It was the day after his tumble from the workshop roof and his body was still healing. Which meant that the young adult male sat in the chair in the corner of the patio had a thick bandage wrapped around the foot propped up on the small wall and another wrapped around his wrist. It meant that the guard watching over him wasn't really paying much attention. They knew that Kole wouldn't be going anywhere anytime soon, they know the leopard shifter is worried about permanently maiming himself accidentally. Plus they'd shot him up with enough sedatives to keep him calm enough that he'd even laughed earlier at a couple of things the non-funny guard had spoken. He just didn't care very much right now.
Even now he reached out with his good hand to let the ends of his fingers just about brush over the soft petals of a flower. The scent of the area seemed to permeate every one of his senses, though there was the telltale smell of cigarettes on the air. But, it was something that he was used too considering who was his assigned guard, so he had nothing to bitch and moan about right now, not that he wanted too right now.
If that stupid miniature cat came along not (Ella) he might even just laugh at her too. Mostly because she's a domestic house cat with an attitude and he finds that hilarious right now.
Kole leant back on his chair, the front legs of the thing lifted from the paved flooring but he wasn't too worried about his balance. He had epic balance. He was extremely sure of himself. So, when he lost that balance and his chair went beyond the tipping point, arms windmilled and he let out an 'ohshit' before he went tumbling backwards onto the floor with a thump. Well, damn.

The last time he'd visited the patio he had met a female vampire who'd been as new to the undead life as he was to living a human one. They'd talked a while and Cato had listed her as a decent person in his book by the time they'd parted ways. That had been a few weeks back. He'd passed by again on several occasions, but he'd never stopped to see who was hanging around the area. He'd been assured that he was free to chat up just about anyone on the grounds without too much precaution, but he usually only passed by because he was coming from the forest. He very much enjoyed that part of Manson. There were so many places to explore under the trees and several spots for excellent hunting.
Today he had run in the forest, but instead of stashing his bag in a public area like the previous times, he decided to dress in the forest. It was daylight after all and Cato was a modest man. Dressed in a dark blue hoodie and gray shorts he headed for the canteen. He was a bit peckish after running around. A good meal was in order. His gaze was directed at the sky, but his nose caught the scent of feline just moments before someone crashed to the floor. He turned his head towards the patio, jogging over to investigate, the scent of leopard clouding his senses. Cato stopped at the steps, his blue eyes looking down at the white haired male.
"Need a hand?" He instantly regretted his words at the sight of the bandages on the other males hand. He hoped the guy didn't take it as some crude joke. He didn't want to ruin his chance to converse with another feline before he'd even had a chance. Cato cleared the steps and held out a hand. Might as well dive right in. If rejections were in order, then so be it.

Obviously there was no pain as he hit the floor, just the annoying jolt of surprise that left him blinking numbly up at the sky above him for all of two seconds. Then the scent of another feline made his nose twitch slightly and he rolled his head on the soft cushioning of his own hair to look over as Cato approached. Luckily for the other shifter his sense of humour was darker than most and so he simply ended up snorting in amusement at the hand comment and he reached up clumsily with his uninjured hand to grab at Cato's and lurch himself up into an awkward sitting position. Because of the chair his legs were still kind of sprawled over the thing, so standing would have been really awkward. He couldn't feel pain so he wasn't quite sure if he'd done any damage but he didn't smell blood so that was a good sign.
"Been given something," he mumbled as an excuse for his obviously less than feline grace, the pale haired male looked back up at Cato as he continued to speak, "stop me from doing something stupid and hurting myself further? Maybe. I don't know.. Who're you?" Politeness wasn't something that he was very good at, but then for Kole that was a pretty polite way to ask for somebody's name. At least he stopped talking then though, instead he was working on manually moving his legs from where they were still looped over the chair. He was lifting his legs and moving them with his good arm, a thoughtful frown on his lips when he ended up simply sat there with his legs stretched out in front of him.
