Vaith didn’t feel hot, he didn’t feel cold… He was dead, his body was numb to such things and if he ever did feel warm to the touch it would purely be from sitting near a heat source or ingesting some fresh blood which would momentarily give him a registrable temperature. So the weather lately had hardly been something for him to complain about yet he found himself wanting to cool off anyway (more mentally than physically), just to get away from those who had been bitching and moaning about it all. But the pool house was far too crowded and his own shower, too small and Ez adjacent to be able to relax without fear the baby-vamp wouldn’t hear the water and treat himself to a secret show. Which only left the lake as the next available source of water.
Taking himself out Vaith was soon wtanding at the edge and he took a moment to look into the waters before smiling to himself, discarding his clothes and took a running dive in. Not needing to breath he took his time to stay under the water for a few moments, just enjoying the sensation and weightless feeling before breaking the surface and allowing himself to float.
It was around one in the morning so Vaith wasn’t too worried about many being around right now to see him in this undressed state other than maybe his fellow vampires and who gives a fuck about them? Vaith was old enough and strong enough to carry a good amount of arrogance and the belief that should some come near, a glare and a snarl would be enough to see them leave and allow him some private time. He really hadn’t considered anyone might be watching from below.

Ida usually spent her nights either sleeping at the bottom of the lake, or watching movies in the underwater cave Kaia had made for them, halfway submerged in water. Not a lot of people visited the lake at night after all, so she was usually content just sleeping or taking it easy. Solitude didn't really sit too well with her for too long at a time so she had been about to put her things away and go out for the night. She didn't get too far before she heard someone dive in. For a moment she was tempted to investigate, but she waited until the person was floating on the surface instead. The man had a nice ass, she could be forgiven for admiring him from afar for a while before she quietly made her way to the surface. It seemed a little rude to nibble on the man, so she surfaced a little behind him instead. Ida barely poked her head above the surface, most of her hair floating around her as she spoke, just to make him aware that he wasn't alone in case he hadn't heard her: "Nice night for a swim?" It seemed more polite than commenting 'nice ass' that was for sure.

Vaith had shut his eyes and shut out his senses as much as possible for a vampire so he could enjoy the solitude and quiet of the night, something about just floating on water was undeniably pleasant especially when you had no fear of who or what is around you and Vaith wanted to enjoy that fully. So an interruption was not something he was wanting or expecting, the ‘glare and snarl’ method of keeping himself alone was still something he would go for should someone bother him… but then he hadn’t expected someone like Ida being the one to do it.
Hearing movement and a voice Vaith turned rather quickly and laid eyes on the Siren, in that moment any annoyance he had soon washed away like a wave and he instead just smiled. Where she came from did not seem an important thing to ask so Vaith just replied to her statement. “It is indeed.” he said and swam a little closer to her. “Seems you thought so too.”
Vaith at this point still was not thinking Ida came from the lake rather then to the lake, really had he know she was below and likely to get an eyeful of him he probably still would have dived on in… Just maybe asked if she minded first. Vaith was an arrogant and cocky sire but he wasn’t a deliberate flasher to people who did not want to see him. Being a vampire he did not have the excuse of it being more natural like the shifters.
"I'm Vaith." he might have held a hand out at this point if he was on land but being in the water he was using his arms to keep afloat.

Every night was a good night for a swim as far as Ida was concerned. But then again, it just was more comfortable for her to sleep in water as she got a little bit paranoid about not being able to make it to water in time if she slept on land. Of course, here she knew it would work out fine if she did because the lake was so close, but then she had gotten used to Kaia being around at night and she rather enjoyed not being alone. “I kinda live here,” she admitted, chuckling slightly. “So any day is a good day for a swim, no matter the time of day.” Ida was always more comfortable in water anyway, even if she could pass for human just fine on land. It was just something about being herself that put her at ease with everything else. “Got a nice view from down there,” she said, chuckling slightly. Ida didn’t mind nudity though, nor did she mind people skinny-dipping. Heck, she still preferred going nude if she was going to the pool, so she kind of figured it people had a problem with it, simply don’t look. “Ida,” she said, leaning back in the water a little to let her tail float closer to the surface. She wasn’t going to splash Vaith or anything like that, she was merely wanting to show it off to offer an explanation as to why she was living in the lake in the first place.

