After the rain had passed and he went back inside, Fabian planned to take a warm shower. He was soaked through and although there was little chance he would catch a cold from it due to his enhanced immunity and simple fact he could use his gift to draw out and evaporate the water held his clothing, he couldn’t up his own body temperature so a warming shower just seemed like a sensible and pleasant idea.
As he was aiming for the bench again with a ball of churning liquid, Fabian was totally unaware of his husband approaching, the rain was doing a good job at covering his scent and the guard found the man to be pretty sneaky in general at this kind of thing. Luckily for Fabian (and probably Zevren), you don’t stay in this kind of job for thirteen years and become Head of Security if all your training falls apart in a little bad weather. So although Zev got near enough to lay hands on him, instinct kicked in at that moment and Fabian turned to try and kick a leg out from under him but with one hand grab the man before he totally could hit the floor if he was to go down, the other hand blasting the altered ball of water away from the bench and just behind Zev’s head, knocking over and shattering a large plant pot.
“Zev!” Fabian had realised who it was as he turned but couldn’t stop himself from reacting completely so instead aimed behind the wolf rather than at his face. “Sorry.” he added after just feeling a need to even if he had managed to avoid blasting the guy in the face. “You’re getting wet.” There was some concern to Fabian’s voice even if he knew Zev had the same if not better resistance to colds being that he was a full werewolf. Reaching out Fabian started to bend the rain around the man as well as run his hands over his body to try and draw some of it out from his clothes.
“Have you seen a black fox cub around?” he asked next. Fabian was starting to wonder if he had done something wrong, he just had no idea what the hell it could be. As Head of Security, Fabian knew he had to seem intimidating to some but to others he needed to seem approachable, not like he would eat you at least.

Well, that had turned out quite how he'd expected. Zev wasn't exactly a small man, so when his leg was promptly kicked out from beneath him he lost balance and went tumbling to the floor to be stopped from colliding with the the ground by a hand grabbing at him. And then a pot exploded behind him. Zev's eyes momentarily widened in surprise, he obviously knew that Fabian was good at his job so he wasn't really surprised at how this had turned out. But, anybody would be sort of shocked at being thrown to the floor regardless of the situation. The shock never lasted long and he ended up laughing moments later as he used Fabian's hand to pull himself back to his feet, the rain stopped hitting him moments later, "hey, I look good wet," he protested somewhat cockily, however he still let the other man's hands run over him, the pull of water from his clothes was a strange feeling as usual, but no less impressive.
It was why he lightly nudged Fabian on the chin to get him to raise his face slightly so he could steal a kiss. So he couldn't exactly get as handsy as he wanted too with him, which was difficult in itself as both he and the wolf were more than delighted to see him half naked and playing in the rain. There were boundaries.. As annoying as they are. "Amazing," both the man and his ability. And the way he smelt, and tasted, looked, a lot of things but he wasn't going to go into detail. He couldn't, he was asked about a fox cub and he blinked once in confusion before glancing at the bush where he vaguely remembered seeing those golden eyes peering out.
"That one?" He asked, nodding over to the bush itself, he couldn't see the fox itself but he was pretty certain that's where it was.. It was where a vague scent seemed to be coming from anyway. It was subtle, more a wet scent of mud than of a fox itself but there was no reason for the scent of freshly disturbed dirt to be coming from a bush. Or for a bush to have eyes.
He knows not everybody see's the guard in the same light as he does, some are intimidated by him.. Zev can't see it himself, but then it's difficult too when love pretty much blinds him.

Ranger was hiding in the bushes in more was game. He was playing and being a fox he was master with tricks. He wasn’t being naughty or anything along those lines. He was very playful and he was trying to invite the other man to join along. The watching him using some strange power against the bench was really fun, and even though he got spooked by his howl, he didn’t mean to upset him. He heard that they were looking out for him and the other male spotted him in the bushes. Ranger sense his hiding space was found, and the rules of the game he was caught.
Slowly he came out and walked towards them. He playfully and friendly rubbed his black fur against the Fabian’s leg and then went to Zev to do the same. He was trying to hide the fact they were wolves and he was scared of them, due to the whole of nature of foxes and wolves do not get along. He sat down, curling his black tail with a white tip, against his feet and watched them. He barked at them as he was trying to say hello. His handsome piecing golden eyes watched them, as he was in the mood for play, and he wanted to see the bench rock again. He was really fascinated by the guard strange power and he wanted to watch it again.

