If Lyss was overly worried about what Ziggy was hiding then there would be repercussions, he'd be watched a little ore closely, monitored beyond what he would be with the level that he currently was. But, he didn't really feel that the fox was hiding anything dangerous, there was nothing that told him that the forer slave was particularly dangerous anyway. Perhaps not trustworthy, he was taking most of the things that he said with a pinch of salt. But, it was impossible not to feel kind of sorry for him simply because of the mark upon his ankle, Lyss wouldn't even call it a tattoo. The meaning behind it made it more of a brand.
He's very unlikely to forget that Ziggy had said that he hadn't eaten for a week.. That's not the type of thing that any decent counsellor would forget. He'd just bring it up at a later date when the guy's a little relaxed around him. There was no rush, Ziggy most definitely wasn't going anywhere yet.
"You don't need to worry about any of us," meaning everybody else within Manson, Lyss has a lot of faith in the security here and the abilities in which the staff have. If somebody did manage to sneak beyond Manson's walls and take somebody to replace the loss of the fox then they'd get found again. And the people who took them taken alongside them to get locked up in the secure ward for a while. "How certain are you that somebody might come after you? I won't share exact details as to why they're after you, but do I need to let security know? It'll be important for everybody's safety if I go by what you've told me.." They hardly need some slave owning vampire sending people their way to grab new supernaturals to brand as a possession.
Ulysses was more willing to go off of the wrist band that he was wearing rather than the word of somebody who he barely knows, the blonde likes to think that he can read people reasonably well and Ziggy seemed like a nice enough individual. But was he? There were slightly inconsistancies that didn't quite make sense in his mind and so Lyss found himself not really knowing what to think of Ziggy.. He'd save judgement for when the fox shows a few more of his colours, for now he was being given benefit of the doubt. As proven by the warm enough smile Lyss directed at him, "if it's something that they agree too then of coure, but until they do I can't promise that you'll even meet." The only ex slave that he knows of doesn't visit Manson often, not that Lyss can blame him, but also he doesn't want to get Ziggy's hopes up. He and Bram hav barely spoken about his time as a slave.. He has a feeling it's not exactly something that the hybrid wants to chat about. So who knows how he'll react to the request.
"I am," he responded with a soft frown too, "those memories will return over the next few months, but for now, yes, I count myself as lucky." Lucky he'd even been released in fact, the fae don't tend to relinquish ownership over mortals, they tend to use them until they pass on or become useless and then dispose of whatever is left. No, Lyss was definitely lucky.
Instintively his gaze flickered to Ziggy's throat at the mention of the vampires, but he didn't let it linger, instead glanced back to his face, "did their treatment of you differ?" He hesitated before adding, "abuse, Ziggy, were you abused by them?" That can affect somebody in ways that they arent even aware of sometimes and in all honesty he couldn't think that the fox wouldn't have been abused in some way, but whether or not he'd speak about it was a whole other matter.

Ziggy didn’t really think he needed to worry about being picked up, he doubted he was wanted much by anyone right now but on the slim chance someone did come sniffing around for him, he had already seen and spoken to a few people he could name as a possible trade to take his place. Perhaps not Ez, Ziggy sort of wanted to keep that weird floating vampire for his own use, but that guard woman would likely be interesting to someone or the nurse that treated him when he first arrived.
When Lyss mentioned not needing to worry Ziggy looked to him with a relieved smile which faded after he was asked how certain he was someone might look. He supposed he should have expected that question and took a moment to look to his feet and think of a reply, not that he didn’t have one but he guessed he should seem like he was making a considered a response. “Small I guess but… If nobody else suitable to replace me can be found.. I don’t know.” he said while slowly looking back up. Ziggy knew his role in things was fairly unique after all, it was something he took a slightly warped pride in knowing. “It’s been a little while now though so I am probably worrying over nothing. It just kinda feels odd to not have someone watching over me, you know? Like, they must be lurking somewhere… Nice not having it but, odd.”
