’t do a lot about it at the time but he made it work for him, Lyss did not need to know the details of how he did that. For whatever reason most frown on the idea of bettering yourself at the expense of others.
Ziggy gave a faint smiling hearing he wouldn’t have to find food in bins here and that Lyss at least would not be returning him to his owner, that came as a genuine relief to the fox who actually had no clue how capable anyone here is of tracking down people like that. His Sire was no concern, she had sold him, he had no connection there now. “That would be nice. Bin food isn’t great.” he said with a hint of amusement. Though normal Ziggy would question how modern minded people here can be when they lock you up like zoo animals, the only difference here to previously he could see was that here you at least have your own room and a bed, but sarcasm needed to be reigned in right now. “So, you have things that stop people being tracked here then? Just… I cost a lot. Someone might be looking or offering some reward if they hear about it.” Ziggy actually doubted his buyer wanted him back, he hardly been a model slave.
“I am honestly not a violent person.” he lied, knowing the trait was there or one to be on top at least. “I don’t want to start fights or anything, the fox in me wants to defend itself of course but I am no vampire or werewolf. It’s not like I am going to come out better off in most things.” It was why he fights dirty. “Taking a punch, that I can do.” he laughed a little again then started to pull his sock and shoe back on.
“Are there other ex slaves here?” he asked curiously, he knew he might not be told names but it would be useful to know and seek them out and find out what they knew if anything at all, maybe use any lingering submissive traits to his advantage, maybe even find if they had the same owner at some point.

He might not have been ignoring Lyss but he was ignoring the question entirely and the counsellor made a mental note of that. But he wouldn't be pushing too far in order to try and get the guy to explain, if he did then he'd probably only end up making him clam up or turn him angry.. Lyss would rather not face either of those reactions, not for the first meeting anyway. They have time, he doesn't need to know every single detail of the guy's life. He doubts he's trusted right now anyway.
"If it's complicated then perhaps save it for another time." Though in all honesty now that he knows that Ziggy was once a slave he could probably figure it out for himself. Slaves aren't people really, not in their own right, they're property. If they don't make you happy then they don't get fed. If you feed them too much then they might expect it and become lazy.. Have to keep them in line. It's a different and a fucked up world. Unfortunately, he has little memory of his experience as a belonging. He's aware now that he once belonged to the higher fae, but, the memories still haven't returned fully. So he can't exactly empathise.
It was quite pleasant to see that Ziggy found amusement in the dire situation he'd found himself in. Bin food he can't imagine does taste all too good, especially in the heat that the country was experiencing at the moment. Just the thought of a swltering bin was eough to make him feel a little nauseated actually. Talk about desperation.. But in the blonde's mind at least he was 'saved' from that life now. No more dumpster diving for the fox. Lyss thought for a few moments about his question before nodding shortly, "Yes. If you need something to hide you from any tracking spell then I can ask one of our witches to make up something for you, a charm of some sort. Though, anybody who tries to storm Manson to take you away wouldn't get very far. We may not seem like much but we do look after those who are under our protection."
Ulysses inhaled a little at the subtle change in scent, though he's not so good at smelling when somebody's lying so the little lie of his went unnoticed, though he can't say that anybody who attacks somebody is not at least slightly a violent person. Not to mention he must have seen some things in his life as a slave, that marrs a person, so 'not a violent person' by his standard might not be the same as normal society standards. But at the same time he himself isn't a violent person, but he's pretty damn sure the wolf inside of him would bite anybody that tried to corner him so.. Can he really hold that against the guy? Not really. Time will tell.
"There are.." He answered somewhat cautiously in return, "for obvious reasons I can't share names or any information that might give away their identity, but I can ask them to see if they'd be interested in a conversation? If they accept or not is entirely down to them." Bram does have a habit of doing what he asks of him though, he'd have to somehow make it seem like it's not something he wants him to do but is just a request. Maybe he'd ask tonight..
