After what like an eternity of hot, humid or muggy weather, rain was coming and Fabian was determined to make the most of it. He had shifted his break around a little to coincide with when the rain was meant to be at its heaviest, giving himself enough time to finish any patrols he might have that could overlap, time to eat, leaving what would hopefully be a satisfactory amount of minutes to enjoy standing out in the storm and getting soaked. Practice too… There was really no better weather for a hydromancer to be in than a downpour should they want to enhance the gift.
While Fabian was fairly expert at the general control over his ability there were aspects he wanted to make better, one new trait he had discovered recently too that he wanted to play with but that would require another person and he couldn’t think anyone would want to be out in the weather. And he felt he could not really ask those who might be willing to be target practice for him so he decided to instead, if he wanted to play with that aspect, to use a tree or something. A rock, something that wouldn’t break if he made a mistake.
As the rain started falling, Fabian was finishing off a rather large steak (thinking he would need the fuel) and glanced out the window of the staff Secure Facility break room. Instead of rushing out he calmly ate what was left, took his tray to a trolly for the cleaners and walked out, taking the corridor towards the locker room so he could change. Since he was on break he had already discarded his work gear (cuffs, taser, etc) into safe lockup so it was really only his jacket and belt he was hanging up now before heading outside.
Fabian for a moment contemplate leaving shirt behind but he didn’t really need to, it wouldn’t restrict his movement much, and sure it would get wet but all of him was going to get rained on so what did it matter? Besides, he knows he can always discard it on the laws if it did prove to get in the way.
By now the rain was coming harder and most seemed to be going for cover but Fabian walked out into the lawns, choosing a spot that was not central but more off towards the Therapy Building and Swim House, so enough room to practice safely but not in danger of disturbing anyone who does wish to be out now.
After a a few seconds to the the ‘feel’ of the weather Fabian looked up to the grey afternoon, hair sticking to his face already and then back down. His shirt was damp now… Wet material was heavy and sticks to you, so annoying. He was dumping it, and did so before focusing on the raindrops and letting his gift pull at them, then pushing any in a metre radios around him upwards and horizontal. Some escaped and Fabian was still getting wet from the rain he was not manipulating. But sidways rain, it was an odd sight though actually not too hard for the guard.

RANGER
_______________________ Rain was something the little fox didn’t like much. He didn’t like the building of Manson as well as he was used to sleeping in the den when it was wet or cold. His beautiful black fur was beginning to soaked from the rain and he shocked the water out of his coat as he was lying in the bushes until he ears caught the sound of someone coming into the courtyard. He was watching more as this person seemed to like the rain, and he tilted his head thinking on why he would like this. Ranger didn’t know what the power this male had, but he knew he was a wolf. Wolves and foxes didn’t get along much, so he would keep hidden and watched the male from the safe distance.
Ranger yawned as he was getting tired, as he was an only child and very tired one. He wasn’t the type to cause issues or be in trouble. Allowing his ears to keep an eye out on his surrendering curled up and went for a quick nap. The bushes kept him dry for now, even though it didn’t create much warmth for him though, he was shivering from the cold. Ranger was new to the shifting world, and he was currently stuck in his fox form, but he really enjoyed it though and rather this form, than his human one as he was bullied a lot. Being a fox he was able to explore things without being bullied and chase around.

