Zack had been released from the Medical Centre but he was by no means free. If anything, he was under more careful watch than usual and had been banned from leaving the main building completely until at least the end of the month. It was a security measure, more for the other residents and staff than any concerns to Zack's safety. Being the person that the Fae is, he could not keep too quiet about his need to reclaim top spot on the list of psychos here as rumours were that he had been knocked down a number or two during his 'absence', so more reason to keep him apart from others and doing what he deemed needed to get back up the list.
Yet also due to the person that the Fae is, he had a physiological need to be around nature and keeping him from the outside ultimately would do more harm than good and so he had been allowed to the rooftop garden with the hope being that he couldn't cause too much damage up there and still lacked the strength to use any Fae trickery to sneak away. Truth was, Zack was still slightly healing and so the guards and residents were safe from his physical violence but not quite safe from his blades.
It didn't take much effort to glamour them into his hair, not that Zack planned to keep it there too long, in fact as he walked around the roof top, guard shadowing him five steps behind... he planned on sticking it into the first other body he saw.

Sage was alone. Which wasn't a strange thing to most people, usually he always seems like he's on his own but his ever present sidekick (not that he'd call Ade that to his face) wasn't by his side. Or in the near vicinity. The spirit had left Sage on his own for a short while to go and do something in the forest. Or somewhere. Sage doesn't ted to pry too much into Ade's personal business, the dead guy doesn't get up to much other than following him around most of the time so if he wants to wander off then he'd let him do so. It'd be nice for a little bit of peace and quiet.
Plus, he could call upon Ade within moments if he needed him. But this was the rooftop garden, how dangerous a place could it really be?
Spring had hit the place finally, there was a lot more greenery around than there had been in the winter and colour, reds and yellows, blues, pinks and purples. The white daisy's in particular had his attention right now. The little drunk sat with a small pile of plucked daisies beside him and he was threading them together in a way that he and his sister used too when they were younger. A lot younger. She'd died at the age of nine so it was at least ten years ago now. It brought back fond memories of sitting in the sun onn the grass with her and just ignoring for that small space of time just how crap their lives really were. They had to be careful not to laugh or talk too loudly in case they woke or bothered their mother, but they usually got to make a few bracelets and necklaces before they were called back inside.
He was in the middle of placing a particular daisy chain on top of his head when he noticed the dark haired guy walking through the gardens, a guard trailing closely behind him. Which meant a high level, somebody dangerous. Or somebody dangerous to himself.. Sage wasn't sure which it was, neither did he particularly care, the kid hadn't really got into too much of an issue with anybody within Manson and he didn't think he was going to start now. So he stared at the dark haired guy until he caught his eye, then lifted his hand in a little wave, "fancy joining me? Could do with another set of hands to pluck up some more daisies, I'm running low. Grounds comfy though.."
This guy looked like he should probably be sat down. A bit pale.. Anemic maybe.

Zack did need and want this outside time but he also felt the urge to take his blade to someone, anyone, it really did not matter who and if left with no other choice he would turn around and slice into his shadowing guard. Sure it might result in time in solitary but Zack would take his highs where he could get them, nobody ever said addicts were particularly smart people, regardless of the addiction.
But then the Fae’s gaze landed on another resident and just for a moment Zack thought he found his target, only he got the feeling now the other was doing as much staring back to him, it turned his thoughts to wondering what the dude’s problem is. If the other had not spoken up in that moment then a blade would have been lodged firmly into his face, or arm, wherever was easiest because it was bloody rude to stare, but the question instead drew Zack’s focus down to the plucked daisies.
That was also enough to see metal put somewhere you rather it was not placed… but Zack had enough restraint right now to instead take the offer made as an opportunity to get what he wanted and maybe get to stay here too.
So after looking back to his guard to seemingly get the ok to join in, Zack waited for the nod (presumably on the idea making daisy chains was about the least dangerous activity Zack could be doing), then Zack with his back somewhat obscuring the other resident.
“Hello.” Zack said pleasantly enough and then ran a hand through his hair, tucking it behind pointed ears and then leaned forward quickly, one hand cupped firmly across Sage’s mouth and the other moving to lodge a blade into his thigh. “Don’t scream. We are going to use these daisies and you won’t pick more, understand?” he said quietly. As much as he hated the flowers were picked he equally didn’t want to see them go to waste.