"I myself wasn't exactly a traditional slave, but I spent a good few years of my life belonging to the fae," he offered Ziggy a small smile, "I have hardly any memory of that time, but from what I hear they treated me well. But I was human. Gifted, but human. I suppose I was considered fragile. Your last owner, were they supernaturals?" Or some billionaire human after some oddity in this world. People would pay thousands for somebody who could shift shape. For whatever reason.

After an initial feel like he might lose control of this situation, Ziggy was once again feeling a bit more inward calm now Lyss was seeming to accept a few of his answers. If this all had an impact later on only time would tell, the fox was not going to worry in advance, it was a master of bending things to it’s liking whatever the situation, he had done it before and would again even if he somehow got slapped with an advance level and tailed by a guard everywhere. If nothing else Ziggy figures he get a chance to see what happens when he slaps one of them on the arse… it was likely nothing good but he was honest when he told Ez that with the idea implanted in his head he wanted to try it out. So he just nodded when Lyss suggested they save the explanation of his eating habits for another time, Ziggy didn’t think he could explain it fully without seeming like a total manwhore either, so best to wait until he could without it denting his freedom too much or Lyss forgot the whole matter.
Which might have been easier had he not revealed the slave business but for now Ziggy felt revealing might aid him more than keeping secrets. As long as the finer details were kept hidden he did not think the knowledge would be too much of a problem. The way he saw it, with the staff he would be seen as a victim and treated accordingly (so not locked up like a monster), with the other residents should they find out, he thinks they would either feel sympathy and that was always a useful emotion to exploit or they see him as a victim too and try and take advantage, in which case Ziggy planned to soon knock them down a few levels to learn their place. Under him, in every sense given the option.
But the reality was, Ziggy did not want to go back to his previous owner or his Sire regardless of if either would still have him. His question about racking was more from wondering how such a device or spell could make his natural ability to cover his scent that bit more effective and of course if he could wear something or just be here and not be followed it meant less effort expended on his gift and more left for enjoyment purposes. “I don’t know if I need it but, maybe?” he said with a small shrug, guessing he possibly shouldn’t come across too knowledgeable. “I would be more worried for the others here really…” Another half lie but he thought it sounded good. “Someone wanting to get to me through them kind of thing. Or just taking someone else as compensation.” It had happened before only he had been the one to accept a bribe in order for another slave to be picked up. “But security here does seem good.” Ziggy knew he was rambling a bit now but it was mostly just from wanting to hide his usual self assured and cocky nature.
He guessed the only reason Lyss might be buying this at all was because there was a bit of truth in what he was saying. It was hard to tell though if the claim to be non-violent was really being accepted when there was clear evidence to the contrary so Ziggy could only hope eventually it got downplayed as a ‘fear’ reaction, his animal instinct taking over rather than a natural part of his personality. Ziggy would have asked about the wristband colours but he guessed he shouldn’t seem too keen to have it altered when so far it wasn’t actually impacting him all that much.
As expected Lyss was not going to share any names but knowing such people existed was enough for Ziggy to start making a plan, namely looking out for any tattoos. “I get that, but it would be nice, if they are willing.” Ziggy replied with a small smile, because if Lyss was ok to do some of the work for him the fox was not going to say no. “We were never allowed to talk much to each other so… yeah, be nice to speak about experiences freely. Might even know one of them.” In which case some damage control might be needed but Ziggy wasn’t too worried, a lot of the other slaves were nuts, who would believe what they said?
When Lyss started talking about his own experience though Ziggy had to fight the urge to eyeroll and instead just frown a little in sympathy. He didn’t think the situations were at all comparable especially since Lyss couldn’t remember the event, sometimes the fox genuinely wished he could wipe his own memory of his captive time, he counted Lyss lucky really. “Lucky.” Ziggy slipped out with just a hint of bitterness. “To not remember, I mean.” And to be treated well, Ziggy was sure that only happened for him as he made damn sure it happened.
As for what his last owner was Ziggy nodded, “A vampire. Both times. Only worked with other supernaturals, less risk that way.” As conditioned and nuts as he saw a lot of other slaves, he was positive many would kill any purely human owner, even a gifted might have a hard time. Ziggy knew he for sure would not have been above taken advantage of a gifted owner.