With the rain dampening the scents of things around him, Fabian didn’t know he was being watched and continued to practice (read ‘play’) with the weather. In any case, his wolf nor his guard was going to be on high alert for a cub, so the rain stayed bending sideways as that was what Fabian had focused on. It brought a twitch of a smile to the guard’s face, in public it was rare he just relaxed and let himself have fun in any way without the presence of alcohol in his system. Privately, sure he could drop the literal and metaphorical armour but that was because he knew privately he had nobody to judge him, to comment, to make jokes. To ask him ‘why?’ rather than just accept there were certain things he enjoyed and he had no reason for it or easy way to explain without feeling damn awkward. The other werewolf in his life was a godsend in that regard and looking towards the therapy building in the distance, Fabian wondered if he was at all gaining some attention from who might be inside.
It made the smile on his face grow a bit stronger. Not just at the idea that Zevren might be secretly enjoying the performance but perhaps Lyss too… It hadn’t gone totally unnoticed to Fabian that on the beach trip, the other counsellor had really enjoyed being shot out the water, had enjoyed the surfing, had seemingly enjoyed watching him climb up the steep cliff path too. Fabian guessed his inner wolf might have read the signals wrong but still, the possibility gave Fabian a shot of confidence, having never really believed his husband when the man said more admired him than he realised. Of course Fabian was loyal to only the one who wore a matching ring on his finger, but isn’t it nice to know people like you? Fabian was in general far more used to getting death threats than admiring glances.
Bending the rain a little more now Fabian turned it around him, creating a mini whirlwind of water that hid him from easy view for a few seconds before he forcefully pushed it outwards to splat against any nearby trees and flowers. As soon as his control was gone the rain started falling on his head again but the smile didn’t leave and Fabian just started pulling rods of water up from the ground to throw around instead.

Ranger was new in Manson and he still yet to trust inside. Even though it would have been a lot more warmer and drier. The young cub was still sleeping, feeling safer outside than being inside in a strange building. It has only been a week since he been brought her by the people, who thought he would be safe. The youngster was an orphan, his mother was shot by a hunter. Ranger haven’t met anyone around here just yet, or what this place was for. The reason he stayed hidden and only came out to hunt, which was good for his age.
Slowly he stretched out as he was done with his nap now. He shook his sweet little head as he got ready to get something to eat not knowing there was a guard here. Ranger didn’t know there were different people here, and he watched him curiosity. He tried to sniff but the rain made it hard to get the scent. Slowly he moved around in the bushes, trying to keep the sound down as possible, so he could sneak out the area and get some food.
Slowly he stepped down on the ground but he stepped on a twig and he froze on the spot, waiting to see the other guy heard it or not. Until he was safastied to, he would keep on moving.

It was seldom Fabian used his natural gift whilst at work, he found usually the designated gear and an intimidating presence was enough to get the job complete, but he felt that was no reason not to practice his born skills a little, after all there were times he did use the hydrokinesis to bring down a rampaging resident. Just as an occasion is rare didn’t mean you shouldn’t prepare and practice for it. This is why he was pulling rods of water out the ground now, they could be thrown and compared to a ball of water (his usual go-to), it had a smaller surface area, the point should have greater impact if you can get it to connect with something like a leg.
Looking to some nearby trees Fabian practiced pulling at the surface tension and throwing the rods through the rain. He wasn’t aiming to do damage to the trees or any other plant life thinking it might upset Kaia and the other gardeners a little, so the force was lesser than he could create but still the water hit the wood with enough impact to splatter back around metre. Pulling out another water rod, Fabian was about to throw that one too when he heard a twig snap and the let the rod fall into the rain and he turned to look around and down to a small black fox nearby.
Was he there all this time? Fabian assumed he must have been. It seemed an odd place to relax or sleep but then he guessed he couldn’t really comment being that he was playing in the rain right now. After looking to the resident a few seconds Fabian glanced away and made another rod, this time aiming it at a wooden bench, thinking he could probably knock it over if he got the angle and force correct, so thats what he tried to do. If the fox wanted to watch Fabian wasn’t going to stop him doing so, wouldn’t stop him walking back to the dry either.

The little fox stared with the other person as he was spotted. He didn’t move from his spot for a while. He knew the other guy was not just a guy with powers. He can see there was something else in him too. The young fox didn’t know what it was yet. He wasn’t afraid of him and kept looking for small grubs he was able to eat, which is what use to survive. The fox didn’t want to get too close to the male though, as he wasn’t a fox like him and his mother taught him to stay away from other predators.
He grabbed some snacks which was enough to keep him full for now, and he shook his fur more releasing some of the water from his pelt. He then sat down and watched the other guy. He was shocked on how he could do these things, and part of him was obsessed with the new things. He let out a very playful and extictable bark, to test to see what he would do next.