She lived here? Vaith looked surprised hearing that but soon after realised maybe he should not be, there were so many different species that attended Manson, why not those who lived in water too if it had a lake big enough? Though the info did also suddenly make him realise he was skinny-dipping in her home and possibly, some other residents home too. It made him wonder if he should put pants on.
Vaith was about to ask when Ida complimented the view and instead he just chuckled a little sheepishly. “Glad to hear it.” he replied, first and always recognising a compliment when he was given one by a lady. “I hope anyone else down there agrees. I rather not get my pants wet.” Because if not, tough luck to them, they can look away until he felt content to leave. Right now Vaith was focused on entertaining Ida as… well, he had no reason for it other than he thought she looked pretty and he was an awful flirt.
As Ida leaned back and gave her name, Vaith smiled and glanced over her tail that suddenly came above the surface, it only caused him to be for a moment wider eyed bit it was in admiration more than anything, yet he restrained himself from touching, he had some self control sometimes. “Beautiful.” He said quietly but just loud enough to be heard as he flicked his eyes back up to Ida and gave a smile.
“So you are a mermaid or a siren?” he questioned, those being the two water and fish-tailed species he could immediately think of. “I don’t think I have met one before.” Knowingly, he supposed he might have met one who had ventured onto land, Vaith was not sure if could they do that or if it was something he had misread somewhere.

Ida knew it would’ve been possible to attend classes even if the lake hadn’t been big enough. It wasn’t too far to the ocean. At least, not too far not to be able to go there every other day if she’d needed to to feel comfortable enough to do things on land in between. She was just glad that she got to stay so close to where she was learning about the world. While it was true that her and Kaia lived in the lake, she knew her presence wasn’t as widely known as the nymph’s. So she wasn’t surprised when people were surprised to learn she lived there. “Oh, don’t worry,” she said, chuckling slightly. “If Kaia took offense, you’d have washed up on the shore shortly after diving in. I think it’s safe to assume she either agrees with me or isn’t watching.” Ida knew she didn’t really have to worry too much about the nymph, she was awesome when she got to working her lake, but it was hard not to worry about her whenever she ventured too far away at night. It was hard not to smile at the flattery. Ida always appreciated that, even more so in her natural form. It had been a rarity before she came here and made her appreciate it all the more. “Siren,” she replied, using a webbed hand to push her hair out of her face. “I’ve got a lot to learn about the modern world, so I’m taking a few classes to fit in more. Even if needing a water source nearby limits my options somewhat for where I can settle later on.” Ida was just glad that she wasn’t limited solely to saltwater to avoid drying up, because that would’ve limited her immensely. At least she was able to live anywhere inland where it wasn’t too far to a source of water. “I’m always looking to learn new things about people, as well as the world.” Ida’s thirst for knowledge wasn’t solely based on the world after all. People were just as fascinating.

Vaith really was not in need of any ego boosting and yet he was getting one right now at the idea two women had eyes on him, though not naturally an optimist as such, he was now however choosing to believe that Kaia was in agreement with Ida rather than simply not looking his way because, well who would not look at him if looking was an option? “Oh, that’s a shame. Is she shy?” he asked curiously with just a hint of a wry smile. “I am harmless.” As much as it stroked him to know he was possibly being watched, Vaith much rather be able to look back at his admirers. Maybe it was a bit misogynistic but Vaith couldn’t help but think that since Ida was very beautiful that the company she kept must be too, he didn’t want to miss out on that.
So Ida was a siren… That was interesting. Vaith couldn’t think why she might want to learn about the modern world though, the ‘normal’ modern world was as screwed up as there own supernatural one but he supposed he himself had never been apart from it to know what it might be like to find yourself in unfamiliar surroundings suddenly. It made him wonder where she might have been, stuck in a cave in depths of the ocean? It didn’t seem right to question too much, Vaith didn’t want to offend the woman in front of him. “To give Manson credit, it is pretty good at the whole ‘welcome to the world’ thing.” Vaith had only slightly taken advantage of it on arrival, having been running a coven so long and so trapped in one place, he was only partly out of touch with things in the beginning.
“What have you learned so far?” he asked next, thinking that was a better subject line to follow. He wanted to know about Ida as much as she was willing to share, and of course if she wanted to ask him things he would talk too… Vaith was a vein beast, he found it hard not to talk about himself sometimes.

