Usually Sage has no need to be in the secure facility, the little drunk Ectomancer had never been much harm to anybody other than himself and so he'd been granted a dorm room all of his own not long after being shipped to Manson.. But for this, he felt he needed to have the added security of the guards and cameras in the halls. He was currently sat in an empty classroom sipping on a small hip flask that he'd managed to sneak past all of the guards as he worked up the courage to call a number of spirits too him. Slowly and surely this kid had been exploring his ability and he was about too, in a moment, perhaps if he gets up the courage, maybe, call to him as many of the spirits within Manson too him as he possibly can.
Just so he can see if he's capable of getting them all to disperse again.
His own personal sidekick, body guard and best friend didn't seem to think it was too good of an idea.. Sage has a history of not doing too well under stress, he crumples quite easily and Adrian, the ghost who sprawled on the desk (unseen to the rest of the world) was well aware of that. So the Ectomancer had long ago silenced the spirit because he was fed up with hearing how dumb of an idea this was, he didn't need smart mouth from a dead guy.. Sage took another sip of the potent spirit in his flask and shifted his weight a little. His stomach had been acting up recently, causing him sleepless nights and making him a little tetchier than usual but he wasn't going back to the medical center for it..
The last diagnosis they'd given him had worried him and, well, since then he'd been given a poison to kill him and been brought back to life and he'd not stopped drinking at all.. The likelihood was that his liver had probably had it by now, but he was refusing to see the slight yellowing in his sclera, and he downright refused to go through withdrawal for something he was in denial about.. Sage took another little sip from his flask and sighed as he tucked his legs up beneath him. Right. Time to start.
Or, it would have been if the door didn't choose to open in that moment.

Andreas was of two minds right now. He was happy for Val and sad about her leaving all at the same time. He hadn’t believed it when someone had approached him to let him know that Valerie was leaving, hadn’t truly believed she was fine. But after talking to her himself, he couldn’t help but be happy it had all worked out for her. He could understand that she’d rather go with Cooper than go back to the pride that had turned her or be on her own. The man was trustworthy and he’d been there for her. Of course, once he learned what she wanted to do, he suggested she stick around for a couple of days and get some crash courses on how to stitch up wounds. It could come in handy. His whole reason for coming to Manson was leaving, so he figured he should probably start working on getting himself out of here too now that he had no further reason to stay. Heck, he didn’t really know what to do with his life now, wasn’t like he knew where to go next anyway, so he wasn’t in a hurry to get out tonight. Instead he was wandering around the hallways, just looking for somewhere to write the pride to let them know Valerie was whole again and off to face the world. Imagine his surprise when he opened the door and found an old friend in there instead. “You look like you’re up to no good,” he said, leaning against the doorframe. Sage didn’t look too well.

The corners of his vision were starting to blur a little bit, that's what he'd been after by sipping on his flask. Clarity was never any fun, Sage literally can't deal with reality after all of this time drowning his world and senses in alcohol. His normal was slightly intoxicated, anything else led him to feel nothing but anxiousness and awkward desperation.. Though, to be fair the withdrawal symptoms usually have him shaking so badly that somebody ends up feeling sorry for him and provides him with what he needs. Or he's pathetic enough to steal from someplace.. Having his ability is helpful in that sense, he can send Ade ahead to scout for staff.
He was hastily tucking the hip flask back into his jacket when the door was opening, but then he recognised the man that entered, so he gave up with the pocket. Which was a good thing really, because the inner pocket was actually on the other side of his jacket, something Ade was trying to tell him but he'd silenced the ghost so had heard nothing.
"Andreas, hey!" Sage sounded pretty perky, but there was a definite lethargy to his tone, but anybody would sound the same if they weren't getting much sleep. He was still quite certain that he looked pretty good, but then alcohol does wonders for anybody's confidence.
He grinned at Andreas's statement and laughed, "up to no good? Me? Nah, I'm good as gold," he practically has a halo, obviously, "... Are you up to no good? Can I join in?"