Since the resident wasn’t saying anything and Fabian was not the type to strike up a random conversation with a stranger first, the guard kept focused on his current game and launched the watery rod at the bench that stood at least ten metres in the distance. It hit hard on the centre top and the bench rocked back but did not actually fall over like Fabian thought it would. Obviously it needed to be hit harder or with a larger object… Fabian wasn’t annoyed though, trial and error, thats how you learn things.
The fox cub resident seemed to be enjoying the show if his excited barking was to judge by, which was unexpected but Fabian still didn’t mind being watched. Back in the Secure Facility there sometimes was an audience witnessing what he and his colleagues were doing, occasionally they took it upon themselves to join in too. You sort of did have to blank it out and just focus on the job.
Making a ball of water, Fabian changed the density so although it still looked swirling and semi-transparent, it was actually quite heavy, and after throwing and catching it a few times, Fabian chucked that too towards the bench and this time succeed in knocking it over with a rather satisfying and loud bang and the wolf in Fabian couldn't help but let out a small, bark howl of pride after seeing it happen.

Watching the entertainment in the lawn was exciting. It also helped him get something to eat lot easier as well, as the water encourage the food to raise to the surface. His ears watched him more, as he finally heard the bench moving and the sound which scared him more than anything, it was a howl from a wolf. Ranger knew wolves and foxes do not get along, and he quickly scapered to the nearest small hole in a nearer tree. He was scared to come out just incase the wolf wanted to kill him. Ranger knew the hole was too small for a big animal to get into, so he would stay here until it was safe. He was tired again after the meal he had anyway, and this tree trunk was able to keep him dry from the rain, and it provided him secuity.

Now he had knocked the bench flat Fabian guessed he should stand it back up again as well as check for any damage, he didn’t think he would have caused any of the struts to split but he would feel a little negligent if he didn’t at least look. As he was walking Fabian saw the fox running off but didn't question it and just checked the bench over and ran a hand over the area he hit while he righted it but nothing seemed broken… So, capable of taking another hit? The guard gave it some consideration as he made his way back to the same spot, half wanting to try again but sort of knowing he should use a more solid target for practice. At this point he also saw the fox had completely vanished from sight… he had no clue where or why though and only briefly wondered if he had scared the kid. But what could he do about that? Fabian glanced around the area before just focusing on the rain again and pushed it back upwards in an ark along with a lot of the moister from his clothes so he could stay dry for a moment.

Ranger didn’t know this place had wolves in it. He was scared to come out of the tree trunk as he didn’t want to be eaten. Sticking his head briefly as his bright green eyes looked out, scanning around and he saw that the wolf was still there. He was trapped and he started to fox bark for his mum to come back and get him. The young cub didn’t think his mother was gone completely. He then stopped to listen for his mother to call back, but she never did. After twenty minutes he then tried again and barked little loudler. A raindrop fell onto his nose which caused him to sneeze, and rubbing with his front leg. He waited to see any calls would come back to him, and he hope it was his mother and not some other wolf.

The rain seemed to be getting lighter again now but with the sky still being grey Fabian didn’t think it would stop completely yet and so he stayed out just enjoying the scents that were rising up now and the general feel of being out in his element. It was a little noisy with the added wind and sound of raindrops hitting various things around the grounds but after a little while, over it he thought he heard the sound of…a fox? It took him a second to realise what animal it was since clearly it was not a wolf and ‘cat’ did enter his head but it was a little too high pitched for that. Maybe it was that cub that ran off? Fabian wasn’t sure what the kid was making noise about, words were as hard to make out over a long distance with added distraction for shifter as much as it was for any human, echos distorted it, that and Fabian was far more fluent in wolf and howls than a fox cubs barks. So he gave a howl back, assuming this was just part of whatever game the kid was barking excitably about before.

Ranger listened for his mother’s calls, even though she would never answer him back. He barked twice more, as he was trying to reveal his location to her. He didn’t think she would just abandoned him and he would be picked back up by her soon. He looked around and the rain seemed to calm down a little. His yellow eyes which gleam brightly against his dark fur. Ranger called again just in case his mother didn’t hear him. But his ears caught the sound of a wolf howl, he placed his ears back and gulped to this noise. He wasn’t sure where this sound was coming from. He kind of forgotten that the guard was a wolf. He slipped through some hedges and looked around again.
He decided that his mum wasn’t coming just yet and he was able to eat more grubs which were easy to get to thanks for the rain. He went to one of the flower beds, and started to dig vicariously for some grubs which were hiding underneath the soil. He didn’t know the area was off limits, he was just looking for food. He went to another area and started to dig up more flowers from their beds, and he got more grubs which filled his stomach up.
He wasn’t full quite yet and he was going to the last of the flowerbed and started to dig in the area as well, not caring he was destroying an area which was off limits.