Ida wasn’t able to say for sure whether or not Kaia was watching Vaith, all she was able to say was that he hadn’t been kicked out of the lake so she wasn’t feeling threatened. “She is a nymph,” she offered instead of answering whether or not Kaia was shy. “Nighttime isn’t the safest for her to wander around. Not that I don’t trust the vampires on the grounds, but not everyone can control themselves around her kind.” Ida wasn’t passing judgement, far from it, it was merely a fact. It was safer for Kaia to stay in the lake at night to avoid another mauling. “After centuries sleeping at the bottom of a lake very similar to this one, other residents have been very helpful at basic things like how a phone works and getting me a magical camouflage for when humans are around,” she said, chuckling slightly. Sure, she had read up on a lot of other things herself as well and the assembly of music she had gotten from others seemed to work wonders too. “I like it here though, so might stick around past being declared ready for the world,” she admitted. This place was awesome. So many different species in one place, so many things to learn and do… “Well, I’ve learned some staff members don’t mind taking me to the ocean to fish,” she said, shrugging slightly. “Looking for someone to teach me to drive though, that would make things easier,” she admitted. Life would be easier if she could just borrow a car and drive herself to the beach. “Oh! And I should put on clothes for the pool,” she added as an afterthought, giggling slightly. “Surely a handsome devil like yourself have to have some life lessons worth passing on?” Sure, maybe it was a low blow, but she figured if she was complimenting him, he might throw more her way and she was feeling all glowy about the last one still. And it wasn’t a lie, because he was certainly something to look at.

Vaith wouldn’t be able to deny taking some offence had he been thrown forcibly out of the lake even if he would have understood Kaia’s reasoning, it was a bit baffling to him why some of his kind can’t keep their fangs in their mouths. The fact he was still swimming gave Vaith a sense of smug satisfaction that he was unable to hide but he tried to look sympathetic also. “Like I said, I am harmless, can’t speak for all vampires here. Personally, I would never bite another without permission. Especially not something as beautiful as a nymph.” He made a point of not speaking too quietly, if Kaia was lurking he wanted her to overhear.
He wouldn’t bite a beautiful siren either unless they offered of a neck or arm for a nibble. Vaith knew his impulse control was lacking for most pleasures but he can restrain himself around a women, admittedly that is partly due to being somewhat distracted by other more appealing features.
Nodding, Vaith understood why Ida might want to stay here. He couldn’t say how helpful other residents were as he actually did not socialise too much, those he had got close to seemed to vanish which was in some tiny part the reason for his upped casualness towards befriending the fairer sex. Deeper relationships now seemed pointless, his heart was hardened. Staff however he knew were useful and were not expecting you to give much back.
“You hear people complain but I think that is only due to the fact they have not experienced far worse.” Vaith said as he swam around a little just to keep above water. “Really, I had the same thoughts, as long as this place will allow it, I can’t think of a reason to leave.”
It sounded like Ida had never been classed as high risk if staff were taking her off location to fish. That would for sure influence his own choice on if to stay in Manson beyond when he had to, if you can get staff on side or just not to be paranoid about you then life was pretty sweet here.
“Can’t say I know anyone for that.” Vaith interjected, he did know how to himself but he did not have a licence, taught himself through trial and error, and the car he drove was stolen so he thought it best not to offer his own services, seemed a bad idea all around really. “A counsellor maybe?” He guessed she could argue some kind of ‘mental wellbeing’ as the reason for needing to learn and they might be able to organise something even if it was on the grounds to start with.
He chuckled at the mention of clothing, people can be so prudish can’t they?
As for his own lessons, the compliment was not needed to make Vaith share but it certainly helped. Swimming around Ida he put on a thoughtful expression. “What sort of lesson were you after? I am a vampire, we are a long lived species. Pick up a lot of interesting facts on friends, enemies, life in general and love… How to rewire a plug.” He grinned and then just swan to the bank to sit on the edge though his legs still mostly dangled in the water.

