Maybe if she’d known Cora from she was a baby, she would’ve been more inclined to spoil her with useless junk, but as it was she didn’t know the girl all too well and so she was only getting her the essentials. If a guard wanted to take her shopping at a later date for things she just wanted because she wanted it, well, she wasn’t going to oppose it. It seemed best to let her have some freedoms after all. Dutch smiled when he handed her back her bags. Well, half the ones he’d been given anyway. It didn’t seem fair to let someone she’d just met have to carry them all. She chuckled slightly when the door shut on the guard like that, nudging Louis gently. “How come I’ve never met you before?” she asked, genuinely curious. “Are you the Louis Bram was asking about?” It wasn’t that common of a name after all, at least, she hadn’t met anyone named that around the grounds so far. Still, seemed best to make sure. She ordered herself a cup of tea, wanting something that could be sweetened without too much extra. Just sugar did wonders with fruity tea. Bringing it over to the table, she sat across from Louis. “Those bastards would’ve killed you if you weren’t such a fascinatingly quick healer,” she pointed out, stirring her tea for a moment. “Could teach you to move or two, if you wanted,” she offered. “A little more human way of defending yourself than draining souls.”

Dutch was lucky he hadn't just handed over all of her bags, he doesn't particularly like to do favours for people but she had just saved his hat so it was the least he could do to carry some of the burden. Just some of it though, he wasn't that giving. Nor was he that strong, he'd only get irritable if his arms started to ache, not with her either, just in general. Luckily though they got to the cafe and he was sat down with the bags at his feet before any of that happened. And then she was asking him questions that really caught his attention.
"You know Bram?" He responded immediately, his smile brightening just a touch because damn, that hybrid was worth a smile just to think of. He was like the duracell bunny on speed for somebody like Louis, except he could lick this battery and not get too much of a shock. And the guy had mentioned him in conversation? That left the psyvamp feeling all sorts of pleased, "I guess I'm that Louis, what did he say?" Because he can't not ask that question. He can only hope it was good things.
He grinned a little at the compliment but couldn't deny that he probably would have been dead if he were human or some super slow healing supe. Then she went and offered to help him fight and he shrugged a little and took a sip of his drink, "nah, I'm good thanks, if I cause anybody any pain I can feel the backlash of it. I find it best usually to walk away or just let them get on with whatever. Like you said, I'm a fascinatingly quick healer. And I can feed off of those who are beating on me. Bastards always get their comeuppance in the end." Even if that means he does drain their soul in the end.
He might go back at a later date and do just that if he gets peckish enough, Louis always remembers those who had wronged him.

Saying she knew Bram was a bit of a stretch. That she’d met him? Well, that was a different matter. “We’ve met,” she offered, chuckling slightly. “Said you smell good and let him dress you up, but we’re not exactly friends so I imagine that’s why he wouldn’t say much more. He was looking for you though.” Dutch felt like that was maybe a good way of explaining the situation. “We were off to a rocky start, but he’s alright.” When he wasn’t insulting Julius, but Louis didn’t need to know that. She was allowed some secrets after all. “Maybe not my usual crowd, but not not my crowd either, if that makes sense.” If anything, Bram seemed like a harmless nut job to her. Amusing under the right circumstances, not a threat, and probably someone she wouldn’t particularly mind spending time with if she was shitfaced. Probably find him amusing if she was inebriated if she was being honest. Dutch wasn’t usually in the habit of offering to teach people how to fight, but this place offered very little in place of entertainment that suited her, and so it seemed fair to offer to teach people who were unable to defend themselves without using powers. When he declined, she merely nodded at his explanation and sipped her drink. “Fair enough,” she said, smiling slightly at him. “To be fair, I’ve pushed people off of roofs for less. Granted, the buildings were tall enough that I could catch them again before they hit the ground.” It had served as a great lesson, because who would believe them anyway if they said a winged woman caught them mid-air? “Got any other talents than healing and soul-sucking?” she asked, genuinely curious. She had met people who fed on others like that before, but they all did for different reasons so she couldn’t quite pinpoint where Louis fit on the scale.