He didn't think he could get up from this position.
"Sit." He added a little more quietly as he lifted a hand to probe at the back of his head, simply checking for lumps, "don't like people towering over me." Which is why he's usually perched someplace higher than the rest of the people around, in a tree, or on the roof of the workshop. Like any other cat he prefers to be able to see what's going on around him.

The tension of anticipation disappeared as Kole gave an amused snort. It made Cato smile just a bit. So he was still in the leopard's good graces. The blue eyed male assisted Kole into an upright position. He would have moved the chair, but Kole was talking now. Curiosity was clear on Cato's face as Kole mumbled something about being given something. The jaguar was under the impression that the other male was possibly under the influence of drugs, hopefully medicinal. It was the only reasonable explanation as to what 'been given something,' might mean. As the other elaborated, Cato simply nodded. "Makes sense," he responded. "Cato," he introduced himself.
He stepped back a bit to allow the leopard room to maneuver his legs into a different position. He was half a second too late to ask whether Kole wanted to be helped back into the chair when the other told him to sit. Cato sat automatically. He'd been told to sit so often growing up, that it was second nature, even as a human. He'd positioned himself across from the other, not too close not too far away. "Sorry," he apologized when Kole added that he didn't like people towering over him. Cato could understand his reasoning. He wouldn't want someone hovering over him if he were injured and unable to defend himself.
"What's your name?" He had so many more questions he wanted to ask, but for now he'd mantain his bearings instead of acting like a kitten who'd just been given their first taste of catnip. Cato couldn't really describe how elated he was to be around another feline. It made him want to shift and press up against the other in greeting. He had to remind himself that not everyone was as in tune with their other side as he. Some people wanted to be normal.

Cato. A new feline shifter, or at least one that Kole hadn't come across before. There was one other that he knew of, the woman that he'd bitten himself but he hardly counted her as a feline really.. Or at least, his own inner cat didn't. She was more of a kitten in his eyes, an inexperienced fumbling four animal. He wasn't exactly the nurturing older cat either, he was not going to teach her anything other than a little bit of respect if push came to shove. There was something a little more deeper instilled in this other guy though, a calm that wasn't setting off any alarm bells in his head. That was possibly down to the drugs that coursed through his system, keeping him mellow and really quite unconcerned. Or maybe his cat was done with being lonely. He wouldn't think that would be likely, but he doesn't understand his own leopard.
"Leopard?" he asked nonchalantly, it isn't as if Kole has a lot of experience with other shifters, certainly not enough to have come across a jaguar before. His hand dropped from the back of the head after he was satisfied that there were no bumps forming there. He has a hard head, it's a handy trait considering his sometimes clumsy actions. But then without the fear of pain or injury it's difficult to learn caution.
Cato sat pretty abruptly, it was enough for Kole to watch him for a moment with a growing smile on his lips. He isn't on to take advantage of somebody who's quick to take orders, he knows he's an asshole but he's never been the type to want a lapdog of his own so he wasn't interested in that way. More because it had amused him that he'd done it so quickly. And then he'd apologised. Well, at least this feline understood basic respect, after the little domesticated runt he'd met recently this was a breath of fresh air. He kind of liked this guy.
Possibly, again, because of the drugs.
"Kole," he introduced himself and he held out his bandaged hand to the jaguar, however, he blinked slowly and pulled that back to offer his other hand instead. His brain felt a little like cotton wool right now, which is probably why he went ahead and asked, "what can I do for you?"

He couldn't quite explain the elation of being in the presence of another feline. His entire life he'd know that there were others out there. He'd seen them at the zoo, watched them on the television, and yet he'd never been this close. He'd never been within touching distance. Some part of him had longed for the company of another feline, even if the guy before him was a leopard, some unseen connection had been made. A grand doorway had been opened. The best way he could describe it was there had previously been a weight on his heart, something heavy like loneliness that he'd pushed to the back of his mind all these years. And then he'd come across Kole and that weight had moved up to his throat, lodged there as if he'd swallowed a golf ball, only to finally breathe in fresh air as the guy didn't run him off.
