While life was a little different now than it had been before Jackson arrived, Daisy knew that it was as important as ever, if maybe even more so, to show Bram that he wasn’t being replaced. She had been kind of worried he’d push them away thinking they wanted space, so she was just relieved nothing seemed to have changed. Aside from the fact that she still couldn’t be drinking and shouldn’t be drinking around the baby anyway. Giving Bram reassurance that she didn’t think he was going to hurt people for no reason seemed like the right thing to do when it seemed like she might have gotten him worried she thought he’d hurt people. Daisy chuckled too at the rhyme. It didn’t matter if he didn’t know who Nate was, sure sure didn’t, she just knew that name, and that he was a fae. She could sneak the records she supposed, but if this guy had come to Manson to help Lyss, well, then it hardly seemed fair to cheat like that.
“Bram smells awesome,” she agreed. Heck, she’d though he smelled good before she could actually smell the wolf on him, so she wasn’t complaining. And right now, she really did figure that being around his scent would help Jackson feel like he was there for him all the time. Because she knew it was possible to just call him and he’d be there, as long as it wasn’t daytime.
“Maybe you can help find one that looks like it’ll be good to him to chew on?” she suggested. “Being more familiar with them and all I mean.” It seemed like a reasonable suggestion that maybe he’d be able to find the right kind of stick for Jackson to grow into. Right material at least. The size he’d definitely grow into regardless. Since she wasn’t going to ask Bram to not pass on the chewing habit to the baby, it seemed best he got into the habit of chewing on the softer sticks rather than proper drumsticks.
She nodded when Bram said he wanted to hold him a little longer. She didn’t mind at all, and she knew the baby would sleep just as well, probably better even, in someone’s arms. “I don’t think you’ll need that,” she said, when he asked about a nursery room like that. “I wouldn’t have brought Jackson here if we weren’t coming to visit you. Babies don’t belong in bars, and if I drank alcohol, Jackson wouldn’t be able to nurse until it was out of my system or he’d get drunk too. Unless you decide to open a daycare during the day where alcohol isn’t on the menu, you’re good as it is.” Considering Bram probably hadn’t been around a lot of babies, it seemed like a perfectly fair question as far as she was concerned.

Finding the right stick was definitely something Bram thought he could help with, he wanted to suggest they all go shopping together because it felt imported that Jackson give some input into it too. But soon after Bram realised that would be very difficult, he could only go out at night and not many places were open late, for sure he had never seen any midnight music shops around here. So it seemed it would have to be a solo trip or something to wait until winter to do when it got dark much earlier while it was still working hours. “Sticks don’t cost too much, can buy a few of them to try.” Bram said as he looked over Jackson, even if they were a bit pricey Bram felt Jackson deserved it, he was going to spoil the kid.
He felt relieved to know though that Jackson would be the only baby he had to think about. He really didn’t want Carpe known as a part daycare facility unless it in some way was useful to Daisy, but apparently babies don’t belong in bars. Bram sort of knew that but he had wanted to make sure, he knew nothing about his own upbringing was typical and so even the seemingly dumb questions he wanted to check with her because who knows, maybe he hadn’t been informed about something that most families did.
Looking to Daisy he frowned a moment, wondering how her getting drunk made Jackson drunk but then his fell to her chest and it clicked. “Oh.” he said and then couldn’t help but laugh a little, the idea of booze boobs and all. “Bram doesn’t want a daycare.” he added with a shake of his head. “Just a Jackson care.”
“Should Bram drink less? If Jackson needs blood? Alcohol can be in blood, can’t it?” he asked looking a bit serious suddenly. The hybrid really didn’t know how or if he could do that without becoming more hyperactive than he already is but he would find a way if needed, even if it was just not drinking for some hours before he donated to Jackson. Although he was giving such a small amount maybe it didn’t matter, he felt like asking, the last thing he wanted to do was harm the baby.