Ida had had both good and bad experiences with vampires. Luckily, she was capable of scratching them up pretty badly if they got too bite-happy for her. Thankfully, Vaith seemed like a perfect gentleman. “Well, maybe next time you come by, she’ll feel comfortable showing her face,” she said, smiling at Vaith. He seemed like a perfect gentleman to her, at least as far as his fangs were concerned, and Kaia deserved some positive experiences with vampires as well. Experiences where they weren’t using her or attacking her while she was shopping. There were lots of people around these parts that seemed to enjoy her company just for her company and it was a nice change that was for sure. Maybe it was because her powers didn’t work well on the people here, aside from her natural allure. “People don’t sleep for centuries because they’re in a good place,” she said, chuckling slightly. “If I’d had somewhere like this to retreat to, I might’ve stayed awake.” This place was definitely a nice retreat. Not just from the world outside, but also a place to meet others. “Probably helps with the not leaving to take classes. I’m training to be a musical therapist. Combine my natural talents with a new skill and all.” It seemed reasonable to her, and not overly difficult either. She loved singing after all. A counselor was probably her best bet for a driving instructor and she nodded at his suggestion. She would definitely be asking next time she spotted one. Driving couldn’t be that hard after all. Compared to a lot of other things at least. And it wasn’t like she’d ever be able to go on major road trips with there time constraints, she just wanted to know how so she wasn’t so reliant upon others to get to town, or the beach. When Vaith swam towards the bank, Ida followed him though she pulled herself all the way out of the water. Once she was properly shifted, she sprawled out on her stomach and looked up at Vaith. She’d been wearing a green summer dress when she’d gone into the water that afternoon, so naturally she was still wearing it now. She just wanted to look her best around someone as handsome as the vampire and she always felt like she looked her best like this. “Oh, I’m always interested in lessons about love,” she teased, grinning at him. “Or just how to enjoy life to the fullest.” Without getting drunk that is.

This visit to the lake had gone so well that Vaith fully planned to make another visit although he thought for the next one he might wait outside the lake and make his presence know before diving in, he wanted to see the mysterious Kaia and if being a little more restrained in his approach allowed for that then he could with a bit of effort restrain himself. “I hope so.” he said quietly with a smile and looked over the water. He would not mean to put any pressure on the nymph, if she wanted to hide he was hardly going to go looking for her. Good things come to those who wait.
Vaith looked a little shocked by what Ida said next but he supposed most would not sleep the years away unless it was to escape something. It made him more curious as to this siren’s history, it seemed like it might be interesting to say the least. Vaith wouldn’t say Manson was perfect, some of the staff seemed to be worse than the residents they were supposedly meant to look after too but when compared aspects of his own previous life and what he was guessing Ida might have lived through, it was near paradise. Rather than probe her just yet Vaith smiled hearing how she was training to be a music therapist, it reminded him of someone, but that someone he pushed out his mind and refocused on Ida. “Really? That is impressive. I have never been very musical but always appreciated those that are.” At one stage he vaguely remembered being able to play a little guitar and piano but that was mostly an aspect of the time he was in and a kill he had to pick up to placate his own Sire’s wishes.
Vaith wanted to hear more about it but first he got out onto the bank, it was just easier to have a conversation this way and yeah, maybe a small part of him hoped Ida might follow. When she did he inwardly grinned and watched her get out only to shift back, losing the beautiful tail to gain a beautiful set of legs, and a dress… Admittedly Vaith was a tiny bit disappointed to see that wrap around her body but he tried to not let it show, thinking she must be a more magical kind of shifter if her clothing returned when her body did. Besides, she still looked hot.
Chuckling Vaith leaned back on his forearms and then turned a bit more on his side so it was easier to see Ida. “I can definitely give you some lessons on enjoying life. Vampires are all about sin and decadence. Pretty good with love and sex too, more so sex. But it’s hard to be faithful when you are naturally attracted to all things pretty.”

While Ida didn’t mind watching Kaia’s back, she always appreciated not having to do so. Appreciated when people were in control over themselves enough that she didn’t have to be watchful or step in. Maybe it was just because she was part fish at the moment, but Vaith hadn’t tried to bite her and that gave her hope that he would actually be able to keep his cool around Kaia too. And if he couldn’t, even at the lake, well, this was Kaia’s stronghold, she’d probably be safe anyway. Whatever the case, Ida’s sleep had made her a lot more patient and given her a chance to just recharge a little. It wasn’t like she’d planned on sleeping quite as long as she had after all. “Music is kind of in my blood,” she said, chuckling slightly. “Might be cheating, but when you can pick up anything and figure out how to play it, seems a shame not to use it for something. Why not try to use it for good rather than enchanting a whole bar of humans?” she said, chuckling slightly. While she didn’t mind occasionally using her gifts on humans for things like that, it got old if she did it too often. “Oh, I know that last part all too well,” she said, chuckling slightly. “Better to have a selection of beautiful creatures who don’t mind keeping things casual.” She certainly wasn’t one for relationships. Maybe it was just because she hadn’t found the right person yet, but she tended to be distracted by people admiring her and pretty people in general. “I’d love for you to teach me some lessons about sin, decadence and sex,” she said, grinning at him. “Maybe not right here though, but whenever’s good.”