Sage hadn't meant to be creepily staring or anything.. But nobody could deny that Zack wasn't exactly the typical looking person. The ectomancer has seen a lot since being within Manson, wings and tails, people turning into animals, but he hadn't seen somebody like him before. If he had to guess he'd have put his finger on 'elf' purely because of the tips of his ears and the colour of his eyes, but what does he know? He could be some kind of impy fairy thing, or a demon.. That latter idea didn't come to him until after Zack was approaching though, but still he managed to keep his smile somewhat in place and he gently picked up a few of the daisies, ready to hand them over to Zack for him to get started on his own chain.
And then he had a hand over his face.
Sage's eyes widened in sudden surprise and for a moment he didn't understand why the guy had said 'don't scream', but his gaze trailed down to the touch on his leg and he whimpered against the guy's hand when he spotted blood. It was then that it started to hurt, a sharp, deep pain that made him simply nod his head just that tiny little bit. He'd never been in a situation quite like this and so was obedience better? At least until he no longer had a blade in his flesh, he was scared enough to do as he's told.. Sage doesn't mind bleeding, but only when it feels good.
This didn't feel good.
"'Kay," he murmured against his hand. Zack looked alien enough to him for him to be worrying about all sorts of crazy shit in his mind and he found he couldn't quite stop staring at those purple eyes of his. Or the strong spiritual thread that spiralled off of the guy. Despite this being somebody who was obviously a little violent, or unhinged, or both, who knows, he wasn't a mass murderer. Or he'd have more spirits hanging around him, "jus'dunhurtme." Whether he was understandable or not he had no idea, but Sage does know that as soon as soon as he's capable of doing so he's going to push this dark haired, pointy eared guy over and run the hell away towards that guard.
Or use his ability to tug on that spiritual thread and see who the hell turns up. For now though, shock and fear had his brain not really working properly. The residual alcohol in his system probably didn't help matters much either.. So he just sat there staring like a bloody deer in the headlights.

Zack was well practiced in the art of stabbing, if you can be such a thing… He knew where to land a knife or a blade to cause bleeding and pain but not quite let the one who had been stabbed aware of it until the it had gone in and done damage. Somewhere fatty was usually good, a place other than where the victim was looking as often it was the sight of something that caused more a reaction rather than the act itself. Of course Zack was also trying to keep the deed a secret from his guard too, hence the effort made to keep his back obscuring the view of Sage and the hand over the guys mouth to stop any hint of a shout. This was all far from the worse Zack could inflict on a person, just something small to fill his own need and give a warning… If flowers were meant to be picked they would pull themselves out the ground.
Seeing the nod from the other, Zack smiled… it was nice when he did not have to work for compliance. A rush of energy and a shiver down his spine and Zack honestly felt ten times better, like the world and a wrong had suddenly been corrected, and in his own head, things were being fixed. Other people might need a reminder still as to what and who he is after last months breakdown but for now, Sage could be a little messenger.
Feeling a mumble of agreement against his hand, Zack then slowly removed it. No, he would hurt Sage more, wouldn’t promise not to either since he never knew his own behaviour really but it wasn’t in the planning more this meeting. “Who is the chain for?” he asked curiously while picking up a few daisies of his own. Caro might like one fashioned into a bracelet.

Sage didn't know whether or not to trust that smile that came to Zack's face after he'd nodded his agreement to comply. Maybe he would have thought it'd been a bit more friendly if his leg wasn't currently bleeding and there wasn't a hand clasped over his lower face. He probably looked as surprised and fearful as he felt right now, which subconsciously just made his own ability make him shine ever brighter as a 'beacon' to the dead. From the corner of his eye he spotted the familiar creep of shadows within shadows, weak spirits that couldn't quite manifest but were like moths to the flame.
Him, being the flame.
His leg stung. And he still had enough blood in his body that he wasn't woozy enough not to care, he didn't particularly like that. Neither did he like the taste left on his lips. He'd licked them as soon as Zack had removed his hand but quickly ducked his head a little to hide the slight grimace, salty. Not nice. He was half expecting to be hurt again but the question asked by this pointy eared guy slightly mollified him and he glanced up at him hesitantly before handing over a few more daisies, "me and my sister used to make them.. When we were kids," he was answering simply so he doesn't get another blade in his leg. Or elsewhere.
Sage doesn't want a bunch of holes in his clothes, "she had dark hair too.. Long, like yours, they looked good on her. Didn't you ever make them?" Talking was better than stabbing. Even though he was guessing that Zack didn't particularly like daisy chains considering his response, he had to ask..

