Ida knew she didn’t have to be here, that she had come voluntarily and could leave whenever she wanted to, but she wasn’t really in a hurry to go anywhere else. She liked the people here and felt like she had a lot more to learn. “You can sign up for classes, even if you don’t need them,” she said, chuckling slightly. “I take classes. Not just to be a therapist, but to learn about the modern world. I kind of slept through a lot of new inventions, so learning how to use them is useful for living on land.” She was glad he was so willing to help her try to push her limits though, but if she could help him find something to do so he wouldn’t be bored, she wanted to help with that too. She nodded at his words. “Probably thought it was a better fit than any of the other groups,” she suggested. “The good news is, once they get to know you a little better, they might change it,” she said, smiling at him. No, he didn’t seem crazy to her, so maybe he would get place in a different group after some sessions. “It is also not our fault people are naturally drawn to admire us,” she added, attempting to braid her wet hair to keep it in place. It got tiresome at times, but it mostly wasn’t her fault when people did so she figured she might as well try to enjoy it. Ida enjoyed Louis’s company, and she had no problem sharing that he was good at more than being just company. “The pool is a great place for a little fun,” she said, chuckling slightly. “He’s basically a very refined empath, I think maybe that contributes to it. I mean, feeling what he makes you feel? Yeah, that’d make me want to be excellent,” she said, chuckling slightly. Listening to him talk about wanting to drop by the Naga one time, she couldn’t help but be amused. “Well, don’t say I didn’t warn you when your natural charms don’t work,” she said, winking at him. Hey, if he wanted to bother Damian, all the power to him. But at least she could warn him that he was grumpy and that it wasn’t personal. “Both,” she replied about the elemental in the basement. “Or living ice. I think her species is more water than person, because she has no trouble going from one state to another.” Ida couldn’t help but be impressed by the young girl. Of course, she wasn’t as young as she looked, but she was younger than Ida. Way younger.

IT TOOK US TO WHERE THE WATER WAS
THAT'S WHAT THE WATER GAVE ME.
“You know what,” Devon starts after Ida tells him that she has been taking classes, “I might do just that. Just need to figure out which one I should take.” He has never attended school even if he’s been walking on land for years. When his grandmother mentions and explains what attending school means, his interest is never sparked by it. But being here in Manson and so far with nothing to do, he guesses he’s going to do it. He thinks he is smart anyways. Beauty and brains all wrap up with a ribbon on it is Devon. He gives off a smile thinking about this. He needs to stop being negative about his situation because it looks like he is going to be in here for a while. A long while. But complaining is such a great hobby so he does not think he will ever get rid of it. When Ida tells him that being part of the crazies fit him most among the groups, he kind of agrees. He has his crazy part but who has not? Maybe his crazy is not the normal level of crazy for humans or even supernaturals. Oh well, who doesn’t like to be crazy. Being mundane is so boring. “I mean I did go a little crazy when people think they’re better than me,” he explains to Ida. “Or just when they think the look better than me,” he adds with a lopsided grin. Add that to all the mischief he has done on his travels making people fight for him for his entertainment and near death experiences for people in a body of water. Now that he thinks of it, maybe he is one of the crazies. At least Devon is aware of it unlike others he’s sure. Ida shares that she and the vampire she mentions have their fun in the pool area. Devon gives him another nasty smirk for this. She also says that he is a refined empathy and oh wow, that does equates to great and amazing sex with all those emotions being passed to one another. Talk about libido multiplied by a thousand. “I’m glad you’re getting some. I hope I get some soon because being dry as fuck is not fun. Oh, at all!” he complains. When Ida warns him about the Naga and Devon’s charms not going to work on him, he just chuckles. “Oh I don’t expect him to fall for my natural merman charms or my siren voice. I have met a lot of Nagas especially in South East Asia and they’re all snobby and prickly!” he recounts. “I did love pushing their buttons. It’s dangerous but I think us merfolk can handle them so I was not worried.” Well he doesn’t worry a lot to be honest. He knows he can handle himself in a fight even if not around water. As he says a lot, merfolk are natural born predators. When Ida tells him that the literal water creature turns into ice and is actually more water than human, Devon becomes more interested. “So what kind of creature is she? I’ve never met literal water creatures before. I have heard of stories of water guardians in my travels. I think some refer to them as Morphlings but I am not sure,” he tells Ida.