If Ida was as talented as she claimed then Vaith would agree it would be a shame not to use it somehow. The fact she was using it for good too was even more admirable, Vaith couldn’t say he would do the same had he been gifted with musical blood, not that he would be going around enchanting strangers (or he didn’t think he would be) but he could for sure see himself gaining a large bunch of groupies to fawn over his talents and remind him just how talented he was… Chuckling to himself at the idea he maybe didn’t really need musical talent for that really, he then focus back to Idea. “I don’t think it is cheating at all. I mean surely there is more to it than just playing something.” Vaith wasn’t going to try and given a detailed emotional explanation and risk sounding like an idiot but he was sure that feelings and emotion, giving a message, all that sort of personality and intention stuff factored in somehow. As for the humans bit, he found it funny too, guessing Ida was joking but probably had put some under her spell in her years above ground. “Well, if a few humans get caught up in it, hardly your fault.” Some just didn’t know what they were getting involved with.
For Vaith it wasn’t his voice that caused the issue but his face… No arrogance he would claim but rather a natural vampire allure and those who realise what he is having some kind of kink towards the idea of joining him right up until it comes to what needs to be done in order to actually becoming a vampire.
Vaith wouldn’t say it but he was not surprised to hear Ida also had a collection of sorts, but it didn’t phase him at all, reassured him if anything… That they were on the same page if she was also just wanting another causal to add to the selection as there was no chance of hurt feelings, they were just going to enjoy each other if things went his way.
Laughing though he shook his head, agreeing the idea of teaching her here and now was not ideal, even he wasn’t that much of a showoff regardless of the lack of people around right now. “I would be happy to.” he said although he felt her need to be near water and his own need to be out of the sun presented a few issues. “Name a time and a place? I can bring a few of my favourite indulgences.” He was thinking drugs but then remembered Ez couldn’t just magic them up anymore so figured he just take a little tainted wine and himself, maybe the robe people seemed to admire so much. What can be better than that, anyway?

In the past, Ida hadn’t exactly used her gifts for good, which was probably why she was determined to do so for the most part right now. She wasn’t above using her powers if she really wanted something though. “You can always book an appointment,” she said, chuckling slightly. “I need people to test out my lessons on anyway, why not someone who doesn’t seem to need it?” she suggested. Hey, it was a perfectly legit way to play for him. She giggled slightly at what he said about a few humans getting caught up like that. “Sometimes you just want to be admired in the easiest way possible,” she admitted. Ida preferred having a selection of people she could seek out when she was lonely or just wanted a little fun. As long as everyone was on the same page, nobody got hurt and that seemed a lot better than risking someone’s feelings because she couldn’t resist straying. Maybe if she found the right kind of person, she’d be able to have some form of open relationship, but so far she hadn’t really been looking for that. Much less complicated to just enjoy people’s company. “Could always just head somewhere now, but I’d hate to tear you away from the water,” she said, smiling slightly at him. “Can always just text. I like spending time on land, hell, can’t have proper fun in the lake.” Ida couldn’t really have proper fun with people in her natural form.

Ordinarily Vaith would strongly object to beings someone’s lab bunny but in this instance he was rather unsurprisingly quite willing to test out what Ida had planned. She was correct that he did not need the music therapy (though if in general he needed some kind of treatment was up for debate) and so he saw the logic in being the one to try it all out. “Sure. Just as I have no talent myself doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy listening to those that can be musical in a way that helps.” Vaith was fairly certain that drink and drug induced karaoke sessions did not count. Though that too had gotten him some laughs and a fair bit of attention from the fairer sex… It served as another reminded that humans were funny creatures.
Vaith sat up a bit more as Ida offered they go somewhere now, he didn’t mean to seem so enthusiastic but sometimes things just got the better of him and he was not expecting such immediate planning. But it wasn’t like the water was going anywhere anytime soon, he had no issues in being torn away from it should Ida be willing to leave. Looking to the Siren he wondered if she was just teasing him right now… If she was then it was working. “I haven’t got my phone on me but if you can leave the lake now I don’t mind leaving it either, go back to my room, pick up my phone and maybe at least make a start on lessons. You give me a musical one, I give you something else.”