Zack did not really care who this resident was making a daisy chain for or if he was just doing it out of boredom, didn’t care much either to learn the mans name, all the Fae wanted was to get his point across and he had done that. Any talk now was just to keep up appearances, to stop his guard getting suspicious about the silence and thinking it best to take him away or back underground. Maybe Sage knew that, Zack could sort of see the other was a bit wary as he handed over more daisies like he didn’t quite believe the situation could change so quickly.
“That’s nice.” Zack replied though the remark was anything but genuine, he still didn’t think it was a good enough excuse to be picking them. Used to implied she wasn’t around to do it with him or send to anymore, so what was the point? Some people live in the past too much was Zack’s opinion of him now. Though he wasn’t sure either how he felt about being compared to this dudes sibling he was chasing to not be too much of an arse about it, keeping up appearances again and so just chuckled faintly.
At this point he was blanking any comparison he had to this other residents life, truth was he did use to grow flowers specifically to make them into things like bracelets for his sister. She couldn’t really make them back but that had never mattered.
“Only with those that asked.” he replied simply, the flowers that is. Some want to be put to use. “My wife might appreciate one made from these.” Usually he would not bring Caro into this but the more that knew they were an item the better now.

Sage was kind of aware that this conversation wasn't for informative purposes but instead to keep up appearance to that guard. He was still quite tempted to just freak out, scramble back and call the guard over but he doesn't know how quickly this guy can move, he could end up with another blade in him someplace a lot more sensitive or bleedy.. He doesn't want an artery or something being cut just because he freaked out a little. Thankfully his jeans were black, otherwise there'd be an obvious bloody patch on his thigh by now. Sage doesn't have much excess body fat, the teen is a lanky thing, so it probably hurt more than it would have done it he actually ate every meal.
"She died when she was nine," he added with a small frown as he returned to threading another daisy onto the chain he'd began before Zack had come close to him.. The curling spiritual thread that came off of Zack had him all sorts of curious, but he's not the type of person to pry too much, though he did subconsciously reach out with his ability to touch the thread but jerked back with mildly wide eyes at the mental image of an orange eyed girl, "you had a sister?"
Sage wouldn't guess that Zack's a fae.. He doesn't know much about the supernatural world really and so he's not aware of darker fae. He also wouldn't have thought that this guy was married either. Had he captured a wife or something? Not only was he a touch stabby, but Sage was pretty sure that he smelt kind of bad too. The guy needed a shower. Or a powerhosing. The ectomancer reached down to his side to pick up the smaller little bracelet chains he'd made along with the random long chain he'd made for no reason and he held it out to Zack hesitantly, "you can use these.. Intertwine them or something for her?" If she even exists..
"Flowers can ask..?" That was an afterthought. His first thought was that he was sat with a proper pychopath now. A crazy one. Dammit.

Very little phased Zack, apart from being accused of fathering a baby, apparently… Blood, threats, pain, you might as well ask him about the weather for all the mundane reaction it brought to him. So despite hearing that Sage’s sister died when she was about the same age as his own twin, he didn’t actually react to the info. People had sisters, brothers, mothers and fathers and most here had lost them, it was really nothing to to complain about, if anything you were probably in the minority to have had or still possess a full and happy family unit. Besides, the talk was about Sage’s loss, not his own and so for a moment Zack was calm and too threaded some more daisies.
But then Sage hit the trigger. Zevren had made that mistake and ended up with a knife in his side (and in a roundabout way, a husband so the Fae was of the view the man should thank him now), Zack had no idea how Sage could know about his sister, unless his words were more of a statement rather than a question? Zack couldn’t tell and the other males wide eyed appearance did not help matters. Internally the Fae twitched, all manner of dark thoughts engulfed his brain but he resisted acting on them, well aware of the taser armed guard lurking. “Keep making the chain.” Was his warning. People deserved a warning, he gave Zev a warning to move the questioning on and the man ignored it, but he would give Sage the same grace.
When a smaller bracelet was handing out to him Zack took it, thinking he would weave it with the one he was making. No offence to Caro but she wasn’t a very petite woman, he thought it too small as it was to wear, and he rather fashion it into a necklace for her… It probably show off the form of her chest a bit more, something that also wasn’t very petite.
The mental image caused Zack to grin and then nod at the question, was that so hard to believe? “Of course.” he said simply. “If dead bodies can walk and talk, wolves, lions and bears and speak, why not plants ask for things?” Listing just some of the shifter types he had seen around here. It might not be in a very literal way but to Zack, flowers did indeed ‘talk’.

