life is never easy It has been few months since the force feedings and refusing the staff to help. Finally Kiba was allowed to leave the medical ward, he still refused to join the pack and allow the wolf side to come out. He hasn't shifted since the force feeding as he blamed this side for messing things up with Cairo and even gotten him hurt in the first place. He kept himself to himself not mixing with others as he didn’t want to hurt them either.
He was beginning to get used to being alone and believed it was better for him. He checked the playground was empty and he went to the grounds and started to swing on the swings a bit. His body physique was getting better and back to healthy weight, but his mental development was lacking for his age. Speech was another thing he rarely do now, as he believed his words get others hurt too.
Kiba doesn’t have the usual written skills for his age as he refused to go to the classes. There was one class he always went to, but since the falling out (and he began to see it was his fault) he hasn't gone. He was still getting used to the whole clothering thing, and since he was alone he took the clothes he had off and felt a lot more comfortable like this. Even though he always get a telling off, he still does it. Since he doesn’t hurt anyone and wasn’t ashamed of it either.
Older Kiba but still hint of trouble ♡

"If you were me you'd know...but you're not, so don't think you do." Bael gathered his things and placed them inside of his bag as the class ended. The brown haired boy waved goodbye to the teacher and a few of his classmates before heading outside. He shielded his face from the sun and crossed the grounds to the youth wing so that he could finally go play on the swings and slides located in the playground. He'd briefly considered dropping his bags in his room, but he had Mr. Teddy in there and he'd rather not leave his favorite and only bear in the whole wide world locked away in his room. That and Bael had a fourth of a cake wrapped up in his bag. His birthday had been yesterday and Mr. Cairo had helped him bake a cake. Bael had shared with the class, dropped a slice off at Daisy's desk and Lyss's desk and then he'd left one by Hyze's door because he couldn't find her for the life of him. He supposed she was in class or learning unicorn stuff from Alaric.
The rest of the cake he intended to eat by himself, but plans changed as he spotted a lonely looking kid out on the swings. Bael made his way over. "Hey, you're Kiba right?" He couldn't recall having a conversation with the wolf shifter, but he'd seen the other around quite a bit, mainly in Cairo's class in his wolf form, but that seemed to have stopped abruptly earlier this year. Bael hadn't questioned it. "Do you like cake," he asked as he dropped his bag next to the swing and pulled out the slice that was sitting on a paper plate wrapped up nice and safe. "We can share this if you like." He walked a bit closer. "I'm Bael by the way."
The young Demonkeeper had started branching out a bit more, learning to trusts others and attempt to make friends instead of pushing people away. Making friends with other kids had been a real struggle with Bael over the years, but he was finally getting past that. He was quite pleased with the progress he'd been making himself.

Kiba was still swinging on the swings alone more. He enjoyed the company of his own even though his development was suffering from it. Kiba didn't really knew any different since he was always bullied in his birth pack. He wasn't fully wanted there and that something he didn't want to admit. He was so depressed and his spirit was basically crush as he have given on everything. He didn't take classes which he was told to go. He didn't play with the toys which were given to him, in fact he kept them in his bag in the corner of his room. Suddenly he snapped out of his thoughts as a young kid came towards him.
Kiba didn't know this kid or why he was here offering him something. It was really strange to him. Still he didn't do anything bad, as he remembered what happens if he did. He would be placed in the quiet room to remain and not talk about it. He signed and slowly started to answer him. "no thank you I don't eat cake. I am not allowed to eat things like that. I have to eat horrible stuff first" he replied back to the boy. "yes my name is Kiba, why do you want to know?" he asked as he was really curious on that question as he didn't know why he would want to know his name.
"hello bael. It's nice to meet you" he was trying to be nice, it was hard for him to do since he never knew how too. He was worried he would hurt him like everyone in this place. He made a vow to be alone, it was easier this way. "you should go I am not safe to be around with" he said to him, as he swung on the swing some more.