"Jaguar," he responded. He was taking it as though Kole was a leopard since that had been the first inquiry. He placed his hands in his lap, expression a mixture of curiosity and giddiness. He took in a small breath, tasting the air, remembering the scent of leopard. It was different from his own, that was for sure. If he came across another leopard, he'd know without a doubt. He didn't pay any mind to the growing smile on Kole's face. He chalked it up to the other male being pleased with company or maybe something funny had crossed his mind. It didn't occur to him that that something was his own actions.
Kole. Now he had a name, a face, and a scent. "Nice to meet you," the jaguar spoke as he reached out to shake the hand, pausing briefly as Kole realized his mistake, before following through. Cato had the modesty to look a bit sheepish at the question that followed. "I...er, um...." He didn't know how to put it into words. How did he tell a complete stranger that he just wanted to be in his company for a little while? That he'd spent his entire life living with humans as a pet instead of running through the wilds with his own kind? Talking to Zev about it was easy, talking to a fellow resident was harder.
"Do you mind if I hang around for a bit. I don't have have much on my agenda....and I haven't really spent time around other cats." That sounded weird even to him. "If you don't mind that is. I can leave if you like." He was nervous now. Rejection wasn't something Cato worried about, but this was different. This mattered. For the first time, something actually truly mattered. The last thing he wanted to do was screw it up. People made mistakes, he knew that, but second chances weren't always given.

Where Cato is entirely comfortable with his feline side, Kole on the other hand has a hard time accepting that the leopard is as much a part of him as this form he's in right now. In his mind the two are seperate entities that just so happen to share the same body, the only type of understand that he and his leopard have come to is that both of them get to get their own way at the end of the day. So he does live in harmony most of the time. There are even times when he allows the wilder nature within him to win over and rule both forms if he ever just needs to 'hide' away from the world he mostly despises. Kole can't quite let go of the fact that he was dealt a rather bad hand of cards.. So he takes it out on the world and the people in it rather and hides behind the fact that he admits he's a monster.
He can't honestly remember the last time somebody seemed happy to be around him.. That'd make him pause and question Cato's mental state if he were in any particularly clear state of mind right now. But, he wasn't. So instead it just made him and the leopard within him feel relaxed rather than on edge, happy people don't tend to randomly attack. Kole was jut oblivious right now, he denies any particular need or want purely because he's quite self destructive but he can't deny that the leopard was curious about the other big cat. In his mind's eye the spotted feline had already padded up that long tunnel in his subconscious to brush against the surface of his awareness, all so it could be as nosy as any other feline in the world.
Like Cato, Kole had never spent any time with other felines in the wild. He had been hidden by his parents, his cat simply a byproduct of them having saved their son's life. The one who had turned him had taken his parents money and disappeared so he'd never even met another until he'd come to Manson and really his experiences here hadn't been all too great. He knew of the existence of the lynx but had never met the man, and the only other leopard around was one he'd created and he had absolutey no intention of ever facing her. She should never have been turned, she should have died that night. Kole had never turned anybody before and he didn't like the way it felt. It wasn't quite at the level of guilt, but whatever it was it wasn't pleasant.
"You just want to hang around? Tha's fine," he doesn't own the patio, it's not a part of his territory like he'd claim the workshop rooftop to be. Or a particular tree in the forest, but he doesn't get out there as often as he likes so admittedly he's not as bothered about that. Apparently it's safer for the guards to be able to keep an eye on the sneaky leopard, his assigned guard is more than equipped to keep track of Kole but then he's a busy man. Guard's are not babysitters. He's heard that more than once. "If you leave I'll just be sat here by myself anyway. I've got a broken ankle," he prodded at the heavily bandaged appendage with a small frown. There was no point in a cast because he would heal within the week as long as he doesn't try to run on it, "no walking. No running. Even as a leopard." He rubbed at his cheek with the back of his hand and yawned.
