This past week had been rough. Fabian had picked up a few new charges, but they were not the ones giving him any issues, instead it was other peoples mess he found himself being dragged into. Having to fight battles he didn’t think he should be fighting for people who didn’t seem able to do the job. He was just thankful to have the wereblood now… All the scars, cuts bumps and bruises took half the time to heal.
Crossing campus from the carpark and garages Fabian had his hands shoved in his pockets and soon came to an abrupt halt and glanced around the area. Quiet. If he didn’t love it so much it would be a little unnerving for the grounds to be so empty. Pushing the thought away he continued on and inside, destination was the Secure Facility, and the start of his shift.
Once inside Fabian made his way to the break room, planning just to check on exactly what he was meant to be doing tonight before he would change and pick up anything he needed.
ooc: sorry too while Lanie, havign issues tonight XD

With his feet up on the edge of the table Jax sat leaning backwards slightly. He didn't have to turn and look who it was... he could smell Fabian the moment he opened the door and entered the room. Per usual the rather large man sat rolling a shifts worth of blunts, insuring he would stay somewhat relaxed throughout the night. His usual post, the snake pit, was by far the perfect place to spend the ones night but alas it was his turn to be stuck deep in the bowels of hell.
Once Fabian came into view and rounded the other side of the table Jax tossed a blunt in his directions.
"You look like you could use a parting gift." He said with a smile. Leaning forward Jax cracked his back some before returning back to his previous position.
"You've got rounds tonight so that shouldn't be to hard."
He remarked as he began shoving his paraphernalia back into his pockets. It'd been long known the Head of Security for the Academy was the one and only drug dealer on campus. Which sucked for the residents but it was one way to keep their addictions in check and to insure no one OD'd. Nodding towards Fabians fresh wounds Jax cocked an eyebrow
"Are those marks something you need to discuss or was it purely for pleasure?"
Hey wolves could be freaky little fuckers so he had to ask just to make sure.

Fabian could tell when people he knew were near, they generally always smelled the same or wore the same perfume, then there were those who had habits that meant they had a distinctive smell. Jax was in the break room, that was obvious and actually made Fabian feel a little better. He rather Jax then, well anyone else really. Ten years on then job and Fabian still wasn’t overly sociable with co-workers.
Walking in Fabian moved around the table Jax was sat at and glanced his way as he spoke and one of the smokes was tossed his way. Fabian knew he couldn’t claim to be straight edged but picking up that kind of smoking having never smoked anything seemed like it be taking some steps backwards, so he just handed it back.
It took a second for Fabian to realise what the hell Jax meant with the parting gift comment and how it related to rounds. Ten years and he still could find the man hard to follow language wises. “Oh.. yeah.” he said with a faint grin.
As for the marks… “A couple of resident had a breakdown in the stress relief room.” Fabian explained as he sat down, then pulled out his phone to log onto the academy network and bring up his schedule for tonight. It seemed to be much the same deal as always so he wasn’t looking at it too long.
Looking back to Jax, a guy he always thought he could get an honest answer from Fabian placed his phone down on his lap for a moment.
“Are the other staff talking about me?” he asked plainly. Insults and threats, you heard them all as part of the job, Fabian was used to it, could ignore it, even laugh about it sometimes. Lately though each resident he came across seem to have something bad to say, or heard someone else who had something bad to say. As bad as Fabian knew he could be at reading other people, he wasn't sure other staff didn't like him or at least how he worked.. Which was odd as he knew he followed procedure to the letter. Fabian didn’t really care if any of it was true, he was just curious. Well, maybe he cared a little. It was hard to do a job well when you co-workers possibly think your bad at it or wont back you up when you give a order.

"Might be time to put in a request to have their medications readjusted. We can't risk getting the other residents all riled up especially with it being the dead of winter and the lack of outdoor activities."
Jax had learned from his many years here at the Academy during the cold months residents and staff alike moral took a hit with the lack of vitamin D and warm weather.
"What about the new conservatory Azyona and the other have been working on? Last time I checked it was pretty much done and it's a controlled environment maybe some scheduled trips through will help mellow things out."
Rolling the returned blunt between his fingers Jax paused before quickly lighting the bit of smoke. Taking a hit the room quickly filled with the pungent smell as the cigar paper burned. He was slightly caught off guard when Fabian asked if any of the staff had been talking about him. Jax stared at the man for a moment attempting to gauge the situation before he replied. Instead of replying with the answer Fabian was looking for her merely replied with another question
"Is there something your hinting at?"
Jax inquired, taking another hit off his smoke before blowing the smoke above his head.