"If you were me you'd know...but you're not, so don't think you do." Bael was a bit shocked by Kiba's rejection of the cake. He hadn't met a lot of kids around here, but everyone seemed to have some sort of sweet tooth. He gave a small dismissive shrug. "Okay, I'll save a small piece in case you change your mind." Bael took the plastic knife he'd been given and split the cake in half for the last time and wrapped the remains up. "I guess you mean veggies by horrible stuff," he said with a small smile. It used to be rare for him to smile, nowadays, not so much. "They're not all that bad if you eat them with cheese," he suggested. "I like broccoli with cheese, but mashed potatoes are really good. Asparagus, not so much, even with cheese." Bael crossed his arms behind his head. "Seriously though, one piece of cake isn't going to spoil your appetite."
He pointed at the other swing. "Mind if I swing a bit." He'd come out here to play anyway. Kiba's curiosity was a bit amusing. "I was just making sure it was you. I remember you from Mr. Cairo's class, but you were usually in your wolf form." He wasn't going to ask the details of why Kiba had stopped showing up though. "Anyway, I was coming out here to play a bit when I saw you sitting by yourself. I thought I'd come to say hi. Two is better than one."
Bael frowned a bit as Kiba told him he should leave. He bit the inside of his cheek lightly as he took a second to choose his words carefully. "Thanks for the concern, but my familiars aren't going to let you hurt me." He sat on the other swing. "And for the record, if you were one of the bad residents, you wouldn't be out here without a guard." He started to swing. "So you're not that dangerous." He wasn't belittling Kiba, just stating that the guy was making himself out to be more than he was. Bael didn't have a clue what Kiba's deal was, but he knew that being alone sucked, so he wasn't about to abandon the older male.

Kiba was trying his best not to be mean. It was so hard when he spent most of his life pushing people away. He didn’t do classes anymore because of it, his spirit have been broken and snapped in half. He doesn’t want anything, death couldn’t come sooner for him. He ruined everyone’s life he was damaged goods. “No I eat the vegetables, they keep trying to get meat in me but I don’t want it. Eating animals is wrong” he always believe this.
“I don’t want anything. I just want to be left alone. Everyone keeps” he just stopped talking about that. He didn’t want to say anything as it always come and bit him on the arse. He shrugged as he couldn’t stop him anyway, it wasn’t like he controlled everything here. “I don’t owe them or can stop you. Do what you want” he dragged his feet against the concrete some more, causing his toes to bleed. “I don’t go anymore. Not after I done and destroyed him like everything I touch. I just avoid others now, it better for them” he got off the swings as he walked away. “Trust me you don’t want to be around me… I prefer to be alone”
“I always fool the guards. I am always escaping from this place. But they have broken me, I am never leaving this place. Not until I am dead. Trust me kid, ask Cario why you should avoid me, I am a bad omen” he said and walked away more.