His gaze had bled from the blue of his human eyes to the green of the leopard, the cat looking out from the human face curiously, "Cato the jaguar. Keep me company. You seem the better choice than any other resident approaching.. There are some real nutjobs in this place." And he can't really defend himself or scare them off as easy looking like he does now. So he'd appreciate the company. Even if it's only because he doesn't want somebody worse to come along.

Cato's mental state was very much intact. It always had been. He just wasn't aware of all the dangers that came with Manson. The rank system for instance or the wristbands that they had to wear. He knew it helped to get him in his room and certain places, but he hadn't exactly pieced it all together. If he'd so much as felt an ounce of unsurety with Kole he wouldn't have waltzed his way up to the leopard. Maybe his excitement was clouding his judgment a little, lowering his guard just a smidge, but not enough that he'd blindly approach without caution.
The older male gave a slight nod. "Yes." He was casually twirling one of the strings on his hoodie around his finger. A small smile crept on his face as Kole agreed to let him stay. It didn't occur to him that he might be stepping all over the guy's territory. That was probably one of the few things that didn't really click with Cato's animal instincts. The jaguar had chased down a fox once, but it had been because the red furred creature had been giving Florence a hard time by eating her chickens. Cato hadn't been happy to see the woman upset. Besides, if he couldn't eat the chickens, neither could some outsider. "I'll be more than happy to stick around until you tire of me," he purred. Cato had nothing to do for the rest of the day, so he'd stick around until Kole felt like going elsewhere. Then he'd move on to the next thing. "Thank you."
Cato wouldn't say it aloud, but being stuck with a broken ankle sounded like hell, especially after finding out that he couldn't walk or run. He wondered if Kole felt trapped. "When you heal up, would you care to take a run through the forest with me?" He felt like it was safe enough to ask since Kole seemed okay with his hanging around. He'd even stated that he was the better choice compared to others. Of course, Cato wasn't thinking on the same level as the leopard. Probably because he wasn't expecting said 'nutjobs' to come out of nowhere and attack. Only people who made enemies had those types of problems? Right?
The jaguar leaned forward just a bit, staring into the now green eyes of the leopard. He dipped his head a bit in greeting. Figured a small greeting like that was much more appropriate than saying hello aloud. He wasn't very perceptive in the least, but he was intelligent enough to notice the difference. There was some curiosity there.

Kole, in this stae, would be somebody who would willingly answer a few questions on how this place works until he inevitably gets bored of that and ends up telling Cato to shut the hell up. Until then though he'd be perfectly civil, it's amazing just how much the drugs they've given him calmed the usual irritance that was usually a constant trait of his charming personality. The cat within him wanted to scent the jaguar, to check him out, possibly swat at him if he makes one wrong move, but it was most definitely feeling curiously lazy rather than haughty and annoyed. Flashing images of the animal curling up around the darker cat kept coming to mind but Kole himself wasn't the animal.. He'd never really got used to the fact that he was the cat as much as it was him.
This area here wasn't a place he considered his own, too much traffic came through here for him to be stupid enough to try and claim it, not to mention it would take one hell of a lot of walk to track down those who had come through and the crap out of them. Not to mention the guard that he often has at his side probably wouldn't allow such a thing. Damien, possibly, if he's smoking, he might get a few hits in before the naga decided it was worth actually stepping in. Maybe. Kole doesn't pretend to try and understand that man, as long he still gets taken to the forest occassionally he doesn't have much desire to get to know him either.
"Mm, stay, before my guard thinks I want some company." The last person he wants to talk too is some stuffy security guard who's trying to be friendly. Or makes an attempt to 'get through to him'. He may just risk further injury and shift just in that case just to prove how little of a shit he gives when it comes to conversation. Nothing quite says 'piss off' than turning into an animal incapable of speech and grooming oneself.