Fabian wasn’t sure drugging Baylee more would do any good. The kid had a suicide wish. Any time he lapsed on the drugs surly would just to see him go more downhill too. But Fabian nodded, the other option was to let the kid go frantic and kill himself, which obviously wasn’t going to be allowed any time soon, if for no other reason then because Baylee seemed insistent to take people with him. Maybe Jax was right and things would improve after winter past, spring sprung and people could get out more.
The conservatory idea seemed like a good plan, better then a room which promoted anger. “Yeah. One resident at a time.” To start with anyway to Fabian that was a better idea, though he was sure the stress room was meant to be one on one so how the tiger girl got in to cause havoc with Baylee was something for maintenance to figure out, bad lock design maybe.
Anyway, Fabian has some other things on his mind he wanted to clarify before he started work, Jax seemed as good a person to ask as any. As the room began to fill with smoke Fabian thought he maybe should get an answer sooner rather then later, guessing Jax might only be here to talk for as long as he had something to smoke.
“No.” Fabian said with a small slightly puzzled frown. It was hard to hint to things when its something you are asking another about.
“Just things I noticed. Other guards, seem happy but smell like they are not around me.” he said with a slight shrug. Usually if someone smiled Fabian just assumed all was ok but his wolf senses were saying otherwise, well Fabian didn’t really know what it was saying but it didn’t match with what he thought happy was meant to mean. Latest example being going to help Mickey who didn’t totally seem grateful. That mixed with guards having long chats and making deals with the residents that want to kill most of them and others offering to take residents home (which he guessed could have been a joke) Fabian was sure it was either himself or all of them going mad.

Jax grew silent as Fabian talked, listening to the words that floated out of his mouth. Poor Fabian was forgetting the cardinal rule in working at the place like this.
"Look your always going to have your bitches and jerks, your ingrates and people who think their shit don't stink. You have to take it with a grain of salt giving the sort of place this is. Someone is always going to be talking shit about someone else or have a chip on their shoulder. You’re a good worker and a straight shooter... don't let these morons right you down. You've got Zev to go home to at night and he's the only real person that matters."
Sighing he took the last hit off his smoke and stamped the butt out in the nearest ashtray. Fabian seemed to be wearing his heart on his sleeve lately and these assholes seemed just fine in stomping all up on it. After the bullshit Sloan put him through he really didn't give a shit about too many people around here anymore. Jax still avoided that bitch at all costs and was happy to continue to do so.
"I know you’ve seen first hand what happens when you get too involved with the residents around here. I don't want you to be the next burnt corpse we pull out of some random ditch."

As easier as the wolf senses made it to gage what people truly were intending Fabian was started to wish for the time he could get by in ignorance, life was simpler when you didn’t notice how two-faced others could be. If it was purely comments on himself Fabian would feel better, there was nothing he could do to change his personality so it seemed dumb to get upset over that, not everyone could like you. Its the doubts about him being able to do his job the cut a little deeper. Work was a big part of his life, and he really didn’t see how he get another job if this one was lost due to rumours and people talking crap. Seemed likelier to have a breakdown then find work.
But Fabian guessed he might be taking it all too personal, so nodded as Jax said there was always going to bitches and jerks. Probably true. And it was always comforting to hear the boss thinks your work is good, it meant his job was likely safe.
“Yeah.” Fabian said looking to the astray where Jax just stubbed out what he been smoking. Zev really was one of the few people that mattered to him, followed by Jax, followed by… Well there really ended his circle of friends. Clive maybe was in there but he had a feeling the guy didn’t like him much now, or was hiding something. He could smell something like nerves but didn't know what it was exactly. Sloane was somewhere there too but she had her own life now and two babies.
Getting up Fabian walked to the small kitchenette to get a drink before shift started, he was still listening though and say back down with a cup of water as Jax brought up what happened to Azyona and nodded.
“Hmm...” he said thoughtfully. “…Wouldn’t get burnt. Just put the fire out.” Fabian said with a shrug, raising and lowering his hand slightly and making a watery trail appear and vanish as he did. It was just a joke, or attempt at it. Anyway, keep professional boundaries, that was the point Jax meant, wasn’t it?
"Thanks for the talk." Sipping from the cup he then looked up to Jax, “Did you want something?” he asked, now guessing he should have asked when he walked over there but better late then never.

"Look Fabian most people who talk behind someone's back is because they lack something in their own lives. Their miserable and want to make everyone else around them miserable too. Working here you have to have thick skin."
He was starting to feel bad that Fabian was having a bad go of it. Fabian was a good guy and being in a place like this could really break someone's heart. When the guard mentioned if there was anything else he needed to discuss Jax leaned over and snatched a cigarette out of the pack sitting on the table, lighting it quickly. Exhaling he ran a hand through his hair before he began speaking.
"Oh yea. It's time to do more training and crowd control. Just a refresher course since so many new species are coming in. We have some new and improved gear that finally came in."