Andreas was amused by how Sage seemed to want to hide away his flask before giving up when he realized he wasn’t about to get scolded for drinking. Not that he realized how dire the situation actually was for the ectomancer. He just figured staff didn’t particularly want the drunks to stay drunk. “My friend got fixed and left,” he said, giving Sage a somewhat sad smile. “Guess I’m looking for a way to simultaneously celebrate her good fortune and lick my wounds.” He wasn’t sad for Valerie’s sake, obviously, he was just kind of wondering what he was going to do with his life now that he had made sure she was safe while she was healing. Walking a little closer, he sat down and ran a hand through his hair. “Did I ever tell you about the little lion I came here to look after?”

He hadn't realised it was Andreas coming through the door when he had tried to hide the flask. Now that he knew who it was he didn't really need to hide it at all, the other guy likes to drink as well, as far as he can remember. Both blood and alcohol. Because he's a vampire. Xan had been the first one to make him realise that there was something to their bite, he'd been quite drunk at the time and the little euphoric bite just led him to feel beyond relaxed. It was something he looked for with other vampires and he's built up a few little pinprick scars upon his body in the process. Half of which he can't remember getting but apparently he's always been willing according to Ade so he hasn't quite seen the point in being more careful.
"I uh, don't think so?" Had he told him about a lion? He can't remember. Sage glanced over to Ade and the ghost just shrugged ad flipped him the finger because he still couldn't speak, Sage just smiled a little crookedly and glanced back to Andreas, "nah, I don't think you did.. So that's why you're here? If she's gone doesn't that mean you can leave too? I mean, don't you have cool vampirey stuff to get on with outside of here?"
He leant to the side slightly to nudge Andreas with his shoulder lightly, or he supposed it was lightly, he's only human, not quite able to shove a vampire even if he tries, "you got me still, I'm a friend. A shitty one cos I forget to text and call back half the time.. But still a friend."

If there was one thing he was grateful for, it was that Valerie had gotten the help she needed in this place so she could reclaim her life. He had been adamant from the start that once she was whole, it was her decision what to do and the fact that she had chosen to go with Cooper reassured him that at least she would be safe. Even if she had a relapse of denial, she had always seemed to like the other lion and after speaking to him he was sure she would be well looked after if that happened. “She didn’t take to being turned too well, so this place has helped her piece together her mind so she can have a life of her own. I only came to make sure she was safe while she recuperated. Don’t really know what’s next for me.” Andreas had no plans for what to do next. Andreas figured he could probably leave now, especially since he was here on his own accord and didn’t really need to adjust to life among humans. He could be perfectly civil after all. Only reason he’d stayed after Val left was because he had nowhere else to go really. Nothing else to do either and this place wasn’t half bad. Sage saying he still had him made him smile slightly, because he was right. “Don’t really text or call much myself,” he said, nudging Sage back gently. “Don’t worry, I’m in no hurry to run away from here. Gotta figure out my next steps first. You look like you’ve seen better days though.” He didn’t look too well really.

He'd come to Manson for somebody in particular and now that person had left? That was a bit sad, Sage frowned a little and for the moment didn't really know what to say.. He'd ask why he didn't go with her but that was a bit too personal. He probably knew that he could have followed her so there had to be some kind of reason why he hadn't done so. They weren't really close enough for him to poke his nose into that. He frown softoned a little at the thought that Manson had helped her piece her mind back together, that was nice, he hadn't put into practice anything that they've attempted to teach or tell him. Half of the time he's been drunk though. Or hungover.
"I guess.. Whatever you want?" He suggested with a small quirk of his lips. Sage offered out the small flask of alcohol to the vampire, "I mean, if you haven't got anything planned to do then just do what you feel like doing? Unless you fancy going on a massacre or something.. That might be a bit bad." With the fangs and the strength.. It'd be bloody if any vampire went on a massacre. Scary stuff. He has Ade's neck to look at every day to remind him of the damage they can do with those teeth.
Sage was pleased to see that slight smile and he chuckled slightly when he was nudged back. Sage is more of an absent friend than a high maintenance kind of guy, he's always there if people need him but he won't reach out and touch base with people often. It's not that other people's personal lives don't interest him, it just isn't that important for him to know all of the gossip. Anything big that goes on around here he tends to hear about anyway, dead people talk a lot.
His own smile faded a little though and he shrugged a shoulder loosely, "yeah, I uh.. Doc's are worried, but I'm fine. You know what those people are like, everything's always dramatic and stuff. I'm fine, really."