".. I would. If I were allowed. I don't know how it works but my visits to the forest don't seem to be on a schedule, more of a 'when they can spare my guard to take me'," he's speaking but at the same time leaning forward a little, scenting the panther, until he inevitably had to place his hands on the floor or topple over ungracefully face first onto Cato's knees. He may be a little drugged right now but he's not addled enough that he'd do something quite that clumsy. He had forgotten about his fractured wrist but it wasn't like leaning on it hurt him, and it made it quite a lot easier to peer at Cato's face contemplatively. Mostly he kind of wanted to stick his nose to the skin just below his ear to scent him properly, but people didn't do that.
So instead, after a good few moment he just let himself fall to the side in a semi-graceful roll to be sprawled out on the patio ground beside Cato, huffing out a semi-exasperated breath, "how'd you end up here anyway? Killed a bunch of people too?"

Cato wouldn't deny his desire to do what Kole refused. Wouldn't it be nice to curl up with another feline, maybe even groom him a bit? Take a second to just bask in the presence and warmth. Companionship was the word he was looking for. Nothing intimate, just a friend who was like him. Someone that was feline and could run through the forest, wild and free, unbothered by the underbrush as it scraped at their fur. The jaguar had never been in a relationship, never even considered it. The thought had literally never crossed his mind. The short few months where he'd lived as a human, no one had so much as sparked an interest in him. Maybe it was because they were just that, human. The entire ordeal would be awkward and confusing anyway.
Kole told him to stay, but he'd added that his guard might assume he wanted company. That was a bit confusing. Why was he being allowed to stick around? Maybe it's some type of figurative speech. It was the only explanation he could come up with. Instead of having Kole explain himself, Cato got comfortable and listened to the leopard speak. The older male felt a twinge of disappointment when Kole informed him that he didn't have the luxury of running free. Had he gotten himself into trouble? Blue eyes blinked as the other continued to lean forward until he was forced to support himself. Doesn't that hurt? "If we cross paths during one of your outings then?" He wanted to reach over and push Kole over. Not to be spiteful, but because he was feeling playful. You couldn't play with humans too roughly, they got hurt far too easily. He could wrestle with Kole though. The leopard was broken, but he seemed tough as nails.
A purr escaped him as Kole rolled onto his side, robbing him of the opportunity to push the other over. Probably for the best. Cato was having a bit of trouble separating his two halves. 'Kill a bunch of people too?' Too? That was enough to shut up his purring. Cato slid onto his belly so that he was on the same level as the leopard. "I've never killed a person, just four legged prey." The black haired male crossed his arms under him. "A staff member suggested I come here. Learn to be more human." He tilted his head in Kole's direction. "You killed a bunch of people?" Why this topic didn't completely send him running for the hills was something he didn't quite know. Kole hadn't posed a threat to him, so why should he judge the leopard? That or he was just really desperate.

Companionship was something that Kole was quite certain that he didn't want, he was a solitary person when it all comes down to it but his leopard was a little more willing to let people close. Well, people is a loose term, another feline most likely would be acceptable, every wolf that he'd met so far had been a definite no-no. The biggest problem with Kole is that he believes that he's a monster, that the cat is a monster, he's never had another shifter around to show him that he doesn't have to be a killer. He doesn't have to be the ball of anger, bitterness and hatred he woke up from his coma as.. The only time he's shown any real 'connection' too somebody had been Daisy before he'd tried to maul her and unfortunately for her that had been only to get close enough to try and rip her throat out. He'd failed, now he treats her with contempt. Despite having been the one to have turned her, he feels nothing. She should have died.
Does he count that fling in the forest as an affectionate connection? Possibly.. It helped that the woman had been willing, otherwise it would have been just another dirty notch on his bedpost.