Sage has never been accused of being all too clever and with the constant mild buzz of alcohol in his system and mildly clouding his mind he didn't really take the warning for what it was. More than anything he thought that Zack just wanted him to continue making daisy chains. But he was running low on daisies now that he'd handed a bunch over to the fae, there was enough left for what was probably only tiny little bracelet. No worries though, he picked up a few and started threading them, doing as he was told because otherwise he could very well get stabbed again.
"She looked unique too, right? Those eyes.." He smiled somewhat, his attention mostly on the daisies at this point. He enjoys talking about his sister, she'd been with him for years after her death though, keeping her drunken brother company and keeping him sane (or so he thought) for years, watching him age whilst she stayed eternally nine years of age. It's his opinion that speaking of the dead keeps them alive, and so he'd just figured that it'd be the same for Zack, "but then yours are purple.. I thought I saw gold at first, but they were orange, right? How.. How old was she?" When she died. That went without saying.
Sage was trying to control his ability, he'd never really sat close by to somebody without activating those spiritual threads with his power. It's not always something he can help, but he was holding himself in check somewhat. So there was no little girl present, just the possibility of her being there.. He could yank her out of whatever peace she'd found if he tried. He knew he could. But he wouldn't, because they don't always find their way back again.
Sage thought the grin was a kind of 'thanks' for him handing him those daisies and so his own little smile got a little more confident.. Maybe this guy just needed to establish early dominance, Sage can kind of understand that. The cut to his leg stung but it wasn't too bad, nothing that wouldn't heal quickly anyway. It was no worse than having a failing organ anyway, everything in perspective.
"That's a point.. And I can see, call upon and chat to dead people so, I suppose it's not too much of a jump," he chewed his lower lip thoughtfully for a moment, "so.. That's why you were pissed about the daisies? I didn't know they were kind of sentient.."

It seemed the warning was either being ignored or had been misunderstood, not that simple misunderstanding would get Sage completely out of trouble, Zack didn’t think it was his fault that this other resident was ignorant. Hearing more things about his deceased twin spoken when Zack had no idea how the other could possible know was only adding to the list of crimes, and if he ever found out Sage was doing this knowingly, well… Inwardly Zack twitched again and tried to keep it in mind that this slightly booze-smelling resident was just plain stupid, stupidity was saving him from a knife in his neck. Only for now. Later, Zack would remember all this, payback did not have to be immediate when a greater apology could be forced when there was no guard present. For a time, Sage better sleep with eyes open.
So he did not reply to the age question, only frowned and kept making a necklace. Caro, would she help in this? In punishing Sage somehow, that is. it seemed like this needed to be a tag team effort and possibly a good couples activity to mend whatever bond he supposedly broke while not himself. Bite him, turn him, kill him… Wasn’t as if Zack really cared. Of course he still give the daisy chain, a victim would just be an added bonus.
But then some clarity came, apparently Sage could talk to ghosts. It caused Zack to pause and glance around himself. He knew people had weird gifts, knew that some could indeed talk to those who are actually dead but this was the first time he had met such a person, and he supposed he was lucky to not actually be a murderer or perhaps this would be more crowded around here than he realised. Still, Sage was going to be shedding more blood soon, Zack hated to think his twin was being gawped at or pulled out from whatever peace she found because of this guy.
“Everything living has some kind of sentience.” Zack replied thoughtfully, “If everything should be allowed to keep it, is another matter.” His smile stayed but it held a more disturbed quality, mainly as Zack was a bit disturbed but right now he was also fully thinking he had the right to judge, and his judgement was these flowers held more rights than the person he was speaking to.