Both of the things that Bram had said were true.. He was a little disappointed that more wasn't said, but he was quite pleased that the hybrid had been looking for him, if he'd had known that earlier than he wouldn't have been wandering down an alleyway, instead he'd have headed to Carpe and hoped that Bram was awake. He'd never really had anybody he'd easily count as a friend, but if somebody was looking for him, didn't that make them friends? Friends with benefit, admittedly but he wasn't going to quibble over that, it's an arrangement that works for him.
Louis just grinned though and took a sip of his drink, "he's not everybody's cup of tea, I guess, but he's perfect for somebody like me." Because of what he is and the more than slight unpredictability of the other man's personality. He's a breath of fresh air, a shot of pure alcohol and an alluringly soft blanket all in one. He could wrap himself up in Bram for days.
"Humans are idiots," he laughed suddenly, the idea of her pushing people off of a roof sounded amusing to him, "I can't go around proving to them that they aren't the apex predator on this world, they need to figure all of that out for themselves." Manson would be so proud of him for that. But he wasn't saying it because he wants brownie points, he just doesn't want to go bullying some stupid idiotic humans with an inflated sense of superiority.. Dutch could do that for him. That seemed to have worked out okay this time.
Louis might be a little bit immoral, but he's a little fussier with his food to want to devour some scum bag humans.
Talents? Talents.. He looked slightly thoughtful for a moment, "like, powers? Or actual talents? Because on one hand I could tell you that I'm basically an empath on steroids, but on the other hand I could tell you about my guitar skills. I can taste your curiosity on my tongue though, it tingles, like fruity sherbert."

Maybe if she’d been a little more patient and gotten off on a better foot, she would have learned more about Louis from Bram, but she hadn’t really been in the mood for it at the time. She was trying her best to be more patient for the sake of Cora, but it wasn’t exactly easy. If her own family was trying her patience like that, who could really blame her for not having the patience for Bram long-term? “He seems pleasant, but for me he’s probably best when drunk. I’ll admit, I’m not the most patient person out there.” She couldn’t claim that, seemed best to admit as much at least. Better than to pretend to be something she wasn’t. “Fortunately, they are capable of learning,” she said, chuckling slightly. “Eventually that is. Some are just incorrigible.” She knew there were some good ones out there, but not everyone was worth the effort. And like Louis said, they had to figure out for themselves that they weren’t the apex predator they believed they were. While she was curious about his abilities, she couldn’t help but be amused at his words. “I was thinking about actual talents, but it is good to know you’ve got such a refined empathic palette,” she said, sipping her drink. “Don’t usually approve of those kinds of invasion of privacy, but I’m guessing you don’t really have a choice in the matter if it’s what feeds you? In which case, it’s a different matter entirely.” She could be reasonable after all.

Louis didn't really want Bram spreading all of his secrets about himself to various people within Manson, the sly little psyvamp just wanted to know what the hybrid had said about him. He loves compliments and to be honest just being spoke about by somebody in a positive way was complimentary enough for him to feel a little bit warmer towards the hybrid. Maybe he should get him a present. But does he know the guy well enough to get him something? Maybe he'd let him take a nibble out of him? That'd work for both of them, whether he'd agree or not though he doesn't know. It's worth the offer though. He might as well bleed willingly from his throat, Bram'd probably be more gentle than a knife in the neck. Maybe.
"I don't need to be patient, he gives me a buzz, like a drug, a contact high," Louis smiled a little as he took another sip of his drink, "but I can see how he'd rub some the wrong way. However, I just want to grab him and get my mouth against his." Perhaps that was a little too much information from him, but he didn't really mean he wanted to snog Bram's face off, he wanted to fill his own soul with the energy of the other man. Like a cat who got the cream, it'd be such a rush.
"I don't know," Louis said honestly, "to me it seems the more technology these people get the less they store in their minds. Why bother learning anything when you can just type a question into a search engine, right?" He didn't agree with that of course, he likes to actually learn things so it's there when he wants it rather than having to rely on a battery run thing, "... Plus," he added with a light grin, "you just can't teach common sense."
"It's not something I can turn off, it's what I am." So it's a good thing that she doesn't have a problem with it, otherwise he'd call her discriminatory. Louis had tried once to close off the vampiric side of him and it hadn't turned out well, his eyes had turned entirely silver and his skin had begun to glow moments before the vampire within him broke loose and he went on a little bit of a feeding spree.. He doesn't know what happened. When he regained his senses he never looked back so who knows, but he didn't like not having control so he will never shut it off again, "as far as actual talents go though I uh, don't really know. I've just been kind of plodding through life until I got here, Manson has options. But I've had yet to grasp hold of any of them. But, I have time. What do you like to get up too?"