The last thing Fabian would ever want was to see Zevren hurt. If he accidentally harmed him himself then that would be even worse, so Fabian was glad to have good reflexes and the only thing he seemed to have caused to his husband was a bit of mild shock. Zev seemed to take it all well and Fabian might have jokingly questioned what outcome was expected after he went all sneaking up on a guard with hydro-sells in a downpour. But Zev hadn’t questioned why he was thrown down and besides, Fabian was at the moment more distracted by getting the rain off the wolf-man rather than soaking him more, only stopping a moment when Zev pointed out that he looked good wet. “I can make you wet again if you want?” he asked, it was just a matter of letting the rain fall on him again. Possibly in a strategic kind of way that did not soak him but just showed off what was hidden under the shirt.
At the nudge to his chin Fabian looked up and smiled as he was kissed, having little issue leaning into is despite being out in the open. “It’s raining.” he said simply while grinning against Zev’s lips, it was a statement of the obvious but Fabian just wanted to make clear why he was out here like this and point out in some way how happy it made him. Sure he wouldn’t want this weather all the time but after the previous heat it was a blessing really. If the ‘amazing’ remark was in response to that or just the whole picture, Fabian didn’t know and didn’t think it important to ask, he just took the compliment with a smile and gave Zev another kiss. It was the better response then what his inner wolf was saying to do right now.
Looking around Fabian focused on the bush Zev pointed out, were there eyes looking out from there? “Yeah.” he said and then looked back to his husband. “I think he is hungry, or scared, or excited, or sleepy… One of those.” Fabian said with a shrug, he wasn’t sure which, could be all or none for all he could work out.
Seeing the fox approach Fabian took a small step closer to Zev as the cub started rubbing up his leg, because well, that was just plain weird, wasn’t it? Fabian wasn’t used to this kind of thing, actually half expected the kid to pee on him like some others had done but thankfully rubbing was all that happened and was done to Zev too. But then the barking was back and Fabian would have guessed the kid was excited again but last time he ran off so he just looked to Zevren to work out what the hell the kid actually wanted.

He was still obviously amused as he glanced down at his now dried top, a few strands of hair still stuck wetly to his forehead but he wasn't too bothered about that. The rain didn't bother him much anyway really, he just prefers the sun shining in the sky. At least then it gives him an excuse to walk around without a top on, something that Fabian managed to do in the wet, which made him think that perhaps he should probably have ditched his shirt before he'd left the therapy building. It was a little too late now. Plus he had a hydromancer on hand to help him dry out, he'll just hope Fabian doesn't get called away on an emergency before he's had those hands run over the rest of him. To dry him off, obviously, "I wouldn't want to undo your hard work, but both the water and me are yours to play with, do what makes you happiest, love."
Zev knew just how happy the rain made his husband, he knew and yet feeling his smile against his own mouth and seeing that simple pleasure in his eyes made him happy in return. Who doesn't like seeing the one they love enjoying life? It was one of the reasons why he'd happily risk the slight possibility of catching a cold if it meant he could see the guard having fun. And of course he wasn't going to deny any further kisses, he'd take every one that he can if it means getting to taste the man on his lips for a few minutes longer.
He was smiling now, just a pleased expression that faded somewhat only when Fabian voiced that the kid might be scared or hungry, if he was then that was worth worrying about a little. It was pretty much his job to make sure to see to the welfare of the residents within Manson, he wasn't a nurse of a doctor, nor a cook (for anybody but Fabian and himself anyway) but to make sure basic needs were met, that they were happy was important. So, as the fox approached he just watched him for any injuries, issues with his fur, or malnutrition, but he seemed healthy enough. Bright eyes, conditioned coat, his bark was certainly loud and clear enough too. Zev crouched down after Ranger had sat down, he wasn't bothered about being rubbed against but he had noticed Fabian stepping away, hopefully the light touch to his back he'd given him had helped at least a little.
"Hey there little guy.. You speak?" Was he a shifter? Black foxes weren't widely seen in England and wild animals don't usually pass the pack's territory to wander this close to the actual academy. He had to be a shifter of some variety, so there was no reason they couldn't communicate.. He'd have to wait and see.