Ida enjoyed the variety of classes they had to offer here. She might sign up for more if she she felt they applied, but she didn't really see what use she had for maths in daily life. Or languages for that matter. The latter was probably because they came just as easily to her as music did though. "Could always try to start some water-sport club too, for the pool," she suggested. "I mean, I'd do that myself, but I don't really know any." She wasn't good at sports, but then she'd never had to be. And water sports just hadn't been on her list of things to get acquainted with aside from on TV. While she had only just met Dev, he didn't strike her as a killer or particularly violent compared to a lot of the other residents. So maybe they thought his narcissism was a bigger problem than anything else. "Let's face it love, I'm the only one that can be better things than you, and that's only because I've had hundreds of years of practice," she teased, grinning at him. "I mean, you've clearly got the better genes for things though so age is clearly overrated." She wasn't saying he was prettier than her, but he was definitely better equipped for life on land for starters. Listening to Dev, she couldn't help but decide that she'd help him if she met someone else who seemed lonely. "Best thing about this place?" she started, leaning in closer: "all sorts of people who just want to get some without a relationship attached," she said. "You just gotta go to the bar or something. Show that face of yours, smile at the right people, and I'm sure you'll have a very lucky night indeed." Maybe that was a little cocky of her, but it seemed to be how most of her flings around here got started. Damian would no doubt be immune to Devon's natural charms the way he seemed to be immune to hers, but she liked the Naga. He was good company, even when he was grouchy. Maybe that was because he just understood the whole eating people and not feeling comfortable in her human skin a lot more than others did. "This one's a senior guard though, if you push him too far, you might end up in solitary," she explained. It seemed only fair he knew that it might not be the best idea to antagonize this particular Naga. "Don't think I've heard of a morphling before," she admitted. "But Kaia is the guardian of the lake, this girl is probably closer to an elemental than anything else. As far as I know, she doesn't need a water source to survive, just colder climates." Ida hadn't entirely figured out what the blonde was yet, namely because she'd been too busy being entertained to ask, but she did have a way with water that was for sure. And the only reason she did seem to come to the lake was to play with it or cool off.

IT TOOK US TO WHERE THE WATER WAS
THAT'S WHAT THE WATER GAVE ME.
Ida says that Devon can also probably start a club or something. He doesn’t know if that’s a good idea with all the personality and creatures running around in this priso- school, he means. “I’ll keep that in mind for sure. I do love some sports. I get to show off this body of mine,” he says while turning around easily in the water to pretend he is showing Ida himself in a 360 view. Devon stops after one spin and cackles. Sometimes, he is just so funny he makes himself laugh. Devon continues laughing at Ida. “Okay, grandma,” he says jokingly. “You’re the prettiest grandma I have seen!” he says with a cackle. Devon likes having this banter with Ida because he knows she can banter back. When she says that age is overrated, Devon nods. “Super overrated,” he replies. Apparently, going to the bar is the best way to get laid in this hellhole. “I do like to drink,” Devon says. “I’ll definitely go and visit the bar.” And then he lets out a big sigh of relief when Ida says that this place is the best place to find someone without expectations of commitments. “Thank goodness then! I don’t have to worry about people becoming clingy or whatever,” he says. The Naga is apparently a senior guard in this school and can put people in the solitary. Damn, this place really is like a prison. A super-maximum prison if he’s being honest but with better facilities and equipment. Some inmates can go to the next town too so there’s that. “Damn,” he says, “I wanted to piss a Naga off but with that one being a senior guard it’s going to be impossible.” Devon pouts a little at this information. He wants to play with a prickly Naga. Oh well. “Oh, an elemental,” Devon says with an interest. He has heard of elementals. Pure element-based creatures that are scary when angered. He just hopes this water elemental does not cross his path when she’s in a mood because she might drown him with water. And Devon’s a merman and that’s impossible. Devon thinks he’s had enough fun in the water for the day so he decides to tell Ida that he’s going to go lay down in his room. “So Ida,” he starts, “I think I’m heading back in. Really had a great time with you and we should go to town like we talked about!” He slowly swims to the edge of the lake where his clothes are while still facing Ida as he waits for her response. When he reaches the land, he gets out of the water and dresses himself getting everything wet. Seriously, that is a dumb move but better than walking back to the room naked showing everyone his goods. There are some who are still prickly about nudity. “So what do you want to do in town so I know what I’ll wear?” he asks Ida.
OOC: My next post will probably the last post? Like Devon saying goodbye and hugging Ida so they can continue the RP going to town! :3 | IDA EVALINA RADCLIFFE