Dutch smiled at his words. Yes, she could imagine how Bram would give someone like Louis a buzz and that it was easier to just accept him as he was when that was the case. “Most people don’t understand my relationship either,” she said, chuckling slightly. “People have different needs and tastes and thank goodness for that or we’d all be fighting for the same person.” Dutch was quite content with her relationship with the dragon, even if nobody seemed to understand what she saw in the man. Heck, aside from liking the man for himself, he fulfilled some basic qualifications for any mate she could possibly hope would last. Like enjoying heights, and being able to fend for himself. He might be right. Over the centuries, people had seemed to get smarter, but maybe that was a bit stagnant right now. “Well, I for one am glad society is never going to be a utopia. In a world without any injustice, there’d be no need for my kind. And if correcting an injustice is to push someone off a roof and not catch them, that’s just life,” she said, shrugging slightly. She was making no apologies for how she lived her life. Her purpose was to settle scores after all, if she couldn’t do that in any way, she might as well cease to exist. Distracting her from it was only going to work for so long. Thankfully, she had gotten to deliver some justified ass-kicking earlier, so she was set for a while. She had suspected that his empathy was what he was and not something he could turn off. She had come across empaths before that had been able to feel things, but never described them as different flavors. Either they hadn’t been as skilled as Louis, or they didn’t rely on it to survive. “Well, if I could do anything in the world? I’d be out and about fighting,” she admitted. “But for the time being, I’ve taken up smithing again, occupy my hands with making weapons and my mind with how to use them.” Maybe that wasn’t considered healthy, but it seemed to work for the most part.

Louis chuckled suddenly and shook his head, "relationship? There isn't any relationship there, we're friends. With a couple of benefits. I don't do relationshps, not anymore anyway." Not since his first wife and that whole dramatic episode anyway. He was quite happy just plodding through life as he is, making friends, enjoying life and generally just being an awesome person. Or so he thinks anyway. "You're with somebody though? Doesn't matter what other people think, it's all about whether or not you're happy. I'm happy. Enough. Could do with something stronger than this but I'll probably pop to Carpe before heading back to Manson.. I have a healed over booboo I need kissing better too." He grinned before taking another sip of his drink, the smile fading to something more natural.
"That must be nice," he commented, "having a ready made purpose, I mean. I'm not sure why my kind exist, we don't particularly do anything much helpful. We certainly don't help with any world injustice's." If anything his species is a little selfish, especially if he is anything to go by. Louis can't really remember the last time he did something for somebody without thinking about what he'd also be getting out of it, "I'd make a good guard in Manson, apparently, able to tell when people are about to blow up and all. So says my counsellor," he grimaced slightly, which pretty much showed exactly what he thought about that idea. He didn't think he'd make a good guard at a place like Manson.. He's a little too lazy, lacks motivation. Not to mention he has 'issues'.
Fighting had never really been something that he's all too good with. In fact he avoids it as best as he can.. It's why he had turned down her offer to help him defend himself, if somebody thinks he can fight they'll only hurt him more. It's better for him to just be a little weak. People pity him then. That worse for him, "you make weapons?" He asked, intrigued over that, "that's pretty damn awesome," he chuckled slightly, his smile turning cheekier, "and pretty sexy actually. What kind of things you prefer to make? Swords, axes or daggers and stuff?" Admittedly he doesn't know much about metal working but damn, he does like sharp things. Hence why he was keeping hold of the knife that was stored somewhat unsafely in his pocket.

Listening to him talk, she couldn’t help but smile at his words. She could understand that. Heck, she usually didn’t do relationships herself either. Relationships were usually something others could exploit in her experience, but thankfully she didn’t have to worry about that with Julius. Nobody could use him against her. “I’m more used to no strings attached, so it’s a nice change of pace,” she admitted, chuckling slightly. “I imagine Carpe would be a lot of energy too?” If he was heading that way, at least he was likely to have a good time. And security would be able to vouch for his whereabouts from actually laying eyes on him. Dutch shrugged at his words. “It is and it isn’t,” she said simply. “Good to feel like I have a purpose, but makes it hard to relax.” She was getting somewhat better at just relaxing when she was around the dragon, but that was really the only time she fully let her guard down. She couldn’t help but be amused when she learned that his counselor thought he’d make a good guard. “More like a good hall-monitor by the sounds of things,” she said, smirking slightly before she sipped her drink. Dutch herself wouldn’t have minded being a guard in a place like Manson, but she knew she’d never fit that role either. Too likely to smack someone’s head against a wall when they were being assholes. “Daggers or swords,” she said, chuckling slightly. “Got a wicked scythe stashed away somewhere that I’m particularly proud of. If you’re going to be judge, jury and executioner, best look the part, right?” She didn’t quite know which of her stashes that was in at the moment, but she figured she could always just make a new one if need be. Not that she thought she would get out anytime soon to collect her things.
