"If you were me you'd know...but you're not, so don't think you do." Bael wasn't quite at the age where he would consider Hyzenthlay as anything more than a sister. The idea of having a family that cared was more than enough for him. The unicorn was not only his best friend in the whole wide world but also one of the few people he trusted to share things with. Things like his darkest secrets. He could tell her about how his home life had been. How he'd met Daisy and Lyss and thought them to be good people. He could tell her about anything and not worry about her turning her back on him. He appreciated that she made him feel comfortable in his own skin. No sense in being cold-hearted around her. How could he when she was always smiling and full of joy? It made him want to do the same. To just be happy in her presence.
The brown haired ten year old stuck out his tongue and made a face. "Eww. Yuck! That sounds even worse." He was still laughing as he spoke. Mashed spinach? What kind of madness was that? "Do you even have taste buds," he asked with a raised brow, convinced that Hyze had no sense of taste if she enjoyed things like spinach. He couldn't wrap his head around it. Admittedly Bael didn't do much running. Most of the time he just rode Alistair everywhere he went. It was showing as he found himself gasping for air as he tried to catch up with his friend. How was she running so fast? When Hyzenthlay took a nosedive, Bael skid to a stop. "Hyze! Are you okay!?" He hurried over to her, holding out his hand as she began to get up. "That looks bad. Maybe we should take you to the nurse or something."
"I can't drown my demons, they know how to swim."