Ziggy gave another understanding nods as Lyss explained the other slaves willingness to meet being important. Having a choice in something was a thing people had here. “That’s fine. Not everyone likes to remember or be faced with a reminder.” he said while absentmindedly pulling at a loose thread on his jeans. He knew he needed some knew ones, the whole ‘worn and faded’ look was only good to an extent, but when your clothes actually start falling apart or having more holes than designed and showing more skin than they covered, you need to go shopping. Ziggy sort of hoped that would be allowed here, not that he shopped as such, rather he stole whatever he could get his paws on… In his experience, security alarms were funny things, they go off for people but not always for animals who can duck under the beams or are too light on foot to trigger sensors. So far though Ziggy had no sense that anyone here was aware of that side of him, he supposed the ‘violent’ tendency was their main focus.
Ziggy didn’t know why Lyss’s foggy memories had an end date and did not really care either, he was not here to counsel the counsellor, he was barely here willingly to counsel himself. “Are you worried about it?” he asked curiously, unable to not ask at least that question, maybe Lyss had done some weird shit while away with the Fae. Ziggy couldn’t help but find some inner amusement at the idea but he hid it well thanks to his natural gifts, no raised heartbeat or twitch of face, he seemed as placid right now as he was on entering really. But it was a bit draining to do some, Ziggy knew he would need replenishing one way or another soon. Maybe get a hug off wolfy fae-boy here on leaving? Ziggy was sure he could suck out something without the guy noticing.
Ziggy say Lyss eying his neck on the mention of vampires but if he was looking for bite marks he would find none, the fox referred to his vampire captive as ‘Sire’ but she had never actually sired him, it was just a title said out of respect really.
The question as to treatment was met with silence for a few seconds but then Ziggy shifted in his seat a little and ran a hand through his hair, “I…” he started to say and then let his hand drop. “Sometimes.” In truth he had been abused but once his ability was found out life had been ok or as ok as it can be when you are held captive and not fed much, and of course he made sure that a lot of punishments he might have received were passed on to less mentally capable slaves who didn’t really know what they were agreeing to or were seen as too nuts to listen to their side of things. “As long as you did as asked you were generally treated ok but then sometimes other slaves saw that you are getting food or something and you get issues with them. Sometimes there sires were just in a bad mood too so…” he gave shrug. “Either way you need to be able to take a beating.”
“I think I was lucky.” Ziggy said then thought a moment longer before deciding to share one trait about himself that might keep the whole ‘innocent and good’ vibe going. “I can heal people. It drains me a lot but I was useful to my Sire so they couldn’t kill me off or they would have a lot more dead slaves to dispose of when the beatings went too far.”
Ziggy only ever did the bare minimum to keep someone alive, he didn’t want to actually exhaust himself by healing fully. Sure the person might be in pain a little longer but then they shouldn’t have done whatever it was to get a beating in the first place.

If Lyss knew that Ziggy was lining people up to take his place if anybody did come for him then he'd be advising to the security team to limit his interaction with other residents until the ex slave felt comfortable enough to stop basically becoming a slave trader himself. Or at least feel comfortable enough to retreat and find a member of staff if he did come across somebody that could hurt or take him away from this place. Ulysses wanted Ziggy to feel secure, if he couldn't do so here then where else could he?
Lyss frowned lightly when the red head looked to the floor and eventually began to speak, the fox's movements were slow, so he had time to wipe that frown off of his lips and look carefully neutral when Ziggy's gaze rose back up again. "How long were you a slave, Ziggy?" The question was perhaps a little quieter than he intended it to be, but for some reason he didn't really want to end up hearing the answer to this question. There were some things that were abhorrent to him and slavery was indeed one of them. Even to belong to somebody for a year was far too long of a time, it could do irreversible damage to a psyche, "it may take a while to learn to fully relax.. But believe me, you'll get there eventually."
Lyss was lucky with his experience, he couldn't remember much of it. But Ziggy would remember. Bram probably remembered a lot more than he let on too.. No, he wouldn't let this guy end up belonging to somebody again if he could help it. He wouldn't take him under his wing like he had Bram, but he'd fight to keep him free. Everybody deserves freedom. If somebody tried to take Bram though, he's quite certain a situation like that would lead him to bloodshed. Even the idea of it made the wolf inside of him stir restlessly. Now he was going to have to go and see the hybrid after work, just to reassure both halves of himself that the guy was safe. A lungful of his scent and the warmth of his skin against his would do the job nicely.