Watersports certainly seemed like it might be something Devon would enjoy and Ida didn’t think it was a bad thing to suggest. Like she’d said, she would’ve enjoyed it too if she’d actually known how to play any. It seemed like a lot of fun when she’d seen it on TV. Hmm… Maybe she should enter some sort of swimming competition just for shits and giggles? That’d certainly be amusing. Since she wasn’t in any danger of changing in a pool, it’d be perfectly safe too and a good way to show off her talents without actually showing off. “Any excuse to show off is good,” she agreed, chuckling at his spin. She loved showing off too, usually in human form though. For some reason, Ida didn’t mind being called grandma because for once she knew it was genuinely in jest. “I’d race you, but the lake isn’t big enough for it to be a fair race,” she teased, happy to pass on information about the bar instead. It did seem like a good place to meet people who were just looking for a little bit of fun. Hell, anywhere around here seemed like a good place for that, but the bar was probably the best place to meet someone. “I haven’t had any problems with clingy at least,” she said, chuckling slightly. Not pissing off Damian was probably a good choice. She liked the Naga, didn’t want to send anyone to piss him off because that would surely get back to her and that was the last thing she wanted. No, it seemed far safer to talk about Mel and try to get Dev interested in meeting her instead. Watching him swim towards the edge, she smiled at the thought of going to town. Yes, they definitely should. “Wear something… smart,” she said, grinning at him. She wasn’t going to tell him what she had in mind, that was better left as a surprise. Swimming closer to land herself, she pulled herself back on land and decided to get a little more sun on her human form before calling it a day. “I have a few things going the next couple of days, but if you meet me outside the dorms three days from now, right after dark, I’ll show you around town,” she told him, grinning at him.

“Any excuse to show off is good.” Devon cackles at that and replies with a sigh, “Words to live by. You really are showing me the wisdom of an old maiden.” He giggles a little at that. Then, Ida says she would race him back to land if the lake isn’t small. Devon thinks Ida will probably win. He isn’t into that thing on who is the fastest. Merfolk are really fast in water in general but Devon just doesn’t care to see his limit. Ida will definitely make him eat dirt. Oh, maybe bubbles. He laughs inwardly at himself for thinking of that. He honestly have not felt like he connects with a single creature, human or not, after he leaves his pod in Hawaii. Ida is probably the first one he can honestly call a true friend. Maybe it’s because they’re from the same line of creature or maybe just because they are creatures of the sea but Devon feels comfortable. He never realizes that the land above never feels like home until being with another sea creature. He feels this too when he is traveling and when he meets other merfolk or other sea creatures. Devon just feels comfortable with them. It’s the connection of the sea, who would have thought? “I’m glad you haven’t. If I have met you as a taken woman, you might have not given me the time of the day because you’re occupied with your other half,” he jokingly tells her. When Ida tells him to wear something smart when they go out, he just gives her a smile. “Babe, I always look good and smart,” he spreads his arms wide open and give her a show by turning in a circle. When Ida says that she has to do something for a few days Devon just nods at her because he kind of feels disappointed. He doesn’t know what to do yet tomorrow if he is not going to be with Ida. Maybe he’ll explore the academy grounds and see what’s good around here. Ida tells him to meet him outside of the dorms three days from now and they’ll go out at night. Devon nods to that liking the idea. A night out is not what he expects. He thinks that they will go on a day just for an afternoon stroll but a night out means there will be drinking and debauchery. That’s more of Devon’s style so he happily agrees to it. Stretching his arms out, he starts to bid his goodbye to Ida. “See you then! Can’t wait for our night out!” He waves his hand and as he turns around and heads back. He is probably going to fix his things in his room and then take a shower and maybe lurk around somewhere and discover some things about this dreary place. His first day at Manson turns out to be a pretty good one thanks to Ida, a beautiful and nice siren.