If Val had decided to go back to her old life or the pride, Andreas figured he would’ve gone with her to keep an eye on her, but since she was going to be working with wild lions he figured it was best to stay away. Not just because of the animals and lack of food for himself, but because he imagined it would be quite sunny at times. All this time watching over the little lioness had made him realize that he needed to find his own thing now that she was well. After all, she’d only been his responsibility because of his sire and now that the damage was fixed it seemed best to move on. She knew how to reach him if she got into trouble and he didn’t want to crowd her. Andreas accepted the flask and had a small sip before handing it back. “Guess I better figure out what I want then,” he said, chuckling slightly. “But don’t worry, it won’t include a massacre,” he said, nudging Sage gently again before he leaned back. Come to think of it, this was probably the first time in a really long time that the choice was entirely his own and that was a strange feeling. He figured Manson probably had more to offer than the therapy sessions he’d been forced to attend so maybe it was time to explore that. Seemed a shame to leave this place without properly exploring it after all. They might not have talked a lot, but Andreas did appreciate spending time with the kid when their paths crossed. Maybe it was the age difference or maybe it was simply Sage’s gift, but he always seemed to offer a new perspective on things and Andreas appreciated it. “I don’t mean to pry, but you are starting to look a little yellow,” he pointed out. “Are they worried you drink too much? Or did something happen?” Andreas wasn’t asking to judge, he was asking out of concern. He knew the kid enjoyed drinking and that he didn’t mind being fed on, but he was worried. He didn’t want to lose another friend, least of all permanently. Outside of Manson, things were different, but he didn’t really have all that many friends here to begin with, losing another one would be hard.

He slipped the flask away a little more smoothly this time, he'd save the rest for later when he probably won't be able to find some more.. That was a somewhat depressive thought, he'd been cut off in the student bar and there was no way that he was allowed out of Manson without an escort any longer. Not that he particularly has the energy to do so anyway but he's definitely attributing that to the fact that he's either hungover or unable to walk in an entirely straight line. Nothing to do with any illness in the slightest, denial is a beautiful thing.
"There's lots of things to do," he added with what he hoped was a reassuring smile, "the world's literally your oyster, maybe you could get yourself a boat or something, with a darkened under belly bit?" Sage doesn't know the proper words for boat bits, so Andreas would get no type of nautical conversation from the little ectomancer, but he knows that there's a downstairs to a lot of boats, "or.. I dunno, the world's so big so you could do literally whatever you want to do. Do you have any vampire friends around the world? Could stay with them whilst travelling or something, I don't know.." Sage doesn't really know what he'd do if he was allowed to go anywhere or be able to do anything in the world so he doesn't envy Andreas's options..
He was trying to help and all he was really doing was rambling away, it's usually what he's best at. At least it means he won't be calling upon dozens of spirits to come to him and most likely overwhelm him. So, one stupid thing was being averted right now at least.
Sage's smile faded at the comments and he averted his gaze to hide the slight yellowing in the white's of his eyes, instead he looked to the floor with a soft frown. Though he rubbed at the back of his neck awkwardly, "they say that yeah, but, I'm fine.. Ain't gonna be joining the realms of the dead anytime soon or nothing so they're all kicking up a fuss 'bout nothing." He's quite deeply in denial, but the he doesn't much like change and to stop the progression of this illness then he was going to have to change so many aspects of his life. He's scared. That's what it comes down too. "I'm still drinkable, nobody's complained so far.. That I know of.."

Kid wasn’t wrong. He could do whatever the hell he wanted really, even get himself a boat now that the new ones were able to be equipped with a fridge as well as a dark place to sleep during the day. So really, even without living crew onboard, he wouldn’t be in danger of drowning and so it was definitely something to think about. So he smiled at the suggestion. “I think I’m going to take a little time to figure things out before going anywhere,” he said, feeling like that was probably the best thing he could do. “Suppose I could always track down my sister, if she’s still alive.” He honestly didn’t know what was up with Tessa anymore, or his sire for that matter. He was finally free after their disagreement over Val, so while he still loved the man, at least he couldn’t order him about anymore. Andreas listened to Sage speak and was watching how he carried himself. Clearly, it wasn’t something he was willing or ready to face just yet and he could respect that. “You do what you gotta do,” he said simply. “And if it gets too bad, well, not like it’s as simple as you change your ways or you have to die. Always options in this world.” Nudging him gently, Andreas smiled slightly at him. “I promised myself I wouldn’t turn anyone unless it was to save their life, so if it gets too bad, come find me, yeah? Don’t need a liver to be a vampire,” he said. He wasn’t going to force the choice on the kid, he figured he could at least offer and let him think about it. He’d hate to see the kid die when he could do something to prevent that because he really was a good kid. “If you do decide you want to go down that route, spend time outside. Enjoy the sunlight beforehand.” Andreas had a feeling that even were-healing probably wouldn’t help Sage out here, otherwise he would’ve suggested that instead, but he wanted to see him happy and alive, even if that meant undead kind of life. That said, no, it wasn’t his choice to make. It was Sage’s.