Fabian went quiet after the howl, he expected the fox kid to make some kind of noise in return but he didn’t hear anything significant over the wind, rain or any of the other background noises. If the guard was another personality type he might have gone to try and find Ranger, but then probably if he was another personality he would have realised the act of blasting the bench over had scared the kid rather than excited him and never of howled (therefor adding to) the apparent distress caused in the first place. Fabian was not an unintelligent person by any means, but his IQ and EQ were at different levels, kids were a baffling mystery and he was on a break right now. Short of someone trying to blow up parts of the academy or running through the grounds screaming and wheedling a knife, right now things were not his problem and since Ranger as far as he knew wasn’t causing any major problems, he left the kid alone.
A little flower bed digging up wouldn’t have phased him anyway, as a pack the wolves caused a fair bit of woodland damage, not intentionally but it was hard to avoid when running and hunting as a group. Fabian thought he smelled fresh dirt in the air like someone was digging but ignored it and instead just aimed his hand to try and knock the bench over again with one hand while pulling at water soaking in the ground with the other. He had seen the kid sniffing around and eating bugs before, maybe he was hungry?

The weather was awful.. Not exactly sunbathing weather anyway, something that Zevren had been taking advantage of whenever he could the last few weeks. But now the heavens had opened and he found himself sat inside for his break for the first time in a while, however, his mind was on Fabian. He knew his husband loved this weather, the ability that he was born with made him come to life when the rain began to fall, it was probably the only time Zev enjoyed it too. Rght now he was thinking that Fabian was probably busy, if he'd have realised that the man was already on the grounds then he certainly wouldn't be sat in the staff room with his feet up an halfway through eating a sandwich. There was no way of really hearing the hydromancer tossing water around through the glass paned windows.
However, the howl was pretty difficult to ignore. Impossible to ignore actually, Zev found himself smiling as he thought of Fabian in the rain and his sandwich got left abandoned on top of it's tupperware as he pretty much just got up and made his way to the entrance of the therapy building. If anybody spotted him he'd look like he was on a mission to get somewhere, he didn't meet anybody on the way though and he ended up just walking into the rain. On reflection he probably should have removed some clothing, he didn't exactly have any spare with him but he'd sighted the guard throwing water around not far from the therapy building and a wider, slightly more mischievous grin pulled at his lips.
He was going to try and sneak up on the man. Probably not the best of ideas considering they were at work and therefore there were dangerous residents about, but he somehow doubted he'd be hurt even if he did get thrown to the floor. Or at least Fabian would reallise who he was before he ended up in some body lock. Or pinned down with the water falling from the sky.
So if all went well and the scent of the rain covered his own like he hoped it would then he'd get close enough to at least get his hands on his husband. He was half expecting to get a face full of water really, or to get thrown back onto the floor by a sudden wall of liquid. Either way he didn't mind, boredom and the stodginess of work made him want to vent a little extra energy. He wasn't aware that there was a fox cub around just yet..

The cub was digging more, he didn’t mean to cause a mess. He was simply trying to get some food to settle his stomach, which was rumbling like crazy. Thanks to the guard the soaked soil, was encouraging the bugs to come to the surface, and he was easily able to grab them. He picked up one in his mouth and started to eat quickly. He was taught to eat quickly and move on, considering there was lot dangers for him. His piecing gold eyes watched the area and he heard the howl have stopped.
Ranger was getting more bold and tried to communicate, even though his fox barks were nothing compared to the howl of the wolf. He started to make noise again. He didn’t know there was another wolf in the area now. The rain was awful for the scent work. He shook his head as some of the dirt have managed to get into his ear, and he started to scratch at the ear a little to try and get the mud out of her ear. Finding another bush he was close to the wolf now, but only his eyes were visible through the brushes, as he watched him again, and lied down softly.