It'd give him a chance to check his ankles too, simply because he's curious now.
Lyss just made a soft sound of agreement about not liking to remember times like those. It would be one of the reasons why he'd never push too hard for an answer to a question Ziggy doesn't particularly seem willing to answer. He'd still ask the questions that come to his mind but pushing for an answer would cease. As for his own memories returning, "it's not important," he spoke with a smile, a smile that seemed natural but was a reflex for anytime he was unsure of what to say or do. He's always seemed to be patient, calm and self assured in practically any situation. Perhaps that was because of his time spent in Fae, a muscle memory, he hopes he'll never find out, "what's important is the present. Memories of the past can only hurt you if you let it."
Which was a cheesy thing to say, even to his ears, but it was true.
He can heal people? That would definitely make for him to be a valuable person to have around, particularly if he believed what Ziggy said about him healing others that were harmed by their owners.. A dead slave is a truly worthless slave. He believed Ziggy about this, he would most things in this regard simply because he couldn't understand why he'd lie about this stuff. "I'm sorry," he sounded sincere enough, "that you were in a situation like that. I can't imagine.. But, trust us and work with us and we'll help you to stay free. And a little more self reliant so you won't ever need to dig through the trash again." He gave a small smirk at that, not mocking him but definitely lightening the situation somewhat, or attempting too at least.
"Are there any questions that you might have? To ease your mind a little, I can't let you leave here thinking we have some ulterior motive."

How long? Ziggy was fairly sure he could give a figure give or take a year or two if he cared to work it out but he wasn’t sure why the length of his being held captive was all that important. A year would be too long in his mind too, he was just slightly concerned that if he admitted to anything in double digits they might start thinking he was inwardly a lot more screwed up than he is or at least should be. “I was taken as a cub so, a little over twenty years I guess. I’m not really sure how old I am.” Later twenties was his own guess and what the staff here had listed him as from what he glanced on his medical file, they didn’t seem too concerned really to have an exact number from what he saw. He supposed with his were-blood and healing gift he did not age at any normal rate, for sure he noticed after hitting puberty things seemed to start slowing down a little… He wasn’t going to complain, looking like he was twenty-five to thirty for the next few decades would just make eating easier. As for relaxing, well Ziggy didn’t really feel too stressed right now but he nodded and gave a faint smile anyway.
Ziggy was a little disappointed to hear Lyss seemed unbothered by what might be revealed in his memories, hoping to at least find out whether it had caused the counsellor a couple of restless nights, but maybe he was just hiding his true feelings well? It seemed the only way to find out was to agree to more sessions and come back in a couple of months time, at which point the fox guessed he get an answer, if the dude was even here… If not, that might say more than words could. He gave a small withering smile to the somewhat cliche phrase Lyss came out with but he felt it was justified in the context, it wasn’t (or he would say it was not) directed to the counsellor but more the idea that such a thing was so simple to say but a lot harder to do. “That easy, hu?” he said calmly, thinking he could let out a bit more bitterness without being judged, being too calm would be as suspicious as being too cocky.
Ziggy gave a shrug hearing the apology, it felt a bit empty really even if Lyss said it sincerely, but the fox gave a small smile again at the repeated urge to trust them to help. Ziggy still believed he needed nothing from this place and it was his own stupidity that got him caught, for sure he did not think he needed any help to become self reliant, he was a fox! Natures scavengers, great hunters, can live off rodents and can live off berries, this one can live off people. Ziggy knew he was never going to starve if he had true freedom. Questions though… he had a few more. “How much do I need to see you, is it like a weekly thing? And I saw the forest around here, that something I have access too? I haven’t shifted for a while, it’s kinda starting make me itch… but that’s all for now. Bit overloaded really, be nice to get back to my room if this session is finished. Honestly, you are nicer than thought you would be.” Ziggy knew he came in cocky and deep down not a lot had changed but he was still playing nice so he figured he owed the man a half sincere compliment.