"That sounds pretty good too, relax a little bit whilst everything is free and stuff." Manson is pretty good for that, a nice resting place for supernatural's who need someplace to stay without worrying about coming across some silly oblivious humans. It was nice to have a place to be that didn't judge you for the things you could do. Sage had never felt as relaxed as he had done since being within Manson, it was his saving grace really.. And they hadn't labelled him as a murderer or called him crazy because they believed him when he told them what had happened. It also helped that the people that he had 'killed' had obviously been mauled by a wolf and he was no werewolf or even a shifter.
Sage blinked at him after he was nudged, there were options? And then the guy offered him another option and he didn't quite know what else to say right then and there. His gaze flickered over to Ade and his light smile faded a little at the look on the spirit's face. The redhead had a blank expression on his face and he was no longer looking at Sage but was looking at the floor with his hand touching the ever present wound that had killed him upon his throat.. It was an option, to be turned, he wouldn't need a liver to be a vampire at all, but then there were consequences of that weren't there? It was definitely something that he'd have to think about because at this rate he was going to die. Dying didn't sound particularly good to him, especially since he'd most likely become a poltergeist.
"I spend a lot of time outside anyway.. Got all the vitamin sunshine I need." Whatever that vitamin was, was it D, B? He can never remember. "But thanks for the option, I'll keep it in mind.. Don't think I'm going to be getting a transplant and it's not so easy a fix.. I mean, if you're after a little blood then you can have a bite now if you like stiill. But.. I'll have to think 'bout the whole becoming a creature of the night thing."
But, it was a choice he could take. An option.. He'll ask another vampire about it too, not ask them to turn him, but for advice on what it's like. He knows a few of them by this point. Sage flashed him an easy grin though and pulled his flask out again. Fuck it, he'd have another swig because why the hell now? "It's nice to know I don't have to die slowly though.. Because that'd suck."

Using this place to just rest up a little didn’t sound like a bad idea at all. He could be himself, be what he was, and still not go hungry. Besides, it did seem only reasonable to stay somewhere Valerie would know how to reach him until he was sure she was properly settled into her new situation. He trusted that Cooper would take good care of her though, so he wasn’t worried that she’d get lost or hurt as long as she stuck with him. “We can all use a little rest once in a while,” he agreed. Andreas didn’t expect Sage to give a proper answer right then and there. The kid had a choice in the matter after all, it seemed only fair to let him think it over a little before deciding. “Take your time,” he said, smiling slightly at Sage. “Most vampires I’ve met didn’t have a say in whether they got turned or not, think it over, talk to others. It’s not something you can reverse, so it’s only fair you get to think it through.” Andreas didn’t want to force this on him, nor did he want him to regret it afterward, so letting him take some time was probably for the best. “I didn’t come here for a bite, just a friend,” he added more as an afterthought. He liked talking to the kid too, didn’t just want to be seen as using him for getting drunk himself. “It’s a different kind of death. One where you can still experience life, but you lose some things along the way. Like sunlight and regular food. But it is what you make it. Something to think about at least.” He didn’t want to sugarcoat it as being only good, but he also wanted Sage to consider his options. “Wanna get out of this dreary room?” he asked. It didn’t matter if Sage was weak or drunk or whatever, he could help him stay upright if he needed it.