"If you were me you'd know...but you're not, so don't think you do." Bael had met some really nasty people in his life, Kiba wasn't one of them. The demonkeeper wouldn't have classified the wolf shifter as such, no matter how horrible Kiba thought himself to be. Mean people were the ones who abandoned their kids or threw rocks at you while you were playing on the playground by yourself. Mean people were the ones that purposely hurt you, not by accident. Besides, Kiba hadn't exactly done anything to hurt him. If anything, the guy had warned him, and that was a far cry from being bad.
The smaller boy blinked in obvious confusion as Kiba explained that he didn't eat meat. "Um, not to be that guy, but I'm going to be that guy. You do know that you're a wolf right? I mean, I've heard some crazy things around here, but that is by far the craziest." He crossed his arms behind his head. "What kind of wolf doesn't eat meat? No wonder you're so skinny." He shook his head. "I mean, it's part of your nature. Have you never watched a documentary on wolves before? You've got a whole mouth full of teeth for ripping and tearing as a wolf." Bael was clearly flabbergastered. The ten year old boy didn't consider himself highly educated by any means, but he knew that wolves ate meat!
Kiba's reluctance to his company was a bit off-putting, but Bael wasn't going to just abandon the playground because Kiba was being mopey. The older boy was right, he didn't own the playground. If anything, Bael would just play on the slide or the jungle gym until Kiba moved off the swings. Since Kiba told him to whatever he pleased, he sat in one of the chairs and happily started to swing back and forth. "Mr. Cairo looks fine to me," Bael commented. "Guess you didn't destroy him too much." Bael's nonchalant attitude was partly thanks to having dealt with Salem. Nothing was worse than Salem in his eyes. "By the way, you should stop dragging your feet, you're going to mess them up. The medical staff won't like it if they get infected." He'd heard them use the word when he'd scraped his knee. They had fused and complained and told him to be more careful when playing before ruffling his hair and saying 'boys will be boys.'
"I'm not a kid," Bael said a bit pointedly. "You're not much older than me." Bael was ten and he was guessing that Kiba was probably two or three years older than him. That would make the other boy a teenager. It was a bit strange to have a conversation with a teenager when he thought about it. "Have you tried not fooling the guards and not trying to run away?" Bael frowned. Kiba wasn't making any sense. "You sure are making your life a lot harder than it has to be. Kind of like when you watch tv and they go, 'It's not you, it's me.'" Bael gave a small snicker at the comparison, but it was cut short as Kiba claimed himself a bad omen. Bael leaned forward on the swing. "You sound more like a trouble maker than a bad omen," he challenged. Maybe he shouldn't be taunting Kiba, but the guy was all bark and no bite. He was convinced that Kiba was broken in the brain above all else.

But music is reflection of self, we just explain it, and then we get our checks in the mail Kiba didn’t care about the lecture. The staff have tried to tell him about the whole meat thing. He even had his therapist telling him this every single time. It wasn’t going to change his views, ever. He rocked back and forth on the swing allowing his toes to scratched against the concrete. It didn’t hurt or that he cared about the wounds. He can heal, it rarely get infected due to the fact that he never had an infection it his life. “I survived this long without the whole meat thing haven’t I? So you're wrong that I need to eat meat. It’s wrong eating animals. The animals are my friends, the only friends I have in this stinking place. They don’t try to change me, not like the staff here. I am different and no one likes me” he kept his head down. “I can’t get infections. My wounds would heal before infection gets the chance to settle into it. One of the perks of being a shifter I guess.
“I have messed him up. I messed everyone up who as comes closer to me. I ruined everything. I had the chance to have a loving family, and I blew it. I should have died along with my pack. Being alive is punishment, and I just wished I was dead just like my family” he let a single tear fall. “They broken my spirited. There is nothing life of me for them to break anymore, only I know I am not getting out of here. You will, but I am not going to get out of here. I am not going to classes, there is no need for them for wolves. I have nothing here” he signed and pushed himself forward more. “Why did you celebrate your birthday in here for anyway. The staff are not your friends you know. They all fake, every single one of them. They more likely talk about you when they knocked off for the day. Didn’t you know that?” he asked him.
“Yes I did. I haven’t fully given up on the though. I would always want to be free. But right now I am not allowed outside unless there is a guard with me. Its so annoying, I hate having guards with me every single time, but I would get away from them. I always does” he said as he rocked more.