notes here. @tagged words: #### | The little black cub watched the adults he knew with them around he was safe from whatever could come after him. He was waiting for his mother to pick him up, as she never left him for long periods when she went hunting. His ear was still irritating him due to the dirt in his ear, and it was really bugging him and he was scratching at it and shook his head four times, to try and get the dirt out of his ear. While he sat down he saw one of the adults crouching at his level and he barked twice at him.
He slowly walked towards him and kept his body close to the down, showing submissive behaviour towards him as he didn’t want to be in trouble. He understood his words and he believed he was another canine type as the cub only seen shifters which were canines only. So he looked at the male and barked first and started to get come words out himself.
“Hello, friends?” He asked as he looked at them both. He went back to the flowerbeds and got up two grubs and back to them, he gently place the grubs on the floor as he was offering them food which was a thing his family did to develop friendships with other creatures. “Me new” he said as he started to scratch at his ear again, and shook his head again.
He looked at Fabian, wagging his tail to the side “make the bench move. Do it again, please?” He asked poilety as he loved watching him, even though he was like a drowned rat and ranger hated being wet full stop.

If Fabian was to do what made him happiest in this moment then he would take his husband by the hand, lead him into a remote part of the pack grounds, dry the area a little and then throw him down again so he could have his way with the man. A fun but probably unwise activity given the time constraint he was on himself and possibly Zevren was too, lunch only lasted so long after all. That and there were cameras out in the forest, not as many as around the academy but since the fires and lake drying up, surveillance in the grounds was higher than before. Fabian could point out the dead areas though… which made his mind wonder back to Zev and his hand but he pushed the thought away. “Will dry you then.” He replied, being wet in the rain might not be bothersome but being wet in the dry is.
As soon as he got in Fabian planned on drying off and warming up, he didn’t have a lot going on later to rush in for so and long as he was back in the Secure Facility, he was technically working, there if needed to answer questions or run off to assist with the latest demon throwing a strop like a toddler. That was of course assuming nothing was needed of him out here.
Fabian wasn’t worried about the fox, he didn’t understand what the hell the kid was after or wanting with how he was running around, one minute eating and yapping then the next hiding, but as long as he wasn’t snarling and biting people, Fabian was content to leave him to it. The fox wasn’t a shifter Fabian recognised so he assumed the boy was newly arrived, maybe needing a pep-talk or proper intro to the place? The admin staff and dorm people usual saw to that, as far as Fabian knew, he just dealt with the problem ones himself.
It was partly why he stepped away as the kid rubbed his leg. As a human he thought it was strange, as a wolf he felt it was a bit too affectionate for someone you have just met.
Watching as Zevren bent down to talk to the fox kid, Fabian then looked up and away back to the main building while wondering if he needed to stay out here. It seemed better to leave him with Zevren who had a certificate for this kind of thing.
Fabian wasn’t surprised the fox could speak as such though he did look it a little when words came out since the kid was just yapping previously. Friends though? It seemed way too early for that and he couldn’t be older than maybe ten in human years, and staff/resident boundaries aside, that was plain creepy.
Only when the fox mentioned the bench did Fabian look back, to Zev and then to the bench again. Well, ok… Pulling at the rain he bent some into a ball shape, pulled it out the air and then blasted it at the bench, not knocking it over this time (he didn’t want to damage it) but instead pushing it a meter back against a tree.

Zev could only hope that this good mood lasted into the evening, no emergency's or residents behaving badly for the rest of the day so they could just go home, possibly enjoy the last of the rainfall and do exactly what Fabian had in mind. The only reason they probably couldn't get away with doing something like that right now was the little dark furred fox sat on the grass in front of them. Unlike his husband though he wasn't put off by the rubbing up against his leg, however, he did think that it was a little careless of the kid considering he didn't even know either of them, it wasn't smart to go approaching strangers if you didn't at least recognise them. But he couldn't tell the kid that, he might turn tail and run off into the forest..
Zev likes to think he knows most of the patients in Manson. He hasn't heard of a fox cub though. There was another fox shifter, but he was older, not black and never mentioned a kid brother. Or a kid. Or any relatives really.
Grubs.. He was eating grubs? That's why he smelt like dirt. Zev didn't reach out to touch the things, even his wolf didn't want to touch the grubs. It certainly didn't register to him as food and it kind of grossed him out a little that Ranger was eating this when there was decent food within Manson itself. The vegetables could sometimes be over cooked but the meat was usually spot on. Nice burgers. Much better than grubs. However, he glanced up at Fabian questioningly, wondering if he knew who this kid was at all but he spoke to Ranger, "thank you, but we've eaten. So you go ahead.."
He couldn't help but grin when he asked Fabian to make the bench move again and he stood back up to his feet and gave the guard a reassuring smile. He always enjoyed seeing him using his abilities too so he wasn't going to come up with an escape excuse for him. The ball flew through the air and hit the bench which made this werewolf chuckle quietly, he was glad one of those hadn't smashed into his head, it could have possibly knocked him senseless. Still, he wouldn't stop trying to get the jump on the other wolf anytime soon.
"What're you doing out here in the rain?" He asked the kid next, "why don't you come inside and dry off a little? Maybe get something a little more filling than those grubs.. I know where you can find some decent sausages."