There was no doubt in her mind that they’d be able to find the right stick for Jackson when they came in all shapes and materials. She just didn’t want it to be something that they did without Bram coming along so she was more than ok with waiting until winter and it was safe for Bram to be outside while the shops were still open. Unless Jackson started teething earlier, it wasn’t like there was that much of a rush anyway. Could just get a small one for him to suck on right now and get a bigger one later on. “Probably just buy the smallest and softest one they’ve got for now. He isn’t likely to actually be chewing on things for a few months at least anyway, so can get him used to them before they’re helpful for chewing. Then we can all go and get a selection for him for Christmas?” she suggested. That seemed reasonable after all. She didn’t think her family would be coming again this year, at least they hadn’t discussed it so far.
Daisy knew that there were a lot of things that were normal to Bram that seemed strange to other people, just like there were a lot of things that were normal for others that Bram seemed to think was strange. So him having questions about raising a baby was only to be expected. She had all the patience in the world for questions like that because they came from a general lack of knowledge rather than trying to pry or be annoying.
“Bram can definitely be in charge of Jackson care around here,” she said, chuckling slightly. While she might not be entirely ready to leave the baby alone with anyone else for too long, she knew that Bram’s logic was sound. Feed him, don’t drop him. And he loved the kid. “Maybe just before giving a little blood?” she suggested. “But a few drops is such a small amount I don’t think he’ll take any damage from that. Got that healing, even if he doesn’t shift yet after all.” She wasn’t overly worried about Bram getting Jackson drunk. A few drops of blood wasn’t going to make him drunk, it was just going to keep him safe. It seemed a little strange to be doing this in the first place, but she wanted what was best for Jackson and that was to be with his family.
“So, Bram, how’s it going with pint-sized?” she asked, wanting to know how he was doing too. “Settling in alright with a pet?” Pets were a lot of responsibility, but she had a feeling he was doing a good job of giving the bunny what it needed. It still seemed best to ask how he was doing though.

Bram didn’t know how his own chewing habit started, it was likely a hunger related trait at one stage which later turned into stimming like behaviour and now was pretty cemented into his psyche. It didn’t really matter, as whatever the cause Jackson was going to need his own sticks and Bram was happy to wait to provide them, though Christmas seemed so very far away… “Well, if needed I can just show you online what might be good. Don’t have to wait for Bram if Jackson needs things sooner.” Bram knew now was not the time to be selfish or thinking of himself. He was a papa-wolf and wolves put the babies first. Well, Jackson at least… Other babies probably had there own papa-wolves.
Bram gave a smile hearing Daisy say he could definitely be in charge around here and nodded as she said drinking less might be good just before he donated blood. That made sense, the last thing the hybrid wanted to do was harm Jackson in anyway, even if the kid did have shifter healing, that had its limits and the boy was still so tiny… Bram wasn’t used to it, he wasn’t used to anything small or quiet or needed delicate touches really. It meant getting Pint-Size was perfect timing really, he/she needed a soft touch too.
So even if it meant dealing with the full moon itch a bit more and having both his inner beasts a little more restless for an hour or two, Bram planned to make the sacrifice. “Ok, I can do that no problem.” he said with a nod, planning to practice it if they could make a consistent time for him to donate.
When Daisy asked about the bunny, Bram shifted a little and carefully handed Jackson back towards his mummy, it was only so he could pick up the rabbit himself. “Yeah. Think he/she likes Bram. Better living here than an alleyway where stupid foxes might eat them. Makes me calmer I think. Brain doesn’t twitch so much as can’t twitch if i’m holding Pint-Size.”
More than anything Bram was happy that nobody told him he had to take the bunny back or questioned too much how he acquired the animal.

