If there was one person she wasn’t worried about trying to control her, it was the guard with her right now. She might not know him very well, but everything she’d heard about him suggested he was someone who took his job seriously and didn’t abuse residents. As long as she didn’t completely go haywire around him, she was ok she figured. And Kaia definitely wouldn’t, unless she was cooling off in the lake and was tried to leave when she’d been told not to. But then, that would be on her. The lake was a blessing in the summer because the pool wasn’t really that cold. “Good to know,” she replied when he commented on not worrying about being controlled. She didn’t want to have to worry about that on top of having a master and everything else. It was a bad enough that she needed to be sure that she had a good master so she wouldn’t be abused by the assholes in here. At least Oz seemed like a good thing. What else could she do? Now that was a good question. A decent one even. “Dreamwalking is fun, but I’m guessing that’s not what you had in mind,” she said, chuckling slightly. Instead, she decided to show him her hydrokinesis without getting him wet or disturbing the water underneath him. Pulling herself together in a canine shape, she danced across the surface of the water, creating little patches of ice where she landed. This was a dance she was good at. Doing a little twirl, she created an icy wolf on the surface before she pulled her human form together again and sat on the water. “Water is fun,” she said, grinning at him. She could do this all day.

Fabian had head of dream walking, he saw it written on Mel’s profile as something she was capable of but he did not know what exactly the ability involved. He assumed it meant entering a persons head while they slept and seeing what they saw whilst dreaming, which could be a whole lot of bizarre nothing, unless the gift meant you can influence what is dreamt too. Either way, Fabian was not overly concerned, they kept residents in separate rooms for a reason and so he couldn’t think Mel would get to exercise that ability too often unless she came across a resident snoozing in the grounds.
But no, Fabian had been referring to her water ability and still hoped he didn’t regret asking her, though if she did show off a bit too much he was confident he could contain it. Luckily he didn’t have to and what she did was something he admittedly would not have guessed despite being told a moment ago she was mostly water. People making watery or icy wolves was one thing but pulling yourself into one was something else entirely, call the guard impressed and Fabian turned on the surface to watch as Mel danced around.
“Impressive.” Fabian said, having no problem giving compliments where they were due. Looking to the water ball he had created Fabian let it drop back into the pool and glanced to Mel, mostly just wondering if there was any other way he could exhaust her while they were here. Having a water fight entered his mind but he wasn’t sure it was a good idea or if ‘fight’ was a good word to use, but being that he couldn’t think of anything else, that was what he went with. “Up for a small water fight?” he asked.

Mel was kind of hoping Oz would summon her and ask her to help him dream nice things. He was the first person in a long time she had not only wanted as her master, and therefore trusted he wouldn’t abuse her, but also wanted to make him happy. Even if it was just for a little while at a time. The vampire deserved good things after all. She wanted to help with that if she could because nobody deserved to be that miserable all the time. It was fun getting to play win the pool with no worry about repercussions. She wasn’t going to get in trouble for showing off a little and just having fun with it. Probably the only reason she decided to pull herself together into a canine form was because this guy was a wolf though. Didn’t matter, she was having fun, that was the most important thing. “Thank you,” she replied, grinning at him. She had only heard about the head guard from other residents and she’d heard most of the senior guards were hard to impress, so it made her feel all funny getting a compliment for her control over her element like that instead of a scalding. Ooh! Water fight? That sounded right up her alley. “Need some ground rules, or you better prepare to lose,” she replied, looking forward to just playing some more really. She was only halfway teasing him, because she was pretty sure she would win. Even if it was just a friendly game.

Fabian had a small worry he might regret asking Mel for a water fight but being the type of person he was, he wouldn’t ask if the thought the danger was too great, so Mel could be comforted to know the guard was placing a fair amount of trust in her with the offer. She needed to tire herself out and Fabian wouldn’t mind a chance to unwind either after the earlier fight and although throwing water around might not be most peoples idea of relaxing, it worked for both of them.
But yes, rules and there were only a few Fabian could really think of as being needed. So after giving Mel a list frown to the assumption he was going to lose without them, he folded his arms lightly. “No tricks that can damage the pool house. Nothing underwater.” The first rule he hoped was self explanatory but the second was as he couldn’t breath underwater so if Mel dissipated herself into it, that hardly seemed fair.
Moving off the pool Fabian stood to one side so he didn’t have to focus on staying afloat and what skills he might use against Mel. For half an hour at least this seemed like a good way to let of some steam, or for however long until he got radioed to answer the next emergency.

It had never even occurred to her to ask a guard to play with water with her. Which was stupid really, because it seemed like the best idea ever to get to play with her element without getting into trouble. Every day was better when she got to just be herself and be what she was. And not get in trouble for that. If she’d been able to live an entirely solitary life, she probably would’ve just found a remote island and make ice for fun. Do her part to stop polar ice melting, not for the environment, but for fun. Because she’d be excellent at it. “Nothing underwater and no sharp icy objects?” she suggested, figuring he’d appreciate the amendment to the rule he suggested. Sure, it probably went without saying that she shouldn’t make any icy objects that could harm the guard, but it seemed like a good thing to let him know that too ahead of time. She needed him to trust her that she would at the very least behave herself for pool time. Playing with water was always fun and Mel was standing on her side of the pool moving it about without moving her hands, using her hands only to deflect incoming water.