Ranger found it strange when another canine refused to eat the grubs, but he didn’t let them go to waste and ate them up quickly. He was eating like a pig thanks to the water man (as Ranger call him). He got exticted when the man started to do it again, so he went next to the other man and sat by his feet as he barked really happy to see it.
He heard the man spoke to him again “I am waiting for my mother. She come and get me soon. I have a place to sleep until she comes back. I am wet as I was watching him move the chair, he did scare me first with the how” he admitted and saw they weren’t hurt him.
“You wouldn’t eat me right?” He asked as he knew foxes and wolves don’t usually get along. “My mama told me that wolves eat foxes like me.” he wasn’t sure about going inside he had never been in the building like that. “I should stay here and wait for my mama” he didn’t want to disobey his mother, even though she would never come back to get him.

Fabian hadn’t realised Ranger was offering the grubs for them to eat but as soon as Zevren declined them saying they had already eaten, he was quick to nod in agreement. Bugs were really not an appetising looking meal and he didn’t want to have to eat something that was wet and had been crawling around in the mud out of ‘politeness’ or whatever else ridiculous notion people seemed to stick to. How Ranger could eat bugs without throwing up he had no idea, just seeing him eat the things made Fabian feel a tiny bit ill.
The bench was a good distraction and the kid seemed excited by seeing it forced back again, he wasn’t running off either so Fabian assumed he hadn’t scared him this time, maybe not the last time either?
Leaving Zevren to chat to the fox, Fabian walked off to pull the bench back to where it was supposed to be. Sure, it was fun to knock things around but he was always going to set it right again, the smashed plant pot he couldn’t do much about other than maybe replace it at some point, but he can drag a bench back into position.
It was also a good excuse to step away from the conversation… Fabian knew he didn’t have a great track record with the younger residents. They all seemed either scared of him or wanted take chunks out of him, admittedly seeing Ranger, Fabian automatically assumed the kid would be another Kiba or Wyatt. Two individuals he thankfully hadn’t dealt with for a while.

Zevren wasn't exactly very happy about the kid eating grubs either, it was a little bit disgusting really. He couldn't think of anything other than how they'd feel wriggling in his mouth before he chomped down. No, he prefers his food dead. Hunting isn't the same as eating grubs, the wolf isn't a monster, they always make sure the prey's heart has stopped beating before they actually start to feed. However, he said nothing about it, didn't even show his slight revulsion as the tiny fox cub gobbled them up. The kid needed something a little more filling other than bugs.
Zev thought to himself as he watched his husband throwing water around again, surely there would have been an alert on the cameras or something if there were not one but two unknown foxes in the area, it wasn't like the grouds weren't monitored. So where had this kid come from.. And better yet, where was his mum?
His appreciative gaze watched as Fabian walked away from them to go and right the bench, even after all these years he still watches the guard like a lovesick puppy when he's not being watched himself.. He had to look away to glance down at Ranger again and he smiled reassuringly at the kid, "no wolf that I know would eat a fox like you. We prefer bigger game animals. Like deer, pheasants.. Even a rabbit would be preferable." And there are no wild wolves in britain for a fox to worry about either so he's a little surprised that's a lesson that Ranger was even taught.
"If you want to stay here for a little while longer then that's fine.. When it starts to get dark though we'll offer you somewhere warmer to sit and wait though. How long has your mum been gone?" And if the kid refused, he'd stick an umbrella out with some kind of blanket around him to keep him dry. Pop out a few burgers too. It'd be better than just leaving him out here to get cold and hungry anyway.

The little fox jumped and barked as he saw the guy moving the bench back. He was so excited by nad would love to watch this all day. He never seen magic before, and he didn’t think it existed either. He howled in his fox tone towards the sky, as he was so happy, this place didn’t seem too bad after all. But he didn’t want to go inside, he was happy sleeping outside it was more natural for him.
His golden eyes looked at the male as he asked about his mother. Ranger didn’t know, he lost count. “I don’t know. It has been a long time since she left me here. I been waiting for two moons now.” He said to him, two moons equals two weeks. He didn’t know the guy would be able to understand him. “Are you two pack members?” He asked him as he could tell they had a strong bond.
Ranger had a lot of energy and he could rest, since he slept for a while. “Can we play?” he asked the guy, as he got ready to run and hide, if they engaged in a play with him, even though he was still wet and was shivering a little as he was getting cold.

