The Site Plot
As of 2019
After the attack on the academy, changes have been brought in. Ownership and running of the academy has been taken from the Head of Security and transferred to an as yet unnamed individual working at OFSTSED...
----
Things have been running smoothly (or as smoothly as they can) in the first three months on Manson's new year. But talk has surfaced of this still unnamed new Headmaster making changes to a certain part of Manson. If anyone knows what that is and why, then they are keeping it quiet. But like any good gossip, it has a habit of getting out, and word is that a new group is being created...
At the end of 2018:
With Manson barely scrapping a passing grade in the previous years inspection, expect 2018 to be the year no misdemeanour goes unpunished. Though rules have always been enforced to a degree, the Headmaster knows some aspects were getting lax... But now all who break the code of conduct will get a fitting punishment, be it getting privileges taken away or seeing themselves shipped off to another facility. Not even the staff are excluded from this, with immediate termination of employment being the worst case scenario for them. So lets hope everyone behaves...
But it seems Manson can't catch a break. What started as a rumour soon changed into something much bigger.... A voice has been heard, just briefly at first, speaking to a handle of students and seemingly asking questions to there opinion of certain species. It caused unease but has been dismissed as a prank, someone trying to stir up trouble, cause tension.
Now more reports have come in, from staff and student alike. The voice is getting more aggressive in tone and message, causing overly aggressive and bloody fights between students, and most recently a genderless figure was spotted on camera near the lake. It was chanting something, a spell? Who knows, but the next morning the lake started drying up. Clearly this voice has it in for Manson, particularly Shifters and Vampires.
But no, that was the work of OFSTSED worker Anderson. Apparently he knew this 'thing' was coming but only had the power to weaken it, altering its target of engulfing the whole academy and everyone in it in hellfire, to targeting a select group of species (vampires, after all can not die and shifters are pretty invulnerable) resulting in some fainting, passing out for weeks and displaying behaviour unlike there own species... He says he is still working to fight this mysterious evil but warns worse is still to come.
Smoke has been seen in the Forest, no fire yet...surely the grounds are not in danger too?
Now for one last hurrah, the thing that has been going by the name of 'Instigator' has attacked the Student Bar and local supernatural hang out, Carpe. Both buildings were destroyed and many buried under rubble but thankfully no fatalities. Staff and a few students are now working to recover the grounds and put some spells together to rebuild what was destroyed. But who was the 'Instigator'? Maybe it is best not to know...
At the end of of 2017:
Manson has been at risk of Foreclosure once before it and forced the then headmaster into some rapid updating to avoid it. Now having been under the rule of a new Head for a few years and new buildings built, OFSTSED (the Office for Standards in Supernatural Education) is planning a visit to talk to staff and students, make a detailed report and see just how much all the new improvement and management has improved things...
Which it turned out was only barely enough. Manson has been put on notice to improve things from the barely a passing grade of a 'D' rating. Headmaster Jackson seems to have taken this to heart and has altared where some residents sleep and eat, changed some staff roles while outright firing others, as well as completely closing off access to the forest and grounds itself around Manson, while restricting movement inside until all points addressed in the report can be met. After all it is far easier to keep an eye on everyone when you restrict where they can go.
This seemed to in the end be a positive thing despite the small protests that went on. Manson managed to remain open but it seems (judging by the lurking OFSTSED worker) is still under close watch. Hopefully though now with one of the current Manson staff members agreeing to take on double role as part-time employee to the specialist agency, and so able to receive and give feedback on how things are going, the academy won't ever fall below standards again. Which can only be good, especially with some new baby supernaturals being born in 2017 who will need a good education in a few years time.
At the end of 2016:
The secret funding the academy was given has seemed to have made an impact! A flood of new students arrived along with staff and the complex is now in a good state of repair. The Old Academy grounds finally bit the dust, almost taking some students with it... but in it's place is a new Therapy Centre. So it is clear the funding the academy gets is finally being put to good use and the lingering effects of the previous Headmaster have vanished.
Yet not was improving, in fact some residents were looking sickly for some time...What causing the outbreak? More importantly, how could it be stopped? The medical team was a little baffled to how it spread.
Thankfully it was stopped eventually, though it was really an unneeded drama for a place that was barely keeping things together.
At the end of 2015:
Manson has fallen into a sort of status quo. Since the old Headmaster was driven out, the Head of Security has taken on his second year of running things and he has got money is coming in but nobody knows or questions where. New students are on the increase and new staff have also been seen around the campus so clearly things are starting to improve but how long will it last? While Manson was never a five star hotel it had been getting repaired slowly, and now despite the fact it seemed the place was one bad storm away from collapse, it is actually pleasant to live in. So who funded this seemingly dying project? Did they do it for the students or is there some other motive?
Also, who sent the new medicines that suddenly arrived? That is something that will probably never be found out... The thinking is, it was somebody gifted, someone who knew ordinary tests would show them as safe and working, yet when given to certain species, previous problems would vanish only to morph into something just as bad, if not worse. Crazies getting addicted, thieves turning violent, runways starting to drink... Luckily no permeant damage was done, residents recovering (at least going back to themselves) after one to four weeks. But it was a headache for the staff for sure, and a huge test for the Headmaster.
Hm... I wonder if maybe it was deliberate? A test of the Heads skill? After all, who wants history to repeat itself?
At the end of 2014:
The Headmaster had been driven out and only a few select staff know how it happened. But this isn't the miracle everyone hope it would be. The academy has to be run by someone and right now that job has fallen the Head of Security. He has a huge task ahead of him fixing up all the problems left by the previous Headmaster, but with all main funding gone with the ex Head, how is he going to do it? Outside sources are reluctant to put money into a dying business so soon maybe the staff and residents are going to wish for things to go back to the way they were.
At the end of 2013:
After decades of using and abusing the staff and students, and bleeding the academy dry, the Headmaster has resigned! Or that is the rumor going around. Nobody is sure how or why he decided to up and leave... Some say he had 'help', but as 2014 creeps in, the academy has nobody to run it.
So far the staff are keeping things in order but who knows how long it will last. Somebody will have to step into the Headmasters shoes but who would want that job? The legacy the Head left behind will be hard to shake. But he is gone, that has to be a good thing, right?
Initial plot from 2009-12)
Manson Academy, is asylum set deep in the English countryside. It is a place for the troubled supernatural young adults of the world. It has a history dating back one-hundred and sixty years, having housed thousands of supernaturals and gifted beings in its time.
But in the years Manson has been around it things are inevitable not going to stay perfect. Manson is unknown to the general population with only other supernaturals and those in higher power aware it even exists. This means funding the place to keep all the deranged, errant vampires, werewolves and gifted individuals out of the public eye is difficult.
Much of the building is not being looked after. The world is a expensive place to live and the academy does anything it can to save money. Through the years the academy has changed management many times, now it is in the hands of a arrogant, money hungry Headmaster, who sees it that as long as the residents are detained and he is getting paid, then there comfort is far from important..