Fabian liked to think he was tolerant to a lot of the comments that get said here, he wasn’t unused to name calling. Really he wasn’t sure why he was allowing it to bother him lately. he noticed the clashing of work styles more but still that was more reason to just ignore if someone else secretly thought what you did was wrong, probably did say more about them… or just stop helping other people. It was harder to annoy people if you keep out there way.
Fabian was glad to move on from the subject. He liked Jax, always count on an honest opinion on a situation.
Sipping at his drink again he watched Jax light up again before going into what the plan ahead was. So it was training. Not everyones idea of fun but important. Fabian usually enjoyed it though, it was always fun to play with new toys and he was never going to object to new rules and order. Giving training though, well thats just hell on Earth and normally he find any excuse or flat out refusing to teach anyone anything. It wasn’t exactly playing to his strengths to train another even if technically he was a senior guard. Fabian kind of hoped they were on a refresher course rather then expected to give one to the new guards.
Before the internal monolog could get too frantic, or he slipped out with a barrage of questions to the ‘who what where and when’ it was all happening Fabian focused his mind to theback to what Jax actually said and just nodded. “Alright.”
He noticed the new batons that came in recently and had already picked one up and used it, but there seemed to be more then one type, fixed and telescopic, so finding out which was good for what would be useful. “Used the baton. Works well.” His throat was intact which was good but the then tiger didn’t have her claws out so maybe there wouldn’t have been any blood anyway.

"Remember if you need me to bust anyone's ass I'd be more than willing."
Jax added in for good measure and believe me he would do it in a heartbeat. Letting the conversation lull back around to work as he took another drag off of his cigarette. When Fabian mentioned using the baton he let out a laugh
" I can't wait to go out in the yard and start busting shit up with the new gear. You know I have a penchant for tactical gear. I wonder who's gonna volunteer this is year to be on the business end of some of these new tweaked tasers. I know a few choice residents I'd like to practice on.
He wouldn't mention exactly who but he had a running list in his mind of people in his mind who could use a good skull cracking.
"There's a few missing people we need to go ahead and track down who've recently run. I guess I need to gather up the crew and see if I can square away Azyona.
Jax wasn't exactly sure why Azyona was numb to most things on this planet but she was damn good at talking people down and getting them to return. She always seem to take on the harder cases here who needed some little tnder loving care.
"That reminds me... we need to make sure all those who are in deep storage in the snake pit are secure. Last thing we need is someone like Illyria snaking her evil ass out somehow."

Fabian thought if he ever felt the overwhelming need to punch someone from giving in to pure anger, then he rather use his own fists. He wasn’t exactly incapable of defending himself in the times he noticed someone else was just being a dick. But having a vampire hired goon on your side and willing to carry out a hit couldn’t be a bad thing, so Fabian nodded. “Ok.” He had a feeling Jax might be joking anyway, but then maybe he wasn’t? It sounded like a Jax kind of thing to offer and do. He honestly found it hard to tell with the man half the time.
The next part of conversation made it a bit clearer that Jax was likely being completely honest with the offer. Fabian didn’t like to ask who been pissing off Jax lately that he want to practice with the new gear with them or who be dumb enough to volunteer it just made him more thankful to be be a mate rather then a enemy. Still, even as useful as the new items were going to be Fabian still liked a hands on approach. Having a physical gift and using it felt more natural then having to hold something. Not for all situations but it brought down that staff that went rouge recently, then not many species like being semi drowned.
When Jax mentioned a few missing residents, Fabian nodded. Always there seemed to be someone trying to runaway and and slightly rarer succeeding in it, but it happened and it usually wasn’t too hard to bring them back. Assuming ‘squared away’ meant he wanted her… “So..want me to find her?” Fabian offered. He got he impression Jax and Azyona did not get along well so if a favour was needed it might be better to have someone else ask.
Keeping the dangers in the snake pit though was very routine and shouldn’t take long. From seeing his own shift schedule it seemed the same as always but if people had been getting out it was better to do extra checks, Jax was right that the last thing anyone needed was Illyria running out, or anyone else down there really. “Ok.” Fabian said again.
While on the point of things vanishing, Fabian wasn't sure if word got to Jax so thought it was worth mentioning the place they were storing the new toys. “Kiba Lewis and Wyatt Green. Both broke into storage. Locks need improving or someone isn’t locking up properly.” Kids being stupid was a annoyance more then anything but something to deal with before it became more of an issue.