A rest would be nice. Despite not really doing anything at all most days Sage can't really remember the last time he felt really at peace. Had he ever felt at peace? Not since his twin had died and even before then there'd been a lot of times they had both spent their days and nights not knowing what was happening. It was only the times that they got away together to spend time playing that they ever really had the chance to be worry free. But even those times always came to a quick end. Their mother had always warned them that if they venture out too far for too long then they'll get taken away from her. Perhaps that would have been for the best, he and Heather may have been separated but at least she'd be alive.
"I'm not ready to die," he said a little quietly. He was tired, yes, but that doesn't mean he wants to give up on life. There was a lot out there, like he'd said to Andreas, and at one point he would like to experience all of the world's wonders for himself, "but, I might be okay yet? I have more tests next week so we'll see." He forced a smile, "not like I'm about to drop down dead anyway so there's nothing to worry about.. Don't worry about me." Sage was aware that Andreas had just been wandering around, he hadn't come here for him in particular, but it never hurt to offer a bite. The drunk quite liked the little kick he got from it himself, but no worries.
A different kind of death? Well that didn't sound particularly appealing in the slightest.. Not having to eat and missing sunlight didn't seem like too bad a thing either. He hardly ate as it was now and if he did end up in the sun it was because he'd fallen asleep outside someplace. He's not exactly the sunbathing type. The ectomancer brightened up a little when Andreas suggested getting out of here and he made sure that his flask was securely hidden away before he nodded his head and went to stand up, only to fall back onto his ass in the next second. He spluttered out a little laugh and stood again, staying upright this time, "yeah. Got anywhere in particular you fancy going? I'm free for anywhere, no plans."

Andreas nodded at Sage’s quiet words. He could relate to that. It was how he’d felt before Quinn had found him, he hadn’t been ready to die, not really. But he hadn’t exactly wanted this life either. It had taken some time to get used to it all, but now he didn’t mind so much. It was why he wanted Sage to think about it all rather than just jump into something. “I’ll try not to worry too much,” he reassured the ectomancer. It seemed like the best to just make the offer, let him be himself and accept whatever outcome. “Fingers crossed you’ll be just fine and they’re all just overreacting.” And he genuinely meant that. He was standing up and ready to help Sage stand upright if he needed it, but it seemed like he had it sorted out the second time around. “How about some fresh air?” he suggested. He wouldn’t mind spending a little time outside after all. “I might leave you for a little while once we get somewhere though, to get you a refill for later,” he said, wanting to be the one giving Sage something for a change. It didn’t much matter to him if Sage ought to quit drinking. If he didn’t want to, that was his decision. Simple as that.

Sage was hoping that he too would magically get better.. But he had a feeling that he wasn't going too. The carnomancers hadn't been able to fix his liver, apparently regenerating healthy tissue lost to scarring was beyond even them. It wasn't looking good for him. But he had his denial and the fact that he wasn't about to keel over in the next week or two. So at least that was something. Not much but it was something.. "I hope so too," he saaid with another smile, forced, perhaps, but it was there nonetheless. Sage wasn't particularly afraid of death, it was difficult to be when you know it's not the end, but that doesn't mean he wants to die.. Not like, really be dead anyway. He wants to keep his body, it's not the strongest or the best looking but it's his and he wants to keep it.
Fresh air sounded good. And with somebody with him who could actually help him along without him having to expend any energy to make him solid was pretty brilliant. The ectomancer loves his little spirit friend, but.. Living friends are good too. Or undead, in Andreas's case. He glanced over to Ade and made him audible to only himself again, to which the Fae just tutted to show his displeasure and rolled his eyes before looking away from Sage. He'd forgive him.. He'd make him solid when they reach the grounds, let him go do strange Fae things in the forest, whatever it is he does. Maybe just sit beneath the trees. The guy was a tree related fae of some kind.
Did he just hear that right? Sage grinned up at Andreas, "that'd be absolutely awesome. On both accounts. I don't mind sitting around and waiting for a little bit, that's for sure." Isn't like he'd be alone anyway. "The guy'll kill you either way," came a snarky, bitter and somewhat out of character comment from the redheaded fae's spirit, Sage momentarily glared over in his direction and frowned but didn't respond. It'd be weird. But.. He can't exactly blame Ade for being a little pissy, after all he was kind of mauled to death by a vampire. Sage is quite sure they're not his favourite species.
But then if the ghost would rather he died then he'd have to pipe up and say so or come up with an alternative answer. Because he was running out of time..
Anyway, he'd follow Andreas at his side to the grounds and most likely sit down on the comfiest place he can find. It'd be perfect.