If he'd been pushed he would have rolled with it and most likely have laughed at the jostle. But instead he'd rolled of his own choice and ended up just looking at Cato, "sure. Ignore the rank stench of snake if you do ever come across me, my usual guard is an antisocial misery," but Kole's rather fond of the grumpy bastard, "and a giant snake in a human skin. Got a smoking problem too." The leopard has kind of got use to the acrid scent of tobacco though, it doesn't bother him so much. He'd rather deal with that than some idiot trying to give him their version of therapy whilst on an outing. The white haired male prefers the blunt almost arrogant nature of the Naga. He doesn't baby him either, "I usually have leftovers nearby too.." Added incentive in case the grouchy guard comment puts Cato off. Everybody loves a fresh piece of meat.
Kole arched a brow when that purring came to an abrupt stop. He'd quite liked the sound, it was familiar yet alien and he hadn't noticed how much he'd enjoyed hearing it until it stopped. He could guess why it had done.. Yet Cato still moved so he was down on his level and the leopard reached to ruffle the hair stop his head slightly, he was grateful for it regardless of whether or not he'd done it on purpose to be on the same level. Scratching him on the face never occurred to him. Perhaps deep down he's a little bit sexist, hence his disregard of most women.. Mummy issues.
"I was human," he answered, he was gifted, so were his parents but it isn't as if they mingled with shifters and vampires and the dangerous creatures of the world, "and thanks to circumstances I became this," he was 'saved' from his vegetative state by the lyncanthropy that now runs through his system but he wasn't going to be divulging all of his information to this guy, he barely knows him. Neither does he particularly want him running for the hills for some reason. His parents had treated him like a monster, had been wary of him from the get go, so of course that's what he finished growing up believing himself to be, ".. It's why I'm here." Treatment. Counsellor's believe he's envious. Not only of people's abilities to feel pain, but because of their humanity. He snorted in mild amusement, "I have issues. But I'm not the group hug, emotion spilling type. There're more people around than deer.. And I hold a grudge. " Against most of humanity. Mostly his parents, but even he couldn't bring himself to punish them.
"Plus, my leopard doesn't always listen to me.." Not a surprise considering it had been pushed down and ignored as much as possible. A shameful thing rather than something to celebrate. They're more in sync now than ever before but it had been a difficult teenage life.. Mostly for his victims, but hey, they're dead. He's still around. He doesn't see how they should be cared about even in the slightest.

The shifters he'd met had all been very kind. There was Zevren the counselor who was a wolf and that little hellhound girl Cora who seemed as new this as himself. Novus too. The Komodo Dragon had been the reason he'd even stepped foot inside Manson's gates. He had yet to cross a shifter that made him think he'd made a poor decision in coming here. Cato wasn't banking on that never happening, but for now, things were going swimmingly. He liked it here at Manson, and now he'd found himself a feline shifter. Kole was a bit different than the others though. He was easy going at first glance, yes, but the things he said made Cato question what lay beneath. He had killed people after all. Cato knew that he could never take a human life and act so nonchalant about it. He'd be confused and guilt ridden for the remainder of his days. What could even possess a person to do something so...wretched.
Permission had been granted for them to hunt together. It reignited the flame of mirth, even with the knowledge of Kole's guard. The man didn't sound all that pleasant to be around. He wrinkled his nose at the mention of smoke. The acrid smell of cigarettes had always made his stomach turn a little. He had a keen sense of smell, even when he walked on two legs instead of four. A snake guard. He tried to picture it in his mind, amplifying the snake's mass when Kole added that the man was a giant snake. Made sense as to why a leopard like Kole hadn't just swatted the creature away. "He's a shifter then?" Didn't they have any feline staff to guard the feline residents? In his mind, it made more sense. Cato gave a nod as Kole added there might be leftovers as well. Cato couldn't deny that he did love to eat. The food in the canteen compared to what he could catch was always so much better. Yeah, he was a sucker for a hotdog or piece of steak, but nothing compared to fresh kill. "You've sold me," he mused.