"If you were me you'd know...but you're not, so don't think you do." Bael gave the older male a quizzical look. Kiba may have been standing right before him, very much alive, but not well in the least. "Yeah, animals are my friends too, but that isn't going to stop me from eating a steak. You have sharp teeth for a reason and so do I." He pointed at his incisors. Every human had them. As a child, he would call them his vampire teeth, but then he'd come to Manson and seen what real vampire teeth looked like. "You look like a walking skeleton." The demonkeeper frowned as Kiba talked about how he only had animals to be his friends. "You sound like Snow White," he pointed out. Nova had read him that book multiple times along with a majority of other fairy tales once he'd gotten to Manson. The library was a really nice place to learn at your own pace. Bael rolled his eyes. "Everyone's different here," he objected. "I'm different, you're different, my friend Hyze is different. That's why we're here. No one wants to be the same, that's boring." When Kiba told him that he couldn't get infections, the younger male just shrugged, what else was he supposed to do. He wasn't going to sit here and tell Kiba that scrapping up his toes was bad when the other clearly didn't care.
Again Bael found himself at a loss for words. Talking to Kiba was like talking to a brick wall. All the young boy was hearing was excuses. It was starting to aggravate the small child. Bael had strived to do everything in his power to please his mother and she'd abandoned him. He hadn't known anything about his father until recently and had no way of contacting the man. All Bael wanted was a family and here Kiba was, moaning about how people didn't like him about how he was different and how he messed up every relationship anyone ever tried to build. Bael would have killed to have at least a fraction of what the wolf shifter had. It all honesty, it pissed him off that Kiba was constantly throwing away an opportunity that Bael himself had never been offered.
"You're completely mental," Bael finally said. "You don't just give up when things go bad," Bael told the other. Bael could only imagine where he'd be if he'd given up after his mom had dumped him on the side of the road. If he hadn't actively sought out clues about his father or faced his fears when it came to Salem. Bael would have been miserable. No, everything hadn't been perfect from the start and things weren't perfect now, but they were getting better. That's all he could hope for as a child. Maybe he was too young to fully understand everything Kiba was going through, but his life hadn't been rainbows and butterflies either. Bael had had many nights where he'd cried himself to sleep, where his stomach had growled constantly from hunger, where he'd been cold and tired and felt alone even with his familiars at his side. Bael was ten, he'd been abandoned when he was eight, and before that he'd pretty much fended for himself. His mother hadn't wanted him, hadn't loved him, had probably wished she'd aborted him, but here he was.
"Shut up!" Bael had had enough. "Just stop talking," he snapped. "You don't know what you're talking about." Bael didn't know the difference between were's and shifters so he couldn't argue, but he'd point out that Kiba was a human right now and that was proof enough to get his shit together. "Just because you're all sad here doesn't mean everyone else feels the same. I like the staff, Miss Daisy and Mr. Lyss are nice to me and so is Mr. Cairo. If they were being fake then Mr. Cairo wouldn't have helped me with my birthday and Miss Daisy wouldn't have shared her ice cream and Mr. Lyss wouldn't have stayed with me when I was scared. And Mr. Kelly wouldn't have talked to me when I was by myself and the security guard wouldn't have saved me from Phobia. Maybe no one likes you because you won't let them!" Bael could understand that much. He hadn't been willing to let people in for a long time, but he'd changed some and finally accepted that not everyone was going to hurt him. "Saying sorry goes a long way but nooooo, you want to sit on a swing and starve and act like the world is against you when you're the problem! If you want to die so badly then stop starving yourself and just die!"
The moment the words left his mouth he felt bad about it. He placed his hands over his mouth in shock. He lowered them slowly, panting from his winded outburst. "I didn't mean that," he said quickly. "I'm sorry." Bael lowered his gaze. He really hadn't, but if he were to go back in time, the words would have come out the same. Bael hadn't appreciated Kiba dissing the staff when they'd done Bael a great service. He was a bit touchy in that regard. With that being said, he no longer wished to play with Kiba. He hadn't come out here to play therapist, he'd come out here to make a friend. That seemed like a far off thought now. The poor kid didn't know whether to be upset or guilty. Maybe a little bit of both.
"I can't drown my demons, they know how to swim."