A man in a smart, light grey suit, white shirt and dark tie, walks down the hall, the sound of his shoes gently echoing off the corridor walls. His age isn't clear but seems to be in his forties and he walks with a amount of importance like he has being doing this job for a long time and doesn't expect to be questioned or have to respond to any.
As he approaches the Break Room of the Secure Facility, he pulls out a pen from inside his jacket pocket, clicks the top and scribbles a note on the form attached to the clipboard in his hand.
A few moments later he walks into the Break Room and looks over two men inside but says nothing to them, only listens quietly. He assumes they were both aware he was walking this way long before he actually arrived. Lifting a page he scans the contents of the form he is holding, finds what he was looking for and writes a few more notes. After a coupe of minutes he leaves not saying a word.

"There's been a lot of talking about either staff keycards being taken or residents wishing to liberate us of them. Its a good chance the entire campus will be switching over to wrist bracelets.. Even for the residents. Im sure if all of us techno geeks put our head together we can roll a prototype out in a few days. Last thing we need is some shit head kids stealing a keycard and terrorizing the villagers."
Reaching out Jax pulled another cigarette out of his pack, lighting it up quickly. It really was nothing more than a nasty human habit he couldn’t kick but you know what the fuck ever. As the conversation progressed it circled back around to Azyona once again.
"I think maybe we both need to go pay Vampire Barbie a visit. A farmer ran across a dead bear a few days ago and was unable to locate the cubs that she was seen with. I'm pretty sure Azyona has taken the bear cubs in like she does with every other wayward thing that crosses her path. I know it helping the environment or some bullshit but we need to set down some boundaries with her. She's gonna end up biting off more than she can chew and get strung out again. I don’t think I can go through another round of her being high as a kite again. Azyona legitatimbly needs to be in some sort of counseling situation so she can mentally deal with what that demon bitch did to her."
Jax took a hit off his cigarette and was getting ready to address the Kiba and Wyatt when some weird ass dude walked in with a clipboard. He stood there staring and scribbling down on some damn piece of paper. Then he just ups and leaves causing Jax to move up into a standing position.
"HEY!
He barked out
"Can I help you with something?"

Fabian wasn’t sure how swapping from a card to a wrist bracelet would help much with the thefts that had been happening but said nothing, he thought if some here were determined enough they would still get hold of one somehow. Yet something needed to be done and it seemed Jax had a plan along with the other technically minded people here so Fabian saw little point questioning something he didn’t really know much about. Anything being done was better then what was happening currently so he just nodded a little to show he understood.
As for seeing Azyona, Fabian wouldn’t have minded asking her alone especially if Jax was going to start using names like Vampire Barbie around her, which didn’t sound like a nickname Azyona would enjoy. Though he wasn’t totally sure he got along with her fantastically well himself he didn’t think it was as bad as Jax seemed to.
The whole bear scenario was a bit weird, Fabian honestly didn’t expect Jax to come out with that as something she had been up to. How in the hell did she managed to find a family of bears anyway? For sure it seemed a good idea to convince her walking around with non-native wildlife is a bad idea, so he just nodded again.
Telling her to go to counselling seemed a bit more impossible. Fabian knew she ran with Zev in the forest and at one point he was trying to help her but he didn’t think it was really any of his business to ask how it went. She ran with him still on occasions and the pack, and to Fabian being out in the forest (and Zev who made anything ten times better in his view) was far better to get you mind off things then being forced in a stuffy room with someone staring at you for an hour waiting for you to talk and analysing everything you did say. Fabian really would not blame her if she refused that part. "Think she enjoys being with the pack." It seemed worth mentioning, and the pack gave rules and structure, which was good for getting you though most things in life surely.
This list of things to take care of seemed to be getting longer though Fabian was sure the Kiba and Wyatt issue would be an easy fix, especially if the wristband idea of Jax worked.
Before anything more could be said on someone else walks in. Fabian looked up to them and frowned slightly. He didn’t know who the man was but anyone walking in and making notes was a little unnerving. It seemed to get Jax annoyed for sure, but it seemed the man didn’t want to stay to be questioned.
“We being inspected?” he asked once the man had left.

Hearing a voice yell, the man stopped walking and turned back around to the Break Room, vanishing and reappearing inside the room. He viewed the first guard up and down with a slight look of disdain before replying. “No.” and then to the second guard. “and my business here does not concern you.” Tone implying both questions were beneath the effort he did place in responding. With no intention of engaging either men further, the now obviously supernatural man vanishes in a small flash of grey smoke.