The purrs started back up as his hair was ruffled just a bit. Not once did it cross his mind how awkward this might have looked to a passerby. Two guys stretched out on the ground like they were giant cats sunbathing. On the outside, maybe not, on the inside, possibly. He'd have very much liked to shift right now, but he'd hold off since Kole couldn't for the time being. Cato was considerate like that.
Was human. Were, not shifter. Cato knew the difference now. Shifters were born shifters. You couldn't be turned into one. Weres, on the other hand, could be born that way if a parent was a were, or they could be turned via bite or scratch. So, Kole had been human once, but something had happened. He'd been made a leopard. Cato found himself wanting to know the backstory, but he'd rather not press too much. Kole might think him nosy. Plus, they'd only just met. It'd be a bit strange spilling everything to a complete stranger. Even Cato wasn't that carefree. He'd told Zevren and Novus, but that was it. Novus because the man had been trying to get him to Manson for help, and Zevren because he was a counselor. No one else needed to know the details.
If he could remember the reason behind Florence raising him instead of his own kind, maybe Cato would be equally bitter towards people. Well, not equally bitter, but on the fence. His entire upbringing had been altered by humans who had wanted nothing more than the fur off their bodies. They'd come with their guns and their fire, destroying an entire community without a sense of remorse. Families had been torn apart, friends had been separated. Those that were able to run had fled, and those that had been able to fight had done what they could to buy the weak and less capable time to escape. Eventually, they'd been overpowered. Cato himself had been abandoned by his own mother who had been willing to give up the life of one cub to save her two remaining. If human poachers hadn't been consumed by greed, he probably never would have come to Manson, never lived with Florence. Instead, he'd be with his kin, possibly a mate and cubs of his own. Life sure would be a lot more simple. However, he didn't remember those things. He could barely remember his mother's scent, or what his siblings looked like, or his father. All he knew was that at some point he had lived with them, but he'd grown up with Florence Grey.
Cato was notably quiet for a moment. He didn't know how to respond to that last bit. Yes, there were more people than deer, but there was also a canteen. The leopard and the human were separate, but wasn't there some part of Kole in there when he shifted? Cato couldn't understand it, at all. He didn't have those problems. He was the opposite. He couldn't distinguish between the two. Or was it that the leopard fed off of whatever it was that Kole was feeling. Which brought him the question that left his lips, "You don't like the leopard?" It was the most intrusive question that Cato would probably ask for the remainder of this meeting. He wasn't an intrusive person by any means, but curiosity had gotten the best of him. If Kole and his leopard weren't one, then he was wondering how well things would go over when he did meet the predator face to face.

It may have been quite possible that Kole fried more than just the pain centers of his brain back when he was a child. Either that or he couldn't think of anything more horrifying than switching off the hearts and lives of a dozen children when he was nothing but a child himself. Of course he'd almost destroyed himself when that ability had come to light too but he'd survived due to a natural resistance when the others hadn't been so lucky.. There was a strong bitterness in him that really had no direction, survivors guilt that had been warped and twisted into something that the counsellors here hadn't quite put their finger on. He gets a sick sense of satisfaction of seeing people in pain, or feeling anything actually, perhaps because he rarely feels anything anymore. It's weirdly fascinating.
He was feeling quite chilled out now though, rather relaxed and if he had any less control he'd be purring right alongside the Jaguar here. However, instead he just had a slight smile curving at the corner of his lips as he lounged on the floor watching the darker haired male. Safe. He was safe and there was nobody being a stuck up little smart ass purposely trying to piss him off.