But music is reflection of self, we just explain it, and then we get our checks in the mail Kiba never knew about fairy tales. He wasn’t much of book reader, since he lived most of his life in the wild. He missed his alpha so much, and he refused to allow another alpha to take his place in his heart. He wouldn’t betray him like that. Even though he was able to join another pack and still be faithful to his old alpha, he just refused to listen to that. He still fought with the staff every step of the way. So far few of given up on him, but the alpha’s haven’t, they just rescirted his outings. They might have broken his spirit to be free, but he wouldn’t allow them in. He wouldn’t talk about the abuse he suffered. To become a killer. Force to tear innocents apart, he wouldn’t talk about it. He watched the pack tear apart his alpha (which he thought) and killed him.
“Who the hell is snow white?” He asked as he had never heard of this name. “No one is going to change the way I am. Many have tried and failed. I am thriving on my diet. If you look at wild wolves, they don’t just eat meat, they eat berries and roots too” he was stupid as he saw his old alpha do this once, and didn’t change his behaviour like everyone here did. “My old alpha accepted me the way I am. More than anyone have done here” socialising with others was never easy for him. He couldn’t trust others that easily, due to them pretending to like him. They would lie to him and then push him down. So he brought himself and not allow others in, he wanted to avoid others as it was better for them. He couldn’t hurt them. There was always way for injury.
“No I wouldn’t let them in. I am not allowing anyone in again. I was a fool to allow someone in my heart, and I almost got that person killed. He might have protected me too, but he shouldn’t have. The doctor here shouldn;t have saved my pathetic life. I shouldn’t even been here” he yelled back. “My kind are rare. I was stolen from my pack and saw were my brothers. WE were taken to a place for humans to look at us. They died there, as I failed to protect and get them out. So I am the omen of death. If you care about your life I would get yourself check out in the medical ward, as death might come collecting your soul”, he growled. “Also I tried to kill myself. But again the staff wouldn’t allow it. I was strapped to avoid hurting myself. So sorry that plan have been tried and failed”
Kiba moved from the swings and was heading the slide to be away from the brat. He heard him saying he didn’t mean it. Kiba rolled his eyes, as he heard this excuse before and he wasn’t going to believe him. His alpha always told him ‘the truth always come out when your angry’ so he believed this kid speaks the truth, and to avoid a fight. As he didn’t want to do it anymore, he separated himself from the kid.

"If you were me you'd know...but you're not, so don't think you do." Bael looked up at Kiba. "She's a really pretty lady that spent all her time with animals. She could talk to them," he explained. "The Evil Queen didn't like her though because she wanted to be the prettiest in all the land. So she tried to kill her, but Snow White defeated her. If you don't like reading there's a movie." The younger of the two boys was trying to be patient with Kiba, but it was becoming apparent that he didn't want to be around the guy. It wasn't that Kiba was wild, he could deal with that, it was the fact that Kiba was just downright weird. Weird was okay with Bael, they were all weird, but Kiba was on a whole different level. Bael knew he wasn't the most well put together kid on the block, but when it came to time to fitting in at least he tried. To him, it seemed like Kiba was just outright rejecting every instance to fit in.
"....Pretty sure they eat meat at some point...." Bael muttered. He placed his hands in his pocket. The demonkeeper was hardly in a position to play counselor for Kiba, so he did what any normal ten year old would do. "Yeah, okay mate." He didn't believe a word Kiba was saying. Bael didn't like liars and he was painting a nice little picture of Kiba being the posture child. Manson punished people when they had to, not for fun. Bael had been in trouble before. He'd skipped classes when he'd first gotten here, stolen a lot more than he did these days, and once he'd purposely gotten in trouble just to land himself in the secure facility. Bael had been here two years now and he'd changed, but he was still the same person.
After a while Bael began to tune Kiba out, listening to bits and pieces of the words the boy was saying. He was more focused on swinging at this point. "Okay," was all he said when Kiba had told him to go to the medical ward to get checked over. He would not. He was sorry that Kiba had been kidnapped, but he couldn't be bothered to listen to a sob story when he'd already heard enough.
Once Kiba started to walk away, Bael hoped off the swings. He was going inside. He would much rather do that than be trapped on the playground with the shifter. "Hope you feel better," he called over his shoulder as he waved goodbye without turning around. He opened the door to the dormitory and disappeared indoors. He was going to watch tv until it was bedtime.
"I can't drown my demons, they know how to swim."