Considering she had chewed on some furniture herself during full moons, Daisy figured it was best to preempt any chewing with Jackson and find an appropriate chew-toy. Besides, kids were a bit of a case of ‘monkey see, monkey do’ up to a certain age so he was likely to pick up the chewing habit from Bram anyway. “I’m sure he’ll be fine with just the one for now,” she reassured Bram. “Mostly going to be sucking on it until his teeth come in anyway, so it’ll last a while. Most likely until it’s dark enough for you to join us,” she added. She didn’t think Jackson was in any danger of growing teeth just yet, so they had time to wait so Bram could be a bigger part of stick shopping. Sure, it might be just as easy to buy online, but this was something she wanted documented with pictures. Bram and the baby finding the right sticks for both of them together. She couldn’t help but imagine it would be adorable.
Bram never ceased to amaze her. There were things she had worried about that he just swept in and was a natural at and melted all her worries. Her first full moon… Meeting Alice… Even holding Jackson seemed like something he’d been born to do. “You can pre-donate,” she suggested. “If you haven’t had a drink in a couple of hours and feel like you’re starting to twitch too much, just dribble a little blood in a glass or something?” she suggested. “I don’t want you to suffer either.” She knew Bram could get a little more hyperactive and agitated after all if he hadn’t had the right amount of alcohol to calm the conflicted beasts within. It was important he considered his own comfort in all this too.
Carefully accepting Jackson back, Daisy couldn’t resist leaning in to kiss his head before she slowly moved him back to his car seat so she could focus on Bram. Jackson was sleeping, he wouldn’t mind if they focused on the bunny for a while now. He’d gotten to meet his papa-wolf properly and get his scent all over him so she imagined he was happy.
While Daisy had wondered where Bram had gotten a bunny in the first place, she wasn’t going to deny that it was probably a good thing she hadn’t asked. The important thing was that it had a safe home with Bram now. “You do seem calmer,” she agreed, smiling at him. “You look more at ease somehow, it’s nice to see.” She couldn’t deny worrying about Bram at times, but knowing that he had someone to look after that seemed to calm him down made things easier.

Bram didn’t realise how enthusiastic about this whole baby thing he was going to be until recently, sure he was happy for Alpha and Daisy when they announced the news, he was even happier when he found out they were naming the baby after him and he was going to be papa-wolf to it, but the title in itself didn’t hold a lot of real meaning to him until this point. It was just out of his experience and so he found it hard to imagine just what might be expected of him, hence all the somewhat odd questioning. But now Jackson was here and could be held, smelt and licked, suddenly it all made a bit more sense. Bram still wasn’t sure what he was doing exactly but that seemed normal for all of them. Buying sticks for the mini-shifter also just felt normal and Bram smiled at the plan.
Other things might take a little work but Bram was willing to adjust his lifestyle as best he could, he wouldn’t say he can completely as he knew that would just render him a hyperactive and twitchy hybrid, therefore pretty useless to anyone including a baby, but holding off on a few beers, he was sure he could do that a few days a week even if it was just to stockpile blood. “Don’t worry about me. Can just take it out on the drums.” he said giving then a nod and then laughed. “Carpe has a good chiller so stockpiling is for sure possible.” he added just to show he was thinking seriously about it too.
Bram didn’t want Daisy worrying about him, she had enough to think about with Jackson. He gave a smile feeling her kiss but resisted the urge to grab her into a hug while she was placing Jackson back. After though he leaned across to give her cheek a lick.
Bram was glad she saw the calmness in him too, Bram hated to think he was just imagining it as he wanted to be a calming influence for Jackson as much as a fun, stick-chewing, awesome drummer type one. He did think it was the responsibility of caring for something so small, something he could hurt accidentally if he allowed himself to give in to all his primal urges just as it was easier than having a little restraint. Maybe tapping into his wolf’s pack nature and having a family to look after too.
“Bram is a lot more together than some think.” he said with a nod. “Was used to a lot of people around in the past, but you and Alpha are much nicer than my old crowd. So not lonely now, that helps keep the calm.”