"He shifts. I don't think he's classed as a shifter though? Naga. Human is his shifted form?" He blew a quiet raspberry that made his lips blur for a moment, "he's an asshole, needs some of what I'm on." Even then Kole isn't so sure that it'll make him feel any better. That was a thought that made him chuckle to himself, but it could also have been that he'd won over Cato with the thought of a fresh meal. That would be enough to make him curious too, half the time it was the only reason he allowed Daisy anywhere near him, because she always came with some kind of sweet treat and he's a big fan of sugary things. It was just a shame that he thought of her as nothing but a massive pain in the ass.
"Hm..?" He regarded the man for a good few moments as he pondered over the question. It was intrusive, it was something that a few years ago he'd have snarled out a 'I hate it' without even giving it a moments thought, but now? Now the leopard had been the one to come to the forefront of his mind whenever he was in danger, specifically in danger of mental damage. It was useful at times, he couldn't deny that, it helped him to make sense of feelings and emotions on a more primal level than the complex human whirlwind of his mind most days. Things were simple to the leopard, he could appreciate that. He was slowly melding with the animal over time, but he'd never been taught or given much instruction. Kitty cat shifters just didn't seem as popular as the canine types.
"That's not it," He answered eventually, "I don't dislike or like it. It is what it is, just there.. I dunno," he sounded as confused as he looked, the drugs dulling his thought process wasn't helpful in this instance. How can you explain to somebody that you just don't understand the animal because you'd always been encouraged to bury it deep down inside? Kole isn't exactly much of a deep thinker, he certainly isn't somebody who psychoanalyses himself often, "disconnected.. Not sure what'm supposed to feel toward it. We just share this body.." He blinked and a lazier smile crossed his lips, "likes you though. Tha's the only reason I haven't told you to fuck off."
Not to mention that Kole himself was appreciative of company that didn't make him feel like a defensive piece of shit.

And here Cato thought his life had been traumatic after he'd lost Florence. The Jaguar was still getting used to the world around him and the people in it with all their different personalities and challenges. He really had been sheltered, even when he'd been in Washington. Life had seemed simple enough, but now he was in a place where people had come from all over the world to find themselves, for lack of a better phrase. The world seemed bigger here. People had problems on top of problems that he'd have never dreamed of until he stepped foot in Manson. It was a shell shock for sure. With that being said, he liked it. He liked to think that being here would better equip him for a simpler world. When he thought about some of the people he'd met thus far, he had it easy. He could be Jaguar or he could be human. He could live separate lives or all in one if he ever chose to just ditch society and live in the jungle, not that he was planning to do any such thing. The point was, he could blend in once he understood how humans functioned on a daily basis. Some people weren't that lucky.
Cato let his gaze roll upwards, past the patio ceiling and up to the clouds that were drifting by. "Naga," Cato repeated quietly. He was curious about the man now. He'd never heard of such a thing, or that a human form was a shifted form. He'd been born a jaguar and had shifted once he'd reached adulthood, so did that too mean his human form was his shifted form? He'd have to ask someone. He looked to Kole as he blew a raspberry and it made him chuckle lightly. "What are you on?" Must be good stuff. Cato didn't care though, because if it made Kole likable, then who was he to complain about it? In fact, the shifter was beginning to wonder what a non-drugged Kole was like. Would his opinion change of him? He hoped not.
Cato turned onto his side as Kole began to speak about the leopard that he shared his body with. Indifferent. The word came to him almost immediately. Cato propped himself up a bit more by resting his hand on his cheek and his elbow on the ground. When Kole finally used the word disconnected, Cato had a mental image of the two beings standing apart. He couldn't speak on behalf of a were, but he could on the shifter side. "Hmm, I was born jaguar, or at least I've spent most of my life as such, as far back as I can remember. When I turned to this," he gave a half motion towards himself, "It was like walking for the first time, but no disconnect. We're...one?" He didn't know how to explain it. Didn't have to bother either because Kole had made a statement that had him purring with amusement and he gave the other a playful push that resembled a cat playfully swatting a fellow feline. "Glad he likes me. The feeling is mutual."