After putting the bench back Fabian walked slowly back towards Ranger and Zevren. The rain was passing over and with it the guard’s desire to stay out in the grounds much longer. If it had just been his husband out here then he would have likely stuck around for as long as the other wolf could be outside with him, but with the fox cub out too, Fabian would rather make excuses and get back to his job. It was nothing he had against the kid as such, he just didn’t want to be engaged in some kind of babysitting job that was best left to the lower ranked guards or the staff like Zev, who are better trained to be dealign with kids, particularly kids who have clearly been abandoned by a parent or pack.
Fabian managed to hear the last bit of conversation but said nothing and just glanced to Zevren. If it had been himself answering then he would have told Ranger that his mother was not coming to get him if he was here and had been a while, and that it would be best to come inside, in his experience, giving false hope just led to problems with the younger shifters housed. But Fabian left it to Zev to deal with the situation, being a counsellor and all.
Likewise he said nothing to the play idea… his own playing was over now the rain was passing. Besides, if Ranger had been left here then he needed officially signing in. The fact he was not was getting the guard and rules follower in Fabian a little anxious and irate and he gave Zevren a small elbow before looking to the main building.

How old was this boy? Zevren found his concern growing over the young shifter as time passed and like Fabian he was wondering whether his mother was actually coming back for him at all. It seemed a strange place to drop a child off, especially considering any adult would notice and realise that this was private property, the walls around the perimeter, the security, the residents, it was clear that this place wasn't a normal piece of land belonging to a human.. This was starting to look like he'd simply been abandoned. Either that or the kid's mum had got into some kind of trouble. Possibly the worst. And he'd been out here eating grubs and sleeping beneath bushes for all this time. Really he was lucky he hadn't become food for one of the bigger, nastier shifter's out there. Despite Fabian's best efforts accidents still happened around Manson. It was only to be expected considering some of the individual's housed here.
There was no way he could just stay on the grounds for the foreseeable future. A child just can't look after themselves, not forever.
He glanced back up at Fabian, running a hand through his hair because this was delicate, the kid clearly didn't want to come inside and he didn't want to trick him. But for his ow safety they may have too. Children and reasoning don't always go hand in hand, he'd learnt that recently with Kiba. But he'd try his best to reason with him first, "he's my mate," and he was forever proud of that statement. If the kid spends most time in animal form eating grubs then he'd understand that term better than 'husband' and Zev wasn't really in the mood to explain in detail when there were more pressing matters at hand, "and the pack you've probably smelt out in the forest is ours.. All sorts of shifter's are a part of it. We haven't had a fox join us yet though."
Zev placed his hand on the back of Fabian's arm and squeezed gently, reassuringly and although no words had been spoken he knew what the other guy was trying to say. This kid needed to be taken in. If the mum came back then she'd find him.
"It's getting a little cold out here, why won't we head inside? Fabian here is in charge of the security of this place. As soon as the cameras pick up on your mum he'll let me know and I'll bring you straight out to meet her, in the meantime we should get you dry, somewhere warm and something hot to fill that belly.. Then I'll show you the playground." The youth of Manson seem to like it there, seemed a good plan.

Ranger watched the adults more. He didn’t mind the chat and hanging out with them, since they were really cool. He didn’t understand how to males could be mates though. He always saw a male and female as mates with every pack he saw. He didn’t want to upset them so remained quiet for now. He was shivering slightly more as the wet, damp fur was picking up the breeze more and it drove his skin to react. He dreaded coming out in the rain now, as he was soaked through. He tilted his head about this guy pack. It sounds really cool, with having different creatures in it and he let out a playful bark at him, while he jumped a little. He wasn’t his usual hyper self due to the cold, as his body was ice cold. “Why no foxes? Don’t like us?” he asked curiously, since many feel his kind were vermin and tricksters.
Ranger didn’t want to disobey or sound ungrateful but he shook his head. “My mama told me to stay here. Thank you for your kind gesture though, but I can’t accept it” he went to one of the bushes where he was hiding, and began to curl into a tight ball trying his best to keep his body warm. Ranger fought with the sleep right now, as he shivered lot more while his ears kept on radar to listen to his mother. He didn’t know that she was never coming back, and him waiting here for her to return back to him was going to be in vain.
(sorry for the wait)