It was definitely misunderstood but as Zack failed to respond other than that frown Sage didn't really think that this was something that he should be pushing on. Was the death a recent one maybe.. Perhaps that was why the guy didn't want to talk about it, perhaps it hurt too much for him still? Sage chewed on his lower lip as he watched the pointy eared guy just get on with making his chain. He kind of wanted to ask what species the guy was, it isn't like he meets very many people who look so inhuman as Zack does.. Vampires just have fangs and the animals around here just kind of look like actual animals. It's all kind of movie inspired.
"Are you an elf?" He asked suddenly. More blurted out than anything actually to break the sudden awkward silence that he was feeling. An Elf. Like in the lord of the rings, it was the only thing that he could think of .. Even in the avengers there was a pointy eared elf.. But he was a dark elf. Kind of evi- oh fuck. Sage's fingers stopped halfway through threading the daisy he was on so he could subconsciously move an inch away from Zack. He could be one of those evil little dark elves.. But then, did they like flowers?
People need to wear badges because this was ridiculous.
"Don't worry.. She's not here right now, but if you ever do want to speak to her again.. Or maybe see her, if I have the energy to spare, then that's something I can do," he tried to sound nonchalant but he was quite pleased that he could control his abilities to the extreme that he does now, "she won't be alive, course.. Just, it can be nice sometimes. To say goodbye. Or hello again.. Or just hear their voice, y'know?" He can't call his own sister back to him, for some reason those with a connection to him can't be called upon and he can't understand why. It frustrates him every single day.
"But I guess.. Does that include fruits and vegetables and stuff too? 'Cause, like, they don't have souls, 'cause I'd see them, but.." He couldn't help but smile a little at the thought of ghost carrots and apples just rolling around like a haunted rabbit house of horrors, "sentience of some sort.. Kinda makes sense." He wanted to crawl away from Zack now. Everything was making him feel a little awkward about this guy. That smile did not seem very friendly and he subconsciously called out for Ade to return to him now, a silent pull that the guy could ignore if he so wished but Sage hoped to hell he didn't. He could use his restraining abilities if Zack decided that he wanted to take up skinning as a hobby or something.
Creepy smiles whilst playing with daisies. It was just all sorts of messed up.

Elf? Zack didn’t know where that question came from or if to be insulted or not but supposed he had been called far worse and so just shook his head a little. “No, I am not an elf.” Possibly he was in the greater family of general elvin type creatures, sharing some ancestry with them but elves and fairies were otherwise two distinct creatures, no more similar than werewolves or werecats are. Anyway, if it kept this guys mind on other things Zack was open to allow some questioning about himself, as long as it did stay on himself and not his family. For Sage’s own wellbeing…
But warnings went unheard or ignored and with each word the resident added to the reasons why his death sentence would be valid.
A sane person might jump at the chance to see a loved one or long lost relative again particularly a sibling but Zack had clearly already shown he possessed anything but sanity. So the offer to see his twin again was mostly ignored, heard and noted, but the ‘kindness’ twisted and soon to be throw right back at Sage in the harshest way possible. "No." was the most restrained response he gave. Zack had planned to simply torment this drunk and maybe get Caro involved but now he was inclined to just let the woman have him to do as she pleased. She would ultimately get more out of it was his logic and Zack would be satisfied knowing Sage would be hurt.
Rolling his eyes slightly Zack tried to not be too harsh about all the stupid that was flowing out the others mouth, but really, carrot souls? That was idiotic to even contemplate. “You think too literally.” Zack said as he slide his daisy necklace around his neck and then rested his hands on his knees. “Energy. That might be a better term to use.” Everything had an energy, carnivores consume it by eating meat to keep their own going, herbivores by eating plants, or thats how it should be. Sage picking plants and doing little to nothing with the wasted energy was what had annoyed Zack. It is why any destroyed wildlife or nature annoyed him, it was just an insult to his species which lived on an in the place. Like a stranger stomping through your home in muddy boots or shitting on your doorstep.
“Want to go for a walk?” he asked as he got to his feet. Zack was ignoring his guard now and just assumed he be allowed since so far he was ‘behaving’.
Zack didn’t really want to walk though, he wanted to get Sage alone… his guard distracted amongst the flowers, to wrap his arm around the dude’s neck and chock him until he thought he was a ghost. If Sage wasn’t so skinny it likely would not be possible, Zack might be strong in magic and insanity but physically he was no stronger than any other human.