There was a reason why Daisy had had that hormone implant in the first place. She’d thought she didn’t want more kids. How wrong she’d been. Jackson was a blessing. She wouldn’t trade him for anything. Sure, she missed Alice, but having Jackson around made her feel like she could do anything. He’d made her feel like a better person. Made her life feel more complete. It seemed to make all their lives fuller. Bram was going to be amazing at this whole being a parent thing, she was sure of it. It didn’t matter if Jackson wasn’t technically related to him, they were still going to be family to each other and that was all that mattered.
Daisy nodded at what he said. It made sense to her. As long as Bram was comfortable, it didn’t matter how they did this. She just didn’t want the hybrid to suffer too much because of them. If Bram said it’d be ok, then she was going to take his word for it. “You know yourself best,” she said, smiling at him. It was true, and despite what she was sure he must’ve heard at Manson in the past, it was important to her that he knew she thought that at least.
She smiled at the lick on her cheek. She was getting used to his kind of affection, at least from him. She still thought it would be kind of weird if anyone else licked her or licking anyone else randomly.
The fact that Bram had a lot of energy was certainly going to be a benefit once Jackson got a little older and started running all around the place. Would definitely be a good way to tire him out. As for right now? Well, even if Bram was calmer than usual, she had a feeling he’d still be a calming influence even if he was a bit hyperactive. Simply because he was familiar.
“You won’t be alone again for a very long time,” she said, smiling at him. She was glad he appreciated them as much as they appreciated him. In many ways, Carpe falling down last year had been a blessing since it had brought them all closer. “You’ve got me, and Lyss, and when we’re old and frail, you’ll have Jackson, and hopefully be a grandpa-wolf.” And great-grandpa and so on. Bram was going to outlive them, but that didn’t mean he ever had to be alone.

There was something nice about having a routine, things to do at a set time and place. If Bram was going to admit to missing anything about his old life it was the fixed, daily chores that were placed on him. Not specifically what he had to do (he would never miss that…) but just the expectation of him doing it. Bram was the type that went slightly into self destruct mode if his mind was left to its own devices too long, truly finding Manson and then Carpe had saved him. In order to run a bar he had to be organised, he had to plan things and do things on set days and get other people to do things at set times too. Of course playing drums took a huge amount of focus and falling into a routine of its own. Now he had a family to think of and a baby and they need a lot of planning for, Bram couldn’t see himself falling into any bad old habits with all this crowding his head instead.
It all made him smile, knowing he would never be alone made him smile… Until Daisy mentioned the future and Bram went a little rigid. Bram didn’t like to think that far ahead. Of course he knew he was going to live longer, he lost count how long he had already due to the extremely slow rate he aged, if he even did age now. No… old Daisy and Alpha was not something he was going to get into his brain yet. “But that’s far, far future. Were-animals don’t age that fast. No need to worry.” he said, more to himself than anything and petted Pint-Size a little more before getting up to put them back into the hutch then went back to the sofa, chewing on his stick as he flopped back down. "Not allowed to get old too fast. Need more mini Alpha-Daisy's"

Life was slowly settling into a new routine that included the baby. Before long now, that routine would include bringing the baby to work so she could at least focus on her guard’s training. If she only went to work for training sessions, it’d be alright to bring Jackson and he wouldn’t get in the way too much. Not that he’d be in the way for her at her desk either, but he might interrupt others from doing their job.
She was grateful she didn’t age as fast as she’s used to, it made her smile at Bram’s words. “No need to worry indeed,” she said, smiling at him. No, there was no reason to worry about the future too much, it would catch up with them when it caught up with them. In the meantime she fully intended to live life to the fullest, raising Jackson included. She couldn’t help but be a little baffled at his next words though. “Let’s not think too much about that?” she suggested. She didn’t want to talk about that right now. Jackson hadn’t been planned in the first place, if they had more kids in the future, she couldn’t imagine they’d be planned either. She’d already had two kids, that was plenty for her.

Bram momentarily frowned as Daisy said they shouldn’t think too much about making more miniature Alpha-Daisy. He understood that she might not want another baby immediately but if they all were as much of a pack as he thought then more babies shouldn’t be something to debate long over. Unless… Bram chewed a little more on his drumstick and nodded as he figured this was probably another example of how born wolves and the human born shifters differed. “Ok.” he said quietly hoping that he hadn’t upset Daisy. To him the idea of a large family seemed perfectly normal now he was in a growing one, that and his slave community was pretty huge (not that he would identify it as a ‘family’ in the same way). ALL this all brought back more vague memories, feelings, of a time when he was sure he might have had siblings, maybe even a mother and a father himself. “Bram can be like a big brother and a papa-wolf for now.” until Daisy did want to give Jackson a playmate