Taken as a child.. So he'd spent his life in that world really, always belonging to somebody and never really experiencing true freedom. Truly, Lyss was surprised that the man seemed as together as he was, that he wanted to be free and live his life outside of everything he'd ever known. It showed strength of character and he'd be making a note of it in his own personal files, "so you literally grew up in that environment..? Do you need help with anything? Reading, writing?" Did he even attend school, did he even want to learn things like that? Was that something a slave would be taught to do regardless of their lowly position? Lyss doesn't know for sure, but if Ziggy required help with certain basic life skills then he'd try and make sure that the guy could achieve anything he wanted too.
Apart from escaping. He wouldn't help him to escape.
The withering smile was something he had expected when it came to that cheesy little line he'd spoken. Anything less would have made him think that the guy wasn't listening, but obviously he had, "honestly? No. It's never that easy," he admitted, "it's possibly one of the more difficult things to do. The past did make us who we are as people, to dismiss it entirely would be to throw away parts of our lives that constructed parts of our personality and therefore make us question a lot more than we would before. But, it's also incredibly easy to fall into a pattern of blaming the past for present decisions that we make." Lyss would, undoubtedly, struggle when he begins to remember some of the things that he was made to do when he was owned but that was for himself to deal with with the help of his family. Not for his patients to have any insight into. "But, if you decide who you want to be as a person it becomes a lot easier. I know who I want to be. Do you?"
Ulysses glanced up at the clock on the wall and then looked back at Ziggy, "we can end the session here.. I'd like to see you weekly at first, but after a while we can lessen those sessions to fortnightly if you'd prefer." He smiled faintly at the compliment and sat forward in his seat before he stood up and held his hand out to Ziggy to help him up too, "I can escort you back to your room, but if you'd prefer we can bypass the forest first? Of course, if you prove to be a flight risk there'll be repurcussions.." It wasn't a threat, he just wanted Ziggy to realise the implications of doing something stupid, "the choice is completely yours."

Ziggy a shrug but inwardly rolled his eyes again, of course he grew up in the environment, there was no midseason break from everything to meet loved ones, none of which Ziggy remembers anyway. And his gut reaction to being accused of illiteracy was to quite forcefully correct Lyss, but he managed to stay calm, it was a logical assumption to make after all, just one the fox did not exactly like being pointed out to him, mostly as he could use the help and that was not something he would willingly admit. But he wondered how long can he hide it? Out on streets it was easy enough to get by but he doubted the same would be said for Manson if they made him attend classes. “I can read ok, writing is messy I guess but legible.” Ziggy knew it if his name was on paper and having no desire to read War and Peace, he figures that is good enough. Being one of the usual slaves he was given a basic education, enough to mean he can read street signs or labels on bottles, with that and a sharp enough mind you can teach yourself a lot too.
Another point in Lyss’s favour though was admitting that forgetting the past and not letting it bother you was not as easy to do as the phrase was to say. Yes it might be hypocritical thinking form the fox but Ziggy did not like people who spout off lines like that but fail to live by them. All the rest sounded like bullshit motivational poster crap again though so Ziggy was mostly blanking it while pretending to look interested. He knew full well though that his past was influencing him now but he just did not see the problem with it. His focus came back more for the last bit, but was that a rhetorical question or did Lyss want to know? “I think so.” Ziggy replied as he frowned a little. He would say ‘not like my owners’ but honestly, apart from the beating and murdering part, he sort of did want to be like them, they were at the top of their game.
Weekly didn’t sound too bad, fortnightly was perhaps a little better so Ziggy nodded to the idea. He was going to go along with things quietly for now unless they really interfered with his life here. As for the next move, Ziggy thought a moment while reaching out to shake Lyss’s by the hand but he resisted inhaling any of the guys energy. “I think I need to rest and eat first. As long as the forest isn’t off limits, will take a look around later if that’s ok. Not up to running anywhere right now.” he said with a smile, joking of course.