He's not an elf.. Sage waited a few moments to see if he was actually going to explain what he was but no explanation came. But he wasn't an elf. The ectomancer couldn't think of anything else that had pointed ears, other than fairies, but Zack didn't have wings and was normal sized.. He was feeling a bit like he was missing something here but he didn't want to question too much on the same subject if this guy didn't seem particularly chatty about it. Not that the drunk could see why talking about their species was so difficult, "okay.. Not an elf." He couldn't help but let his gaze linger on the guy's ears again though. Was it weird that he wanted to touch one? It was weird. He'd keep his hands to himself, Sage doesn't particularly want to be cut again.
He felt very much like he was treading on eggshells right now.
Sage's smile faded a little at the abrupt 'no' and he averted his gaze awkwardly and paid perhaps a little too much attention to threading the last couple of daisies together. Usually he found it easy to chat away to people but this conversation was making him feel like a dumbass kid who was rubbing on somebody's last nerve. It made him want to have a drink but the flask in his pocket had ran empty and he wasn't quite sure where he could get some more right now. He could only hope that the somewhat annoying spirit he called his best friend was on his way, he'd know at least what to say in this situation.. Or he'd be entirely unhelpful. Either way, it was better not to feel alone.
"That's no problem either.. I mean, not everybody's cup of tea. But, ever change your mind just let me know, it's not hard for me so.." Whenever, if ever.
Anyway, moving the conversation on, "energy makes a lot more sense," he forced another slight smile and fiddled with his final chain to get it fixed around his wrist delicately, "I won't pluck anymore daisies anytime soon then, I guess. They don't really teach stuff like that," not that he went to school at all growing up, "you're some kind of nature based guy then? I'm just human, with extra gifts, nothing to brag 'bout." Humans suck. Sage can't say he's liked many human beings he met in the world, but then his mother hadn't ran with the nicest of groups.
He blinked and looked up at Zack when he stood, "uh.. Sure?" They were done with the daisies so why the hell not? Sage got to his feet awkwardly, his leg twinged a little but it wasn't debillitating. The ectomancer glanced at the guard and gave a slight smile before he turned to gesture to the 'not elf', "if you like flowers the groundskeepers were working on a bed over this way the other day.. They usually do awesome work."
And he'd walk on ahead of Zack to show him the way and just assume that the guy was following him.

If his guard was listening to the conversation then they might have known that quite a few of Zack’s trigger subjects and words had been mentioned, but it seemed either they hadn’t heard or just were not really paying full attention or surely they would have acted. Zack took it as another sign that he can’t be held responsible for any actions that might follow now, he had been here long enough for everyone to know what he was like and especially what he disliked. If Sage got hurt then it was on the guards as much as the drunk himself for not getting the hints. A small shake of his head once again showed Zack was not going to be taking up the ectomancer’s offer, nor would anyone else for that matter if the Fae had his way.
Nature guy was simplifying things a bit but Zack wasn’t going to educate Sage as to what he is, his mind was rather too full of how he wanted to torture the man who just admitted to being very human. Zack guessed that meant he might have to show some restraint… How boring. As violent as he could be, the Fae slightly prided himself on the fact he had not actually killed anyone before. In his warped mind it was a fact that made him better than a lot of others here, he had control over his temper and violence. “Humans can be a bit blind to things.” Zack said and meeting Sage had done little to change his view on that, “Can’t be taught something that most refuse to believe is possible.” This wasn’t forgiveness though, just stating a fact.
Following on after Sage, Zack kept a neutral smile to his face. He was aware the guard would be following and so he needed to act fast, get Sage down, get him turned over… Glancing to the bed that the other pointed out Zack came up alongside Sage as they got nearer and looked it over with a growing smile, then shoved him face first down into it.
“You do not talk to her, do you understand? You don’t even look at her or mention her. You sure as fuck are not going to touch her do bring her out from whatever world of quiet and peace she has gone into or so help me goddess I will fucking send you there, and it won’t be quickly.”
Zack’s hands were finding there way around Sage’s neck at this point but he was ready to grab the guy and use him as a human shield should his guard get any ideas to use his taser.
